It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover was released in 2016, so I am late to the party reading it.

All the hype, and its place on the bestseller lists years later, finally made me cave and I’m so glad I did.

I went from feeling elation, to sadness, to anger to depression to sorrow and contentment and everything in between with this book.

Man, how I bawled my eyes out with this book and hugged my daughter real tight after because I don’t ever want her to be in a situation like Lily.

But that’s why this book has been around a time or two on #Booktok and getting all the hype long after its release because it’s THAT GOOD and one of the best Colleen Hoover books.

Now, Colleen Hoover said in her acknowledgments that she didn’t write this book for entertainment. She wanted to use her mother’s personal experience to write a book about love and abuse.

I didn’t read this book for entertainment.

In fact, I almost folded at 65% when things were getting real. But I had to finish and I’m so glad that I did.

Amazing Character Development

Not only is this such a well-written book, but Colleen Hoover gives us the best characters to fall for.

Atlas Corrigan

OMG Atlas. As a boy of eighteen, I felt your sorrow and saw the spark that was still there. The spark that wanted to believe that life could and would be better.

I wanted to get in your head and learn even MORE about you but maybe that’s what the sequel, It Starts With Us, is going to give me.

I wish you made two different decisions but I can’t fault you for it. I haven’t walked in your shoes.

But I cherish your empathy, your patience, and your never-ending love.

Lily Bloom

Oh Lily, what a fighter you are. You made me rethink all of my preconceived notions about what it means to be in an abusive relationship. I thank you for that – immensely.

I don’t know that anyone can judge another’s decisions unless they are truly in their shoes but even then, maybe not.

I too fell hard for Ryle so I understand your dilemma.

I see your truth. I see your pain. I see your resilience. I see your strength. I see you.

Ryle Kincaid

Oh Ryle. How I fell hard and fast for you just like Lily. I grieve for the boy you were and the man you became.

You are also my worst nightmare. A man who you want to forgive and has SO many redeeming qualities except for one.

But I thank you for showing me one picture of what might be another’s story behind closed doors.

One of the Best, Yet Hardest Books Worth Reading

Thank you Colleen Hoover for giving me a story that gripped, taught, and ended with such hope.

Thank you for what this book has done for the romance book industry. It’s amazing, and I applaud you. I now cannot wait to see the It Ends With Us movie!

I will most definitely be reading It Starts With Us to finish off this amazing book series.
