My Review of Vows and Vendettas
Boy, did Trilini create two fun characters in this one! I loved Callan and Francesca and their instant chemistry which just grew and grew with every encounter and text message on the page. This is absolutely my favorite kind of mafia romance. Itโs high on two characters (who happen to be from opposing families) and their attraction to each other instead of the violence of the mob world. Plus it features older characters which we need more of in romance.
Francesca is a woman in her forties who is more than she seems. She has two sisters who are forcing her to get out and dates who turn out to be duds. Itโs not until the mysterious and seriously hot man who catches her in a fall and who she keeps running into that she finally meets her match.
And boy is Callan easy to fall for. You get to understand that heโs the man behind the Irish mob but despite his attempts to not get serious with anyone for they would be at risk as his partner, he canโt help but be absolutely captivated by Francesca. It was so fun to see these two in the battle of whits, with the best flirting while only trading fake names. But despite how much they keep from each other their attraction and โcanโt get enough of you energyโ is real.
Callanโs men also provide some fun comedic relief but itโs truly the Callan and Francesca show and I loved every minute of it.
I received an advance reader copy. All opinions are my own.
