The day my mother was killed, she told me to swallow my words, to push them down deep, and I haven’t spoken a word since. I’m no longer just a prisoner to my mother’s curse but I’m still invisible to those around me.

The Gifted are hunted in our lands and so I keep my words close. But there is one who hears my words and demands my devotion, my duty and perhaps my love.

This book will make you fall in love with fantasy romance!

Harmon is such a talented writer and she pens an unforgettable world and beautiful prose in this fantasy romance that is a perfect slow burn love story within a medieval world.

From the start you are pulled into a world of magic with dancing puppets and child innocence but you soon learn that this same world is not without its dangers.

I felt like I was in this beautiful medieval world filled with castles and warriors and maidens. But it’s not just any medieval world.

It’s one with magic but this magic is feared and thus destroyed or hidden to prevent such fate.

When it comes to fantasy, I love when a world seems familiar but it has magical elements that make it MORE.

I loved Harmon’s world and the magic that was weaved within it though there are also some paranormal elements as well.

Lark is such a unique heroine. She’s not particularly gorgeous and as a mute she can easily disappear into the background. But it’s a king who sees her and recognizes the gift within her.

Titas is a strong hero that I grew to love just as Lark did. He’s a man who has the weight of his kingdom on his shoulders and is driven by the fear of not being able to protect it.

I loved his passion and I loved the gentleness that he shows to Lark.

I also loved how their feelings slowly grew and developed, making this a delicious slow burn romance.

I highly recommend this book for all romance readers and especially fans of romantic fantasy.
