Our Secret Summer Summary:
Iโve spent years stuck behind a desk, always doing the practical, predictable thing. But when my sisterโs untimely death leaves me with her unfinished bucket list, I have no choice but to throw caution to the wind and hop on a flight to sunny Ibiza. Attempting to carpe my diem on the shores of the Spanish Mediterranean, I waste no time making new friends and finding work at a popular nightclub.
Living out my sisterโs dream summer shouldnโt be hard with her bucket list as my guide:
Go surfing? Done.
Get a tattoo? If the list says soโฆ
Fall in love?โฆSorry, sis. No luck on that front.
That is, until I meet my surprisingly sexy boss Cristiano Moreno Winthrop. Heโs completely off limits, but we canโt seem to stay away from each other. And between late-night talks, glittering parties on his yacht, and steamy stolen moments, Iโm starting to think that I just might have found a way to finish that bucket list after all. But summer wonโt last forever. Is what Cristiano and I have just a fling, or will it last beyond the season?
Our Secret Summer: My Review
Just looking at the cover of Our Secret Summer, I knew that I was going to get a fun romance that would have me wishing I was spending my own summer in Ibiza. The bookโs setting was so much fun and it made me wish that I was a twenty-something, living fancy free, working at a night club and making friends who were a blast to party with while also falling in love with the rich club owner. Not bad Elle. Not bad!
Overall, this was a light romance that is perfect for reading by the pool or on the beach this summer. I loved that Elle was stepping outside her comfort zone to complete her sisterโs must-do list of items in Ibiza while working through the grief of losing her. I felt like she was a compelling character in this novel, but I wish we got more depth to Cristiano as well.
Did she act a bit immature at times? Sure. Did they seem to fall in love pretty fast after a few brief interactions? Yes, but I went with it.
