The Bodyguard Affair Summary:

The Bodyguard Affair: My Review

Amy Lea’s latest release made my list of top 10 new romance books of December 2025 because the book summary instantly hooked me.

• Fun, fake dating romance – check!
• Cinnamon roll hero  – check!
• A romance author who writes all the steam – check!

I’m happy to say that this ticked all the boxes for a really fun and sweet romance that also touches on some heavier topics such as Alzheimer’s and parental neglect.

It kicks off with an adorable meet-cute between Andi and Nolan which made me really excited for their fake relationship that I knew was coming. While I think Lea could have done more to ham up their fake relationship in the public (because they really didn’t go on many dates in public to “sell” their story to the tabloids), I thought Nolan was the sweetest cinnamon roll who was the biggest supporter of Andi’s romance writing career.

I appreciated his backstory about his relationship with his mother and her current struggle with Alzheimer’s which I thought was done exceptionally well and never overshadowed the central love story.

Was Andi a bit of a doormat? Yes, because she didn’t stick up for herself with her boss or her supposed best friend (why did she feel like she had to go to the wedding?!), and I also found the Prime Minister’s storyline about his marriage to be a bit off and underwhelming how it ended but overall this was a sweet story that fans of fake dating will enjoy.
