Books Like The Luckiest Lady in London (For Readers Who Love Clever Heroines and Complicated Heroes)
One of my favorite things about The Luckiest Lady in London by Sherry Thomas was the witty back-and-forth between Louisa and Felix. Louisa is such a strong, clever heroine who isn’t intimidated by Felix’s charm or reputation, and I loved how she could challenge him at every turn.
Of course, their marriage of convenience, undeniable chemistry, and the way Felix slowly lets down his guard make their love story even better.
If you loved the sharp banter, strong-willed heroine, and complicated hero in The Luckiest Lady in London, these are the historical romance books I’d recommend reading next. And for more of my favorite romance recommendations, be sure to join my email list.

Game of Rogues
by Julie Anne Long
Enemies to Lovers โข Family Obligations โข Morally Gray Hero
Louisa isn’t the only historical romance heroine willing to go toe-to-toe with a powerful man to secure her family’s future. Guinevere Woodville is desperate to recover the fortune her brother has gambled away, which means confronting Gabriel Marchand, the ruthless owner of a London gaming establishment.
The exchanges between Ginny and Gabriel are a big part of what makes this romance so entertaining, especially as she refuses to be intimidated by his reputation. I love a heroine who can hold her own against a formidable hero, and Ginny has that same determination and cleverness that made Louisa such a standout character for me.

Devil in Winter
by Lisa Kleypas
Marriage of Convenience โข Reformed Rake โข Wallflower Heroine
Much like Louisa, Evie Jenner knows that marrying a man with a questionable reputation may be her best chance at securing her future. She proposes a marriage of convenience to Sebastian, Lord St. Vincent, one of London’s most notorious rakes, with no illusions about the kind of husband he’ll be.
What I love about this pairing is how Evie’s quiet strength gradually changes everything. Sebastian may be accustomed to getting exactly what he wants, but he isn’t prepared for a wife who challenges him or for the feelings she inspires. It’s a wonderful choice for readers who loved watching Felix’s carefully guarded heart begin to open.

Devil’s Daughter
by Lisa Kleypas
Reformed Rake โข Widowed Heroine โข Opposites Attract
Felix isn’t the only historical romance hero whose past and reputation make him a questionable choice for love. West Ravenel has spent years making mistakes, and Phoebe, Lady Clare, has every reason to dislike him since he once bullied her late husband.
But when they finally meet, Phoebe discovers that West isn’t quite the man she’s imagined. Their growing attraction forces her to reconsider everything she’s believed about him, while West struggles with the idea that he could deserve someone like her. I love this one for its humor, emotional vulnerability, and the way Phoebe challenges West without letting him hide behind his past.

The King’s Man
by Elizabeth Kingston
Enemies to Lovers โข Medieval Romance โข Tortured Hero
If Felix’s darker, more complicated personality was what fascinated you, The King’s Man takes that emotional complexity into medieval Wales. Ranulf is a feared warrior who has spent years doing terrible things in service to his king, while Gwenllian is a formidable woman who has every reason to consider him her enemy.
Their relationship develops through reluctant trust and a growing recognition that they understand each other in ways few others could. I particularly love that Gwenllian isn’t intimidated by Ranulf or willing to back down when they clash. This is a more intense, gritty romance, but the combination of two strong personalities and emotional vulnerability makes it worth reading.

Neanderthal Seeks Duchess
by Laney Hatcher
Regency Romance โข Society Scandal โข Mysterious Hero
The importance of reputation in The Luckiest Lady in London is also central to Neanderthal Seeks Duchess. Lady Jane Morrison has attracted exactly the wrong kind of attention during the London season, threatening both her standing in society and the future she’s carefully planned.
Then a mysterious gentleman enters her life and complicates matters even further. Where Louisa is determined to see past Felix’s impeccable reputation, Jane must navigate a society quick to judge her own. This is a good choice if you enjoyed the social maneuvering, unexpected attraction, and clever heroines who refuse to let the ton dictate their futures.

Hit Me With Your Best Scot
by Suzanne Enoch
Marriage Pressure โข Scottish Hero โข Hidden Identity
Louisa isn’t the only historical romance heroine who understands that marriage can be as much a practical consideration as a romantic one. Coll MacTaggert must find an English bride or risk losing his family’s financial support, while actress Persephone Jones has secrets that make marriage the last thing she wants.
I love the reversal here: Coll is the one under pressure to marry, and Persephone is determined to maintain her independence. But there’s also a connection to Felix and Louisa in the way appearances conceal the truth. Coll begins to recognize the woman behind Persephone’s carefully maintained identity, and that changes everything.
