My Review of Swipe Bite
This was such a fun read and such a unique set up for a vampire romance. Alexandra creates her own contemporary world that happens to have vampires and humans living together, and Sophronia and her company have designed a dating app that shows compatability between vampires and humans. Compatability is key since a vampire canโt just drink from any human as the risk for the human bleeding out once bitten is high if they arenโt compatable โ so as I said, super cool set up. But, the crux is that the app has glitched, and people who thought they are compatible are actually put at risk which is the catalyst for Sophronia and software engineerย Casey working together to discover what happened and how to fix it.
This book had all the right pieces flowing โ an interesting storyline (what happened to this app?), suspense that has you turning the pages (did someone sabotage the app and if so, why?), and two complete opposites thrown together with instant attraction. Sophronia and Casey were an easy couple to root for. They both felt a drive to uncover the truth because they believed in the app and knew that their work was impactful to the world of humans and vampires alike. I loved how Sophronia couldnโt help but react whenever Casey was in the room because his scent was so compelling. And Casey was completely gaga over the cold executive but never backed away. They were great together.
They also have a fun band of helpers in their quest to uncover the truth which made things even more fun though I think this book could have been even better had we had deeper characterization for all the characters.
I had so much fun trying to uncover the mystery along with them which was an added bonus to watching Sophronia and Casey try and keep their hands (and mouths) off each other.
If youโre looking for a fun romantic suspense that has wonderful paranormal vibes with vampires but feels like a contemporary read then this deserves a spot on your TBR list. I really enjoyed it and already love the set up for book two in the series. I look forward to reading it next!
I received an advance reader copy. All opinions are my own.
