How to Say I Do Summary:

Manhattan is my heart and soul. In the cutthroat world of elite public relations, I’m one of the princes and social media is my specialty.

But then, my own wedding bells turn into alarm bells, and suddenly, I’m off to Cancun—alone. Alone with a first-class ticket to a honeymoon for one.

Cancun is supposed to be where I obliterate myself on margaritas and tropical waves. But beneath it all, I long for someone to see the real me, the Noël I’ve hidden away for years. I’m so damn lonely.

And then I meet Wyatt.

He’s nothing like me. He’s a rancher from Texas, he can’t tell me whether high waist jeans are in or out, and he’d rather work his fields than rub elbows with celebs.

He’s also kinder than me and altruistic. He’s the best man I’ve ever met.

And that’s a problem, because all of his big-hearted warmth and Texas gentleness is drawing me in. I’m desperate to surrender, but I can’t.

Good things aren’t meant for me. I’m no good for Wyatt. In fact, I’m his looming heartbreak.

So why am I kissing him?

How To Say I Do: My Review

“One of the best opposites attract love stories that I’ve read in a long time!”

Sometimes you just read a book and get completely swept away. Swept away with the characters, their growing love story, even the side characters and the setting.

How to Say I Do completely swept me away and stole a complete day where I was immersed in Wyatt and Noel’s love story until the very end.

Tal Bauer’s work in gay romance has been on my TBR list for SO LONG and I’m kicking myself that I’ve only just dipped my foot in because I have a feeling I could go down the rabbit hole and completely binge-read his work and be very, very happy. 😊

This book was all about the characters for me. I was completely gone for Wyatt from the start and I couldn’t help but fall for the train wreck that was Noel too.

He may rub some people wrong but if you love him like I do, then you’ll absolutely love this book and this opposites attract love story.

But let me gush on Wyatt….oh this man is why I think ranchers and cowboys are just the hottest in romance books.

He had me wanting to pack my bags for the middle of nowhere Texas if he was going to be there. Plus his ranch. It sounds like heaven. And throw in a winery…I don’t think I’d ever leave.

I’ve never met a real cowboy and I’m sure there’s quite the stereotype for this kind of hero in romance books but I don’t care because I adored his quiet, contained manner, his devotion to his family, his home, and his horse, and his good heart.

He lost his parents as a teen and spent the next ten years looking out for his brother, rebuilding his family home, building a ranch, and creating amazing wine.

It wasn’t a secret he preferred men to women but his love life never took first priority. But then he’s off to Cancun for a few days before his wedding and he meets Noel and falls head over heels.

Now Noel is supposed to be going to Cancun on his honeymoon but he was left at the altar and is working his way on drinking himself to Mexico when he meets Wyatt.

Unlike Noel, this man is urban man to the core. He’s got designer clothes, works with celebrities and is a hot mess though understandably so.

But can you fall in love and find your soulmate in just four days?

Is your heart even open to something so new when you’ve been left AGAIN by someone who was supposed to love you?

Can you really make something last when you live in two complete worlds?

Well, you’ll just have to read the book to find out the answers to these questions.

Bauer’s writing was stellar from the start. I was falling in love right their with them in Cancun, and yet the journey after that trip was just as moving.

He really flushed out the struggles both men were facing and pulled it all together with such a wonderful ending.

If you love opposites attract love stories, strong cowboys, and MM romance books, you’ll want to pick up How to Say I Do which I easily consider one of the best romance novels of 2023.
