In the romance genre, several romance book tropes are at the top of the list that readers return to again and again including age gap romance books.
Perhaps it’s the hard-fought happily-ever-after when the odds are stacked against the characters, or maybe it’s the forbidden nature of the central relationship that gets a reader’s motor going.
Central to all age gap romance books is the age difference between the central characters of the love story.
For some books, the age gap isn’t even an issue but for others, it’s a key point that is addressed throughout the story and impacts the characters’ happily ever after.
Common Themes in Age Gap Romance Books
Given the age difference between the main characters in age gap romances, there is a definite cross-over with the teacher student romance trope and the forbidden romance trope.
In teacher student romance books, the age difference can be considerable or it can be minor if it’s a new, young teacher.
With age gap romance books that fall into the forbidden category, the relationship could be teacher/student or boss/employee, single parent/nanny, coach/athlete, doctor/patient, or the like.
Several on this list also fall into the father or mother of a best friend or ex-boyfriend.
Regardless of the setup to the age difference in the books on this list, rest assured that all characters are of the age of consent once things turn romantic.
Variety in Age Gap Romance Books
This book list also gives you age gap romance books in a variety of categories and other romance tropes.
And that’s what I love about romance! You can have a specific trope that’s your favorite and yet still have it play out in a variety of themes and storylines.
Here you’ll find age gap romances in contemporary romance, new adult romance, historical romance, sports romance, MM romance, and sapphic romance so take your pick.
You’ll get older man, younger woman age gap romances as well as older woman, younger man age gap romances as well.
If I’ve left out your favorite age gap romance book, be sure to share it in the comments below!
Happy reading 😊
My Favorite Age Gap Romance Books
Love Hacked
by Penny Reid
Sandra is a gifted psychologist but it hasn’t helped her dating life. All of her dates seem to end the same way with her acting the therapist and her date crying.
Tired of the same song and dance she gives in one night with the waiter who’s always captured her eye.
Alex may be younger and less experienced than Sandra but he’s not about to let her psychoanalyze him no matter how much he comes to like her.
I love Reid’s books for her amazing storytelling and her unique characters.
Alex (21) is unlike any hero I’ve read before and I loved how he and Sandra (28) just fit. While he may have some baggage to work through, Alex is not about to let Sandra try and “fix him.”
This isn’t your typical age gap romance but so much more. Plus, if you like a character who is a virgin, this is a great pick.
I can’t recommend this book enough. It’s one of my all-time favorites!
What I Did for a Duke
by Julie Anne Long
If the ton knows one thing about Alexander Moncrieffe, Duke of Falconbridge, it’s that only fools dare cross him.
And when Ian Eversea does just that, Moncrieffe knows the perfect revenge: he’ll seduce Ian’s innocent sister, Genevieve—the only Eversea as yet untouched by scandal.
First he’ll capture her heart, and then he’ll break it.
But everything about Genevieve is unexpected: the passion simmering beneath her cool control, the sharp wit tempered by gentleness.
And though Genevieve has heard the whispers about the duke’s dark past, one kiss tempts her deeper into a world of extraordinary sensuality.
Until Genevieve is faced with a fateful choice…is there anything she won’t do for a duke?
OMG this book! It too is one of my favorite romance books of all time and a must read for sure.
Even if you aren’t a fan of historical romance, this is just an incredible age gap romance book. The exact age difference isn’t spelled out but Alexander is almost 40 and Genevieve is almost half his age.
But that age difference doesn’t hold Genevieve back, nor Alex once neither of them can ignore their chemistry together. I loved it so much!
How to Fake It in Hollywood
by Ava Wilder
Grey Brooks is on a mission to keep her career afloat now that the end of her long-running teen TV show has her (unsuccessfully) pounding the pavement again.
With a life-changing role on the line, she’s finally desperate enough to agree to her publicist’s scheme: fake a love affair with a disgraced Hollywood heartthrob who needs the publicity.
Ethan Atkins just wants to be left alone. Between his high-profile divorce, struggles with drinking, and grief over the loss of his longtime creative partner and best friend, Ethan has slowly let himself fade into the background.
But to produce the last movie he and his partner wrote together, Ethan agrees to a gossip-inducing affair with a gorgeous actress, even if it’s the last thing he wants to do.
Though their juicy public relationship is less than perfect behind the scenes, it doesn’t take long before Grey and Ethan’s sizzling chemistry starts to feel like more than just an act.
Ethan and Grey are two Hollywood actors in need of a turnaround in their careers.
While they both agree to the fake relationship proposed by their publicist, what transpires is a really great, slow burn romance.
Given their age difference, Ethan tries his best to ignore the growing tension between them but ultimately can’t keep away from Grey any more than she can him.
I’d be lying if I didn’t say that there is definitely some heavy gravitas to this story as Ethan is struggling with some demons after losing a close friend.
But I absolutely loved how Wilder depicted their character development and carried their relationship forward. My Review.
For You & No One Else
by Roni Loren
As a therapist, Eliza Catalano part of her job is to look like she has all the answers, right?
But when Eliza ends up as a viral “Worst Date Ever” meme, everything in her Instagram-filtered world begins to crumble.
Enter the most obnoxiously attractive man she’s ever met, and a bet she can’t resist: if she swears off social media for six months, Beck Carter’ll teach her the wonders of surviving the “real world.”
It seems like the perfect deal—but something about Beck’s raw honesty speaks to Eliza in ways she never expected.
She knows he’s supposed to be completely hands-off, but as complex feelings grow and walls come tumbling down Beck may be exactly what Eliza needs to finally, truly face herself—and decide who she really wants to be.
Eliza (33) and Beck (25) are office neighbors who have opposites goals in life when it comes to relationships.
She’s determined to get married and have children one day while Beck wants nothing to do with matrimony or starting a family.
While apparent opposites, these two characters are able to be completely “real” with one another instead of putting on their best faces as you might do when first dating someone.
I loved how Beck pushes Eliza to try and find her man the “old-fashion way” without dating apps and yet it’s him that ultimately captures her heart.
Such a great book but it’s what I come to expect from Loren each and every time! My Review.
Boy Toy
by Sarina Bowen and Tanya Eby
The moment Sadie Matthews walks through the daycare center door, I feel my world tilt in her direction. Again. I fell for her when I was fourteen, and I’m still not over her.
The problem is she still thinks of me as a teen she used to babysit.
She’s now a single mom of twin toddlers, and believes she doesn’t have time for a man. She thinks I’m too young for her but I can be persuasive and I’m not letting her go.
I loved this age gap romance that has the perfect romcom spin to it that only Bowen and Eby can provide!
While only 6 years are between Liam and Sadie, Sadie struggles with her attraction for Liam because he’s not only her kiddo’s preschool teacher but she also used to babysit him!
Not to mention her heart is still pretty raw after her husband cheated on her and going through a divorce.
I found Liam to be adorable and so great with her kids. He deserved to finally be with his crush!
Kulti
by Mariana Zapata
When the man you worshipped as a kid becomes your coach, it’s supposed to be the greatest thing in the world.
It didn’t take a week for twenty-seven-year-old Sal Casillas to wonder what she’d seen in the international soccer icon—why she’d ever had his posters on her wall, or ever envisioned marrying him and having super-playing soccer babies.
Sal had long ago gotten over the worst non-break-up in the history of imaginary relationships with a man that hadn’t known she’d existed.
So she isn’t prepared for this version of Reiner Kulti who shows up to her team’s season: a quiet, reclusive shadow of the explosive, passionate man he’d once been.
Nothing could have prepared her for the man she got to know.
This is one of my favorite Zapata romances! With this age gap romance – you get a coach/player relationship between a total grump and a female soccer superstar.
I loved how she crushed hard on Reiner as a child only to find him totally wanting as an adult.
Zapata is known for her slow burn romances and this is definitely one of those, especially given the page count! Dig in though as it’s worth it.
Everything for You
by Chloe Liese
We’ve been teammates for two years, but it feels like a lifetime that Oliver Bergman’s been on my last nerve.
A demanding captain and veteran player, I’m feared and friendless, while he’s the beloved rising star, all sunshine smiles and upbeat team spirit.
But when Coach notifies us that we’re now co-captains, avoiding him becomes impossible, and keeping the truth from him–let alone my distance–is harder than ever.
If you love a grumpy-sunshine, enemies-to-lovers, sports romance with a steamy slow burn love story, then this is the age gap romance book for you.
This is such a great series focused on family AND love with Liese’s amazing writing.
Gavin will totally give you Roy Kent vibes if you’re a fan of Ted Lasso and Oliver is just the sweetest.
I loved how Gavin tried to push Oliver away given not only their age difference (10 years) but also the difference in where they were in their careers, but Ollie wouldn’t stand for it.
Definitely add this one to your TBR list.
Pin This For Later:
Voyeur
by Fiona Cole
I didn’t know she was my student the first time I paid to watch her at Voyeur.
Once she walked into my classroom, another smiling college freshman, I knew I should stop going, stop watching, but I couldn’t do it.
The worst part is that she has no idea her professor is the one watching behind the glass.
There are a lot of age gap romance books that feature student/teacher romances and this is definitely one I recommend especially if you’re into voyeurism.
Both characters in this one are a bit complex so they drew me right in.
Oaklyn (19) needs to earn money for school and Professor Pierce has his own inner demons to work through.
I highly recommend it.
Sinner
by Sierra Simone
Sean no longer believes in God. So it shouldn’t be a problem that his best friend’s little sister wants him to sleep with her and show her everything she’s giving up because she’s becoming a nun.
Gosh this book! Talk about an age gap romance with a bit of taboo. I mean Zenny (21) is a postulant training to be a NUN for goodness sakes.
And then there’s Sean (36) who’s with someone different every night but instantly wants Zenny, not knowing who she is at first.
Yes, this is an instalust, age gap romance book, but one that I found so thought-provoking on the areas of faith, purity, religion, philosophy and God. My Review.
Devilry
by Marley Valentine
Earning a full scholarship to King University was my hard-earned ticket out of the small town and away from the small-minded people who live there.
Diving head first into new experiences, new friends, and parties, I didn’t expect to run straight into the one thing I wasn’t ready for.
Cole Huxley is everything I could fall in love with, except for one problem. I never wanted to fall for my professor.
Elijah, the 18-year-old freshman, made this book for me.
He just came across as way more mature beyond his years, probably due to the fact that he was ostracized by his family and lonely for the last few years of high school until he could get away.
He pretty much brought Cole, the 31-year-old professor and guy who never did relationships, to his knees in this age gap romance book.
Waking Olivia
by Elizabeth O’Roark
Will Langstrom has too many responsibilities, and the last thing he needs is Olivia Finnegan, a beautiful but troubled new transfer student.
Olivia is her own worst enemy, with a smart mouth and a past she can’t seem to escape, and the last person she wants help from is a cocky track coach she can never seem to please.
Refusing to be pushed away, Will is determined to save her and determined to resist an attraction that could destroy them both.
The story behind Olivia and her troubles really gripped me in this age gap romance book between track star and coach.
I found her to be really fascinating and such a strong heroine which I love in romance books.
Will wanted nothing to do with the transfer student who he immediately judged from her reputation but he grew to be a man who finally took notice to help her.
I loved it and highly recommend it.
Wrong
by Jana Aston
I have a history of picking the wrong guy. Now I can’t stop fantasizing about one of the customers at the coffee shop I work at between classes.
It’s just a harmless crush, right? It’s not like I ever see this guy outside of the coffee shop.
It’s not like I’m going to see him while attempting to get birth control at the student clinic. While wearing a paper gown. While sitting on an exam table. Because he’s the doctor.
But what if, for once, the man I’ve had the dirtiest, most scandalous fantasies about turned out to be everything but wrong?
OMG, I loved this book. It was my first Jana Aston novel but definitely wasn’t my last.
This age gap romance book also fits in the forbidden romance category because he’s her doctor!
But don’t let that scare you off because it was just a one-time doctor visit and she didn’t KNOW he was a doctor. Queue up an awkward encounter and then some!
Yet this book was so hot and so fun to read. Definitely one to pick up and add to your TBR list.
Dear Mr. Brody
by A.M. Johnson
Donovan Brody, recently divorced, single dad sees his single status as an opportunity to explore the attraction he’s always felt toward men, but never pursued having married his high school sweetheart.
Unsure how to proceed or even enter the dating world, he takes up his friend’s suggestion to try a dating app.
He just never thought he’d make a connection so quick. Nor did he anticipate the man he’s falling for to be his student.
There was just something about this book that really hooked me. Maybe it was the fact that Donovan “Van” is so open to exploring this new side to himself and how wonderful Patrick was with him.
The age gap (32 and 24) really didn’t factor into their relationship too much for me and both men were so open in their communication.
I love romance books that include dating apps too. If you’re looking for an MM age gap romance book, you can’t go wrong with this one!
Reasonable Doubt
by Whitney G.
As a high-profile lawyer, I don’t have time to waste on relationships, so I fulfill my needs by anonymously chatting and sleeping with women I meet online.
My rules are simple: One dinner. One night. No repeats.
This is only casual. Nothing more. Nothing less. At least it was , until “Alyssa.”
She was supposed to be a 27 year old lawyer, a book hoarder, and completely unattractive.
She was supposed to be someone I shared law advice with late at night, someone I could trust with details of my weekly escapades.
But then she came into my firm for an interview—a college-intern interview, and everything changed.
This is one of first books I read when I started down the “steamy” romance book trail and I loved it.
I loved how Andrew and Audrey first connect on a website for lawyers and how their conversations there turn HOT.
When the truth comes out about who Audrey is, Andrew is NOT happy because he does not like liars, but oh can this man bring the heat over the phone. (Fans self!).
This book initially started as a serial but you can read the entire story now in one!

On the Island
by Tracey Garvis Graves
With his cancer in remission, sixteen-year-old T.J. Callahan just wants to get back to normal life, not catch up on missed schoolwork at their Maldives summer home.
Anna Emerson is a thirty-year-old English teacher who jumps at the chance to spend the summer on a tropical island tutoring T.J. only the unthinkable happens.
Their private plane takes a nose dive, leaving them stranded on an uninhabited island.
As the days turn to weeks, and then months, and as birthdays pass, these two lost souls must come to terms with their situation and find companionship in one another in the moments they need it most.
While at first the age gap seemed a bit sketchy to me, I understand that time does indeed pass to where T.J. becomes older.
Not only is it a slow burn, age gap romance book, but there is an added level of suspense too. Check it out!
All Grown Up
by Vi Keeland
When I first encountered Ford Donovan, I had no idea who he was other than too young for me.
My best friend decided I needed to start dating again, so without my knowledge, she set up a profile for me on a popular dating site for young men.
It wasn’t supposed to go live, but nevertheless, that’s how I met Ford, and we started messaging.
Despite our age difference I agreed to one date only and when we finally met, I got quite the shock.
He’s the boy next door – the son of the neighbor at our family’s summer home. Only now he was all man and my neighbor for the summer.
If older woman/younger man trope is your thing then you may like this.
Though Valentina connected with Ford online, she constantly struggles with the insecurity of what she feels is the inappropriateness of being with a younger man.
She is a 37-year-old divorcee from her childhood sweetheart and mom to a 19-year-old son who finally is dipping her toes back into dating waters. Ford is 25 and all about getting it on with Valentina.
This is an age gap romance book where the focus is definitely on the age gap of the relationship.
The Doctor
by Nikki Sloane
For years, he was a part of my life. I watched him rush to the hospital countless times, his beautiful surgeon hands racing to save lives.
After all this time, I can’t escape the truth. I want Dr. Lowe.
Lust burns in each moment we’re together. He promises to fulfill my fantasies.
Only, I can’t have him. He’s my ex-boyfriend’s father.
Nikki Sloane does forbidden romance like no other and she does it again in this age gap romance book.
If you like a 19-year-old going for the Daddy who was lusting after his son’s girlfriend while they were dating then this is the book.
It’s also high on the steaminess level so be forewarned 😊.
Birthday Girl
by Penelope Douglas
I took Jordan in, because I thought I was helping when she had nowhere else to go.
As the days go by, though, it’s becoming anything but easy. I have to stop my mind from drifting to her and stop holding my breath every time I bump into her in the house.
I can’t touch her, and I shouldn’t want to.
We’re not free to give into this because she’s nineteen, and I’m thirty-eight.
I’m her boyfriend’s father, and unfortunately, they both just moved into my house.
This is one popular, age gap romance book that’s been on my TBR list for too long.
Talk about forbidden romance – you’re crushing on your son’s girlfriend who happens to be living with you. Oh man, they are in trouble!
Cue the sparks, the forbidden looks, and the steaminess in this super popular age gap romance!
With Us
by Layla Frost
It took Theo Amato one look to know he wanted me.
It took me one glance at his chiseled jaw and dimpled smile to know I was in over my head.
I had no business dating the older man who looked as though he’d stepped out of an expensive advertisement.
But he was determined to have me.
Wickedly sweet, Theo gently and strategically pulled me from my rut, handing me the world in the process.
Growing up with nothing, I suddenly found myself with everything. More than I’d even known to dream of. But shadows play tricks on the eyes, and life wasn’t always what it seemed.
With us, it was better.
If you like an age gap romance book with a Cinderella-type vibe this one will give it to you.
Dahlia grew up in the foster care system but then one day a hottie takes an interest in her at the coffee shop where she works.
Who wouldn’t want a dashing man to dote on you and fall in love with you in the process? And yet, Theo is hiding a secret…
Torn
by Carian Cole
When I was five years old, I told Toren Grace I was going to marry him when I grew up. When I turned eighteen, I made it clear I still felt the same.
The problem? He’s fifteen years older than me, and he’s my father’s best friend.
He’s always been my rock—the one I should never, ever want. But I do want him, and I love him. I always have.
One unexpected kiss between us rocked him clear off his axis. Now, we can’t forget how that kiss felt, and what it changed. Nothing will ever be the same between us.
This age gap romance also fits the forbidden romance category as Kenzi lusts after her pseudo-uncle and godfather. She’s finally 18 and he’s 33 but that won’t stop them.
Considering their relationship (father’s best friend/her godfather) the age gap could be so much bigger.
Given they’ve known and loved each other almost all of her life, I’m curious if this is more sweet or spicy!
Mr. Masters
by T.L. Swan
He is powerful, older and my boss, a lethal combination.
When I lied on my resume, I didn’t expect it to matter. I was born to be a nanny.
But the first day was bad and things only got worse.
The kids were evil and I spied through a window and caught him doing something obscene…. and equally fascinating.
But intelligent, widowed Judges don’t fall for ditzy nannies. Or do they?
Yes, I am all in on this age gap romance book with a spunky nanny and single dad. I’m already laughing at the shenanigans Brielle (26) gets herself into.
And I can’t wait to see how she unravels the arrogant judge (39).
Dirty Billionaire
by Meghan March
I’ve got a big ego and an even bigger bank account. That’s pretty much where my bio ends.
Honestly, I don’t need to say anything else. Do I sound like a jerk to you? That’s because I am.
And guess what? It works for me just fine. Or at least it did. Until I met her.
Only one problem. She wouldn’t tell me her name or her number when she disappeared from the hotel room after the hottest night of my life.
Now I’ve had a taste of the perfect woman and I need it again.
So what’s a jerk to do? I took this problem to the street. A missed connection gone viral. And when I find her? I’m keeping her.
This age gap romance is the first in a trilogy so get ready to read the entire series for the happy ending as book one definitely ends on a cliffhanger.
If you like billionaire romance books based on instalust, then this is the one for you.
The Naked Fisherman
by Jewel E. Ann
I’m eighteen and a young woman with endless possibilities on my way to reunite with my mom in Colorado after five years apart.
At the airport, she springs the news on me that she’s leaving for a month of job training.
And me? I’m left on my own in the basement she’s renting from the fisherman, aka her landlord who lives upstairs.
He’s ten years older than me. Never wears a shirt. And makes it hard to remember all the things I learned at Christian Academy.
Did I mention he’s also my new boss?
I adore Jewel E. Ann’s writing so I’m all in for this age gap romance and the second book that follows in this duet.
It’s a sort of coming of age story for Reese (18) who can’t help but fall head over heels for Fisher (28).
Ann always pens the most intriguing stories and characters and I know this one will be no different.
Scandalous
by LJ Shen
They call him The Mute for a reason. Hard, cold and calculated, he rarely speaks.
He is thirty-three. I am eighteen. He’s a single dad and my father’s business partner.
I’m just a kid to him and his enemy’s daughter.
He’s emotionally unavailable. And I am feeling things I shouldn’t feel for him.
A scandal is the last thing my family needs. But a scandal is what we’re going to give them.
This age gap romance definitely fits the forbidden romance category not only given the age difference but Trent’s relationship with Edie’s father.
But if you love the strong, silent type heroes and the equally strong heroines, then don’t miss this read.
Forbidden
by Karla Sorenson
It takes a lot to rattle me, but nothing could’ve prepared me for the day that Aiden Hennessy walked through my beloved gym doors, ownership papers in his big hands.
I know a lot about my gorgeous new boss, a former fighter whose posters used to decorate my bedroom walls.
I know he retired and he’s now a single dad raising an adorable little girl.
And I know that no matter how broody and quiet he is, my innocent teenage crush has turned into a highly inappropriate adult fantasy.
Aiden thinks I’m too young for him. He says he shouldn’t want me.
But all it takes is one step over the line to prove what they say is true- forbidden fruit really does taste the sweetest.
Teen crushes is a popular trend in age gap romance books and this one totally fits the bill.
I love that Isabel crushed hard on the former fighter making this a great, slow burn romance.
For romances with single dads, I also always enjoy the scenes between dad and his little girl.
Irresistible
by Melanie Harlow
I’m a full-time single dad to three daughters and CFO at Cloverleigh Farms. I don’t have time to fall in love.
Sure, Frannie Sawyer is beautiful and sweet, but she’s twenty-seven, the boss’s daughter, and my new part-time nanny which means she’s completely off-limits.
It’s bad enough I can’t stop fantasizing about her, what kind of jerk would I be if I acted on the impulse to kiss her?
Actually, I’m worse than that because I didn’t stop with a kiss, and now I can’t stay away.
This book kicked off one of Melanie Harlow’s most popular series as well as a spin-off series because readers loved it so much.
I loved everything about Cloverleigh Farms and the Sawyer family but it all starts with the single dad who’s helping to run the place!
Definitely check it out before binge-reading the entire series.
Ignite
by Melanie Harlow
My new neighbor is a firefighter—and a scorching hot single dad—but I swear I didn’t set off that smoke alarm on purpose.
Nothing happened, of course because I, Winnie MacAllister, romance fanatic and owner of a constantly broken heart, have sworn off men for one solid year.
Until Dex kisses me one night, and I drop all my defenses.
He says he’s not gentle, and he’s right. He says I should take the dream job I’m offered in another state, and he’s right.
He says he’s too old for me and could never be the man I deserve. He’s wrong.
Well after reading Irresistible (and the entire series), it’s a no-brainer to read Ignite because it follows the story of Winnie, one of Mack’s daughters.
This age gap romance book also features a single dad with a bit of an opposites attract love story.
What’s great is that Harlow draws similar parallell’s to this story from Irrestible while making it it’s own.
And honestly, Dex’s two girls were the absolute cutest in this book.
Well Matched
by Jen Deluca
Single mother April Parker has lived in Willow Creek for twelve years with a wall around her heart.
On the verge of being an empty nester, she’s decided to move on and asks her friend Mitch for his help to get her house ready to sell.
Mitch Malone is known for being the life of every party, but mostly for the attire he wears to the local Renaissance Faire–a kilt (and not much else) that shows off his muscled form to perfection.
While he agrees to help April, he asks for a favor in return.
He needs her to pretend to his girlfriend at an upcoming family dinner, so that he can avoid the lectures about settling down and having a more “serious” career than high school coach and gym teacher.
April reluctantly agrees, but when their “fake” relationship gets extended, it becomes hard to tell what’s real and what’s been just for show.
This age gap romance book includes a fake relationship story which I adore so it sounds perfect.
I like how these two characters seem different on the surface but I can’t wait to see how their attraction blooms.
Plus, I’m always up for finding a new book boyfriend who wears a kilt!
Lessons in Sin
by Pam Goodwin
There’s no absolution for the things I’ve done. But I found a way to control my impulses. I became a priest.
As Father Magnus Falke, I suppress my cravings. As the headteacher of a Catholic boarding school, I’m never tempted by a student. Until Tinsley Constantine.
Looking for an age gap romance book with some mega spice?! Holy heck does this one sound enticing.
I know that Goodwin is going to bring it hard in this dark, teacher-student romance that touches on the taboo in so many ways.
A Nordic King
by Karina Halle
When I first applied for the job I thought it would be like all the others: working as a nanny for an aristocratic family.
Now I’m the new nanny for two adorable little girls who happen to be princesses.
Their father is the widowed King of Denmark. And my new home? The royal palace in Copenhagen.
Adjusting to my new life isn’t easy but the hardest part hasn’t been the girls who still grieve over the loss of their mother. It’s their father.
King Aksel may have hired me to take care of his daughters but he wants as little to do with me as possible.
Yet the longer I share these palace walls with this man, the more that I’m drawn to him.
But no matter how I feel about him, we can never be together.
I’m so up for this age gap romance with the hardened hero who has turned off all feelings until the new nanny arrives.
I love that this novel brings a lot to the table (grief, single parenthood, royalty, forbidden relationships, etc) and can’t wait to see how it all unfolds.
Fallen Jester
by Devney Perry
Leo Winter loves his life. He works when he needs money. He rides when he craves freedom. He frequents the local bar when he wants a good time.
So when a one-night stand surprises him at a family barbecue and claims she’s pregnant with his child, everything changes.
Cassandra Cline took one night off from her structured life. One. And now her wild fling with the local bad boy has turned her life sideways.
Except avoiding him is impossible, as he refuses to leave her side when a series of strange accidents put her and their baby at risk.
But are they accidents? Or is she standing in the middle of a battlefield she doesn’t understand?
I had to put this age gap romance book on the list because it brings such a unique story.
I love the motorcycle club, small town angle with a surprise pregnancy thrown into the mix.
Cassandra isn’t a young girl who’s been nursing an unrequited crush but just wanted one night to let her hair down. Boy did she get that and more!
The Quarterback
by Tal Bauer
Falling for his friend’s straight dad might be the worst mistake Colton Hall has ever made.
Colton’s best friend is gay. He’s not: he’s never been attracted to men. So why the hell is he fantasizing about his friend’s dad? Besides, Nick Swanscott is straight.
The NFL is waiting for Colton, but he decides to stick it out for his senior year in college before joining the league, a decision that proves disastrous when an injury tears him from the game.
In the blink of an eye, Colton goes from being a top draft pick to potentially never playing football again.
But Nick is there through his recovery. He takes care of Colton every day and shows him a future that might hold something more than being a superstar quarterback.
And Colton’s is falling hopelessly in love.
I honestly cannot wait to see how this age gap romance unfolds.
Bauer brings the best gay romance novels and he does it again in this slow burn, friends to lovers, bi awakening, age gap romance.
Plus, if you love sports romance books with football players, that’s a definite bonus.
The Bride

I’m sixteen and I’m getting married. Super weird, I know.
It was just me and my dad, living on a cattle ranch in Montana, but then he left me an orphan.
Now I have two choices. A state foster home or marry Jake, my Dad’s foreman. And, really, my best friend.
It’s legal. It solves all my problems. Except now I’m living with Riverbend’s hottest cowboy – my husband in name only – and I’m still in high school.
It’s not forever. When I turn eighteen, we get a divorce. Then Jake and I can go back to being normal. Right?
Who loves a great marriage of convenience story? Well, this is the age gap romance book for you.
Jake (26) is willing to help out Ellie (16) and marry her so she can stay in her family home, despite having a girlfriend.
Queue the awkwardness, especially when Jake can no longer deny his growing feelings for Ellie!
This is a four-book novella series so be prepared to read all four books!
Devious Lies
by Parker Huntington
I had a plan to escape the friend zone, by sneaking into Reed’s room. But when the lights turned on, it wasn’t familiar blue eyes I saw.
These were dark, angry, and full of demons. And they belonged to Reed’s much older brother.
Four years later, Nash Prescott is no longer the help’s angry son. I’m no longer the town’s prized princess.
At twenty-two, I’m broke, in need of a job. At thirty-two, he’s a billionaire, in need of revenge.
Who cares if my family ruined his? Who cares if every task he assigns me is designed to torture?
I’ll suffer his cruelty in silence, knowing there’s one thing he wants more than revenge…Me.
You never have to twist my arm to read a popular, enemies to lovers romance.
This age gap romance book featuring a billionaire set on revenge is also a slow burn romance that sizzles.
Welcome to the Dark Side
by Giana Darling
I was a good girl. Then, I got cancer. I was a seventeen-year-old paradigm of virtue and I was tired of it.
So, when I finally ran into the man I’d been writing to since he saved my life as a little girl and he offered to show me the dark side of life before I left it for good, I said yes.
Only, I didn’t know that Zeus Garro was the President of The Fallen MC and when you made a deal with a man who is worse than the devil, there was no going back.
I am all in with this forbidden, age gap romance book!
Bring on all the angst between an ex-con MC President and the daughter of the town’s mayor in this motorcycle club book. Phew! Things are going to get interesting real quick.
Pretty Face
by Lucy Parker
When Lily Lamprey hears that esteemed director Luc Savage is renovating a legendary West End theater for a new production, she knows it could be her chance to prove her talents—if only Luc wasn’t so dictatorial, so bad-tempered and so incredibly hot.
Luc Savage has respect, integrity and experience. He also has it bad for Lily.
He’d be willing to dismiss it as a midlife crisis, but this exasperating, irresistible woman is actually a very talented actress.
Unfortunately, their romance is not only raising questions about Lily’s suddenly rising career, it’s threatening Luc’s professional reputation.
If they’re not careful, their budding love could bring down the curtain on both their careers.
I like that this is sort of an office, age gap romance book but between actress (26) and director (40).
If you like romances where things start off a bit rocky and then both characters start to question, “why am I even attracted to this person?” you’ll want to add this to your TBR list!
Reign of a King
by Rina Kent
Jonathan King is every bit his last name. Powerful. Untouchable. Corrupted.
He’s also my deceased sister’s husband and way older than me.
When I first met him as a clueless child, I thought he was a god. Now, I have to confront that god to protect my business from his ruthless grip.
Little did I know that declaring a war on the king will cost me everything.
Now, he has his sights on me. He wants to consume not only my body, but also my heart and my soul.
I fight, but there’s no escaping the king in his kingdom.
Buckle up for one dark duet! Jonathan is one of those dark, twisted billionaires that you can’t help but fall for. Apparently, Aurora does too.
Be forewarned that book one ends on a cliffhanger, so if you want the entire story, you’ll need to read book two as well.
Breaking Character
by Lee Winter
British A-lister and closeted actress, Elizabeth Thornton hates the top-rated TV medical drama that she stars in.
To add insult to injury, she’s become romantically linked to her new co-star, Summer, due to the young woman’s clumsiness.
Elizabeth is desperate to land her dream movie only the eccentric French film-maker insists on meeting her “girlfriend,” Summer, first.
I love that this age gap romance book is a sapphic romance with a nine years age gap difference between Elizabeth and Summer.
I like how this slow burn romance starts because of a rumor that they are together that necessitates a fake relationship and think you will too.
Let Me Hold You
by Alexandria House
NBA player, Leland McClain, the baby of the McClain family, is tall, handsome, talented and spoiled.
He’s a man who gets what he wants, and what he wants is the lovely Kimberly Hampton.
Kim Hampton is the director of a community center, a woman who lives to help others while trying to forget a troubling past.
As far as she’s concerned, a relationship with any man is a horrible idea. But a relationship with Leland McClain? That’s just out of the question.
He has to have her. She is undeniably attracted to him. But will she lower her guard and let him hold her?
Yes! Finally another age gap romance book between an older woman and a younger man!
Not going to lie, I love that Leland is an NBA player who’s set his sights on a woman just trying to get by. She just needs to learn to trust him!
Be forewarned however that domestic abuse is discussed in this romance.
Common Goal
by Rachel Reid
Veteran goaltender Eric Bennett is trying to make sense of life after hockey, starting with finally dating men for the first time.
Graduate student Kyle Swift moved to New York nursing a broken heart.
He’d sworn to find someone his own age to crush on (for once). Until he meets a gorgeous, distinguished silver fox hockey player.
Despite their intense physical attraction, Kyle has no intention of getting emotionally involved.
He’ll teach Eric a few tricks, have some mutually consensual fun, then walk away.
Eric is more than happy to learn anything Kyle brings to the table. And Kyle never expected their friends-with-benefits arrangement to leave him wanting more.
Happily-ever-after might be staring them in the face, but it won’t happen if they’re too stubborn to come clean about their feelings.
I love everything about this age gap romance! Former hockey player, MM romance, friends with benefits ala relationship coach storyline.
It’s too good to be true and hope it delivers.
Collateral
by Natasha Knight
Stefan Sabbioni showed up uninvited in my bedroom on my sixteenth birthday. That night, he left a message for my father.
He said he’d be back to take something precious.
I never delivered that message, though. I wonder if things would be different if I had because now, two years later, he’s back.
He’s come to make good on his promise. He’s back to take that something precious.
Me.
If you like an age gap romance served with a bit of blackmail in a dark romance, check this one out.
This is a marriage of convenience, mafia romance where the alpha male marries the young pawn.
Washed Up
by Kandi Steiner
It was just another day in the Emergency Department until she was wheeled in through the doors.
Amanda Parks, my childhood best friend’s mom who I may or may not have secretly kissed before leaving for college.
I haven’t seen her in over a decade, and in so many ways, she hasn’t changed.
But there isn’t a ring on her finger anymore, and I’m much more of a man than I was at eighteen.
Another older woman, younger man age gap romance but this one features a doctor!
Amanda is 47 and just getting out of a marriage and trying to figure out what she’s going to do with the next chapter of her life.
Greg has been out of medical school for a few years but is now back in his hometown, striking up a friendship with Amanda that becomes more.
The Emma Project
by Sonali Dev
Vansh Raje is California’s hottest single. Add to that a doting family and a contagiously sunny disposition and Vansh has made it halfway through his twenties without ever facing anything to throw him off his game.
A couple years from turning forty, Knightlina (Naina) Kohli has just gotten out of a ten-year-long fake relationship with Vansh’s brother and wants only two things.
One, to have nothing to do with the unfairly blessed Raje family ever again.
Two, to bring economic independence to millions of women in South Asia through her microfinance foundation and prove her father wrong about, well, everything.
Just when Naina’s dream is about to come to fruition, Vansh Raje shows up with his misguided Emma Project.
And suddenly she’s fighting him for funding and wondering if a friends-with-benefits arrangement that’s as toe-curlingly hot as it is fun is worth risking her life’s work for.
I’m really loving authors who feature heroines in their forties finding love.
There’s just something about the life experience and maturity that comes being later in life and finding love that brings an added element to the story.
Emma is one of my most favorite romantic stories so I love how Dev gives us a great diverse twist in this age gap romance book!
Sweet Temptation
By Cora Reilly
The first time Cassio meets his fiancée, she calls him “sir.” After losing his wife, Cassio is left to take care of two small children while trying to establish his rule over Philadelphia.
Now he needs a mother for his children and someone who can warm his bed at night.
But in a world as traditional as his, choosing your wife is duty not pleasure.
That’s how he ends up with a woman—a girl—barely of age. She may not be what he and his children need, but she’s lovely and a sweet temptation he can’t resist.
This age gap romance book is for all the mafia, arranged marriage lovers!
I personally like the twist that despite her young age, Giulia fights for the family she wants and doesn’t take the unequal relationship Cassio first offers.
Scoring Wilder
by R.S. Grey
What started out as a joke, seduce Coach Wilder, soon became a goal she had to score.
With Olympic tryouts on the horizon, the last thing nineteen-year-old Kinsley Bryant needs to add to her plate is Liam Wilder.
He’s a professional soccer player, America’s favorite bad-boy, and is strictly off limits.
Her coaches have made that perfectly clear. But that just makes him all the more enticing.
Kinsley tries to play the game her way as they navigate through forbidden territory, but Liam is determined to teach her a whole new definition for the term “team bonding.”
You have my permission to envision a young David Beckham while reading this age gap romance as Liam (25). And maybe a young Alex Morgan can play the role of Kinsley (19).
I absolutely love that Kinsley is trying to make it to the Olympics. Plus, I’m always game for a sports-themed romance. If you like them too, check this one out.
Praise by Sara Cate is my favorite and definitely should be on this list
OMG, Lukas by Carian Cole is the best age-gap romance I’ve ever read.
How can you forget the wildflower series?!
Everything by Cora Reilly 😍 also his pretty little burden and Power by Cassandra Robbins
This list is really helpful. I have read reign of a king. The duet was fantastic. So Thank you.
