Things We Never Got Over Summary:
Bearded, bad-boy barber Knox prefers to live his life the way he takes his coffee: Alone. He doesn’t tolerate drama, even when it comes in the form of a stranded runaway bride.
Naomi wasn’t just running away from her wedding. She was riding to the rescue of her estranged twin only to have her evil twin steal Naomi’s car and cash, leaving Naomi with a niece she didn’t know she had.
Since Naomi’s life imploded right in front of Knox, the least he can do is help her out of her jam.
And just as soon as she stops getting into new trouble he can leave her alone and get back to his peaceful, solitary life.
At least, that’s the plan until the trouble turns to real danger.
Things We Never Got Over: My Review
#Booktok got it right! I LOVED Things We Never Got Over. One of the best romance novels of 2022!
Lucy Score makes writing romance look so easy. This book hooked me from the very first chapter and just did not let go.
The writing- incredible. Flawless. I just loved the banter between Knox and Naomi so much. The dialogue was spot on with this one.
The characters – adorable, HOT, hilarious. Side characters with such depth. I loved each and every one of these people and need ALL their stories.
The story – perfection. A grumpy/sunshine love story with the heart of a small-town romance and the angst of an opposites attract romance all in one.
This is only my second Lucy Score book but both have been 5 stars.
Just when you think anyone can craft a romance, you read a bad one and realize “oh no they can’t – this is so not good.” And then you pick up a gem like this one and realize what amazing talent looks like in the pages.
With over 500 pages, I only wanted to this story to go on and on. It never dragged – only got better with each chapter.
Knox is one of those grumpy alphas who thinks he’s got it all figured out on how to take care of people when he has it all backwards. He just needed sweet Naomi and adorable Waylay (and a brother a friend) to help him see that.
Naomi was a spitfire. I understood her need to help others, even at the expense of herself but she was not a helpless woman. Score made her strong yet vulnerable. Learning to lean on Knox and others did not come off as a weakness but a strength.
I cannot wait for the Things We Never Got Over series to continue. I highly recommend it! It definitely deserved its spot on the list of nominees for the 2022 Goodreads Choice Awards Nominees for Best Romance.
