Lost and Lassoed Summary:
Teddy Andersen doesnโt have a plan. Sheโs never needed one before. Sheโs always been more of a go-with-the-flow type of girl, but for some reason, the flow doesnโt seem to be going her way this time.
Her favorite vintage suede jacket has a hole in it, her sewing machine is broken, and her best friend just got engaged. Suddenly, everything feels like itโs starting to change. Teddy is used to being a leader, but now she feels like sheโs getting left behind, wondering if life in the small town she loves is enough for her anymore.
Gus Ryder has a lot on his plate. He doesnโt know whatโs harder: taking care of his familyโs 8,000 acre ranch, or parenting his spunky six-year-old daughter, who is staying with him for the summer. Gus has always been the dependable one, but when his workload starts to overwhelm him, he has to admit that he canโt manage everything on his own. He needs help.
His little sisterโs best friend, the woman he canโt stand, is not who he had in mind. But when no one else can step in, Teddyโs the only option heโs got. Teddy decides to use the summer to try and figure out what she wants out of life. Gus, on the other hand, starts to worry that heโll never find what he needs.
Tempers flare, tension builds, and for the first time ever, Gus and Teddy start to see each other in a different light. As new feelings start to simmer below the surface, they must decide whether they should act on them. Can they keep things cool? Or will both of them get burned?
Lost and Lassoed: My Review
My favorite of the Rebel Blue Ranch series so far! A must-read for fans of enemies to lovers!
Lyla Sageโs Rebel Blue Ranch series has been catnip for my cowboy romance-loving soul. I have adored these books but I wonโt lie is stating that I was desperate for Teddy and Gusโ story ever since their first tiff on the page in Done and Dusted.
Itโs so fun to get a glimpse of a couple that is just perfect for one another but the agony in waiting for their happily ever after can be brutal. Well, Lyla Sage delivered and then some with Lost and Lassoed making it one of my favorite books of 2024!
Iโm such a sucker for enemies to lovers romance book and Teddy and Gus are enemy #1 to each other despite their close connection โ Teddy being Gusโ little sisterโs best friend. The barbs that just flow freely from their mouths at each other as soon as one enters the room are hilarious and just perfection with neither holding back.
I loved how a bit of forced proximity finally enabled their chemistry to spill over or I should say finally rekindle from what was initially sparked many years ago.
I liked how Sage gave us a peek into the past to understand where this animosity and tension came from but also how their struggles in the present showed how truly right they were for one another because they truly โsawโ one another and the hurt they were shielding from others.
Teddy was starting to feel left behind in her small town, especially now that her bestie had found her soulmate and Gus was losing his battle trying to be all things to everybody while running the ranch.
What really stood out to me however besides the hot chemistry between Teddy and Gus was the focus on found family in this story. I adored every scene between Teddy and her father Hank. Their bond was so beautiful considering their beginning. I adore Amos and his love for his children and how he is there for those who arenโt even his flesh and blood. I love how Riley has such a big family raising her and loving her.
Donโt even get me started with Gus started calling her Teddy baby. Swoon!
THIS was the best part of this story and I cannot wait for it to continue in the fourth and final book when we get Cam and Dustyโs story in Wild & Wrangled https://amzn.to/3ULMxOz. I have a feeling that one might rival my feelings for this one as the best of the series!
If you love enemies to lovers romance books, beautiful found family stories, books about friendship and the bonds that tie us, then you will love Lost and Lassoed.
While it can probably be read as a standalone I think you would enjoy it more if you read at least one of the prior books first to really build up the tension between Gus and Teddy.
And finally can we just give a shout out to this cover designer?! Every single cover for this series has been one of a kind and this one is no different. My favorite of the bunch!
