The Best Vampire Romance Books to Read Right Now
From Blood and Ash
by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Poppy’s life has never been her own. As the Maiden, the future of the kingdom rests on her shoulders, and she is to remain untouched, in solitary, until the day of her Ascension. But when Hawke takes up the post as her Royal Guard, she begins to question her duty and her desire that he has awoken.
As tensions among the Desenters rise and attacks on the kingdom increase, Poppy is at risk of failing the gods, denying her destiny and possibly losing her life or her heart.
This is a fantastic book but just book one of what is one of the best fantasy and paranormal romance series worth reading.
While the vampire paranormal aspects become more pronounced as the From Blood and Ash series goes on, you NEED to read this book for Poppy and Hawke. They are one of my favorite romance couples! Check out my book review of From Blood and Ash.

Bride
by Ali Hazelwood
Misery Lark, the only daughter of the most powerful Vampyre councilman of the Southwest, is an outcast—again.
Her days of living in anonymity among the Humans are over: she has been called upon to uphold a historic peacekeeping alliance between the Vampyres and their mortal enemies, the Weres, and she sees little choice but to surrender herself in the exchange—again…
Weres are ruthless and unpredictable, and their Alpha, Lowe Moreland, is no exception. He rules his pack with absolute authority, but not without justice.
And, unlike the Vampyre Council, not without feeling. It’s clear from the way he tracks Misery’s every movement that he doesn’t trust her. If only he knew how right he was….
Because Misery has her own reasons to agree to this marriage of convenience, reasons that have nothing to do with politics or alliances, and everything to do with the only thing she’s ever cared about.
And she is willing to do whatever it takes to get back what’s hers, even if it means a life alone in Were territory…alone with the wolf.
If you think Ali Hazelwood can only write contemporary enemies to lovers romance books, think again as she slays it with this werewolf and vampire romance which is one of the best!
If you love romance books with the best characters that carry a story with suspense and the sweetest of slow burn romances, then you have to pick this up.
Misery seems like a tragic character on paper but this vampire had so many layers! She was a hacker, a fierce friend, a loner and someone so strong. It’s a must read!

My Roommate is a Vampire
by Jenna Levine
Cassie Greenberg loves being an artist, but it’s a tough way to make a living. On the brink of eviction, she’s desperate when she finds a too-good-to-be-true apartment in a beautiful Chicago neighborhood. Cassie knows there has to be a catch—only someone with a secret to hide would rent out a room for that price.
Of course, her new roommate Frederick J. Fitzwilliam is far from normal. He sleeps all day, is out at night on business, and talks like he walked out of a regency romance novel.
He also leaves Cassie heart-melting notes around the apartment, cares about her art, and asks about her day. And he doesn’t look half bad shirtless, on the rare occasions they’re both home and awake. But when Cassie finds bags of blood in the fridge that definitely weren’t there earlier, Frederick has to come clean…
Cassie’s hot new roommate is a vampire. And he has a proposition for her.
Levine is cranking out the vampire romance books starting with this fun, roommates to lovers romp about a heroine who helps a vampire adapt to the modern world. If you’re looking for a lighter vampire romance without the gore but high on fun and quirkiness then check this one out.
Court of the Vampire Queen
by Katee Robert
All Mina ever wanted was to escape her father’s control. Half human, half vampire, she lived eternally torn between two worlds, never fully experiencing the pleasures of either―until her father chose her as the pawn in his latest political move, gifting her to the darkly powerful and dangerously seductive Malachi Zion.
Malachi is not a vampire to be trifled with. He rules with an iron fist and has a reputation for the darkest of sins. But the longer Mina spends with him, the more she realizes he’s not the monster she first thought―and as fear bleeds into lust, then trust, then something more, Malachi opens Mina up to a world she never knew could be hers for the taking: including the love of Malachi’s two closest friends and companions.
Now surrounded by all three men, the center of their shockingly seductive world, Mina may finally have the power to face down her father and take back the life―and crown―that by all rights should be hers. LONG LIVE THE QUEEN.
If you’re in the mood for a hot and spicy vampire romance book then Katee Robert is your go-to author. This is a MMMF polyamourous romance featuring not one but three hot vampires for your pleasure. It’s a compilation of her Bloodline Vampires trilogy (Sacrifice, Heir, and Queen) all in one- score!
Filthy Rich Vampire
by Geneva Lee
Julian Rousseaux has a problem. He’s single, and for the world’s wealthiest vampires, the social season is about to begin. Julian would rather stake himself than participate in the marriage market. But as the eldest eligible Rousseaux, he’s expected to find a wife before the season ends—whether he likes it or not.
When cellist Thea literally stumbles into his life at a gala, he knows she’s the last person he could ever fall in love with. She’s too innocent, too kind, and way too human. But now that she knows about his world, she’s also a walking target. She needs protection. He needs a fake girlfriend to discourage overzealous vampire matchmaking.
So, Julian makes Thea an irresistible offer: pretend to be his lover and he’ll change her life. For one year, they’ll attend the season’s social events together in exchange for his protection and a way out of her mother’s crippling medical debt.
She can’t say no. But the vampire world is impossibly decadent and darker than Thea ever imagined, and Julian’s filthy rich vampire family wants her out of the way. But with each moment they share, new dangers emerge: a desire as forbidden as their stolen touches, an awakening of a long-dead heart, and secrets that could tear them both apart.
For a contemporary vampire romance book that gives off billionaire romance vibes you’ll want to grab this book, the first in Lee’s Filthy Rich Vampire series. It will also appeal to those who love age gap romance since the thousand-year-old-ish vampire falls for the innocent twenty-two-year old musician.
Nightfall
L.H. Cosway
When Teagan is rescued from a robbery attempt at work, she didn’t expect it to launch her into a world inhabited by vampires, slayers, dhampirs, witches and warlocks.
All of these players however recognize that Teagan is not just a lowly convenience store worker but someone quite unique and perhaps even more useful. Now she’s launched into a battle between species and an attraction with a vampire who’s after her heart.
When reading vampire romance books in a series, sometimes the first book can feel incomplete, but for book one in Cosway’s Blood Magic series, I felt like I got a full, complete book.
Great world-building, a good story, intrigue, romance, and just enough of a hook to want to see what happens next – you can’t go wrong with this one! Check out my book review of Nightfall.
Reborn Yesterday
by Tessa Bailey
It was a night like any other for funeral home director Ginny Lynn, until the exceptionally handsome, and unfortunately deceased, young man on her embalming table sat up, opened his emerald eyes and changed the course of her life forever
Humans aren’t supposed to know Jonas Cantrell, or any vampire, exists. It’s kind of a major rule. Despite his instantaneous bond with perfectly peculiar Ginny, he has no choice but to erase her memories of their one and only meeting.
That was the plan. Before a reluctant Jonas can wipe Ginny’s mind clean, she reveals a secret that brings their worlds crashing together. And while their love is strictly forbidden, it might be the only thing that can save them.
Tessa Bailey wows me with the range of romance books she writes. If she wants to dive into paranormal romance and write a vampire romance book, I’m in!
This is a slow burn romance between a vampire and a quirky human that Bailey writes best.
When Life Gives You Vampires
by Gloria Duke
Twenty-five year old Lily Baines is used to waking up hungover, overweight, and underemployed. Waking up with fangs? Not so much.
Tristan hadn’t meant to turn Lily—it’s against vampire law—but now that she’s here, they need to team up to save both their hides.
They strike an uneasy truce, fending off other vampires, Lily’s work-rival-turned-slayer, and her mother’s fitness advice all while Lily faces down her insecurities about the fact that she lives in a diet-obsessed world with a body that will never age and never change.
She’s falling for her gorgeous sire, and trying to survive an ancient vampire Master, but can Lily ever truly learn to love the woman she’ll be forever more?
I love how this vampire romance book is all about body positivity. It seems to fit a more light, contemporary romance feel versus a dark and brooding paranormal romance with vampires. I’m game to see where Duke takes this one!
Tall, Dark & Lonely
by R.L. Mathewson
Detective Ephraim Williams learned long ago not to show any emotion or allow himself to get attached to humans.
When his new neighbors move in, he didn’t expect to have to fight bloodlust every time he so much as caught the scent of his delectable neighbor’s blood or her bombarding him with questions every time she cornered him.
If that’s not bad enough, a Master from his past has found him once again and is demanding his blood and is willing to do anything to get it, even using the beautiful, irritating, neighbor that makes him feel more than pain for the first time in centuries to get it.
Mathewson always writes some crazy characters and there definitely are some in this vampire romance book that kicks off her Pyte/Sentinel series.
I loved Ephraim who tries his best to be standoffish but just can’t resist Madison. He’s definitely a vampire you won’t have any trouble falling for.
King of Battle and Blood
by Scarlett St. Clair
Isolde de Lara considers her wedding day to be the day her life ends. To end a years-long battle, she is to marry vampire king Adrian Aleksandr Vasiliev, and destroy him. But her attempt is thwarted, and Adrian threatens that if Isolde tries to end him again, he will raise her as a vampire.
Faced with the possibility of becoming the thing she hates most, Isolde seeks other ways to defy him and survive the brutal vampire court.
Except it isn’t the court she fears most—it’s Adrian. Despite their undeniable chemistry, she wonders why the king—fierce, savage, merciless—chose her as consort.
Enemies to lovers and marriage of convenience are two of my most favorite romance book tropes so I couldn’t help but add this vampire romance book to the list since it has BOTH tropes!
Plus, it’s full of steamy, steamy moments so that’s always a plus in my book too 😊.
Resting Witch Face
by Juliette Cross
Twelve years ago, Jules Savoie ended her relationship with the vampire overlord of New Orleans, Ruben Dubois. For good reasons. A woman in power must often make sacrifices to protect others. She knows the truth of it down to her aching heart.
When Ruben watches his best friend Devraj get married, a stinging realization hits him hard…he’s done waiting. They say time heals all wounds. In this case, it merely sharpened the pain and made one fact crystal clear. Jules Savoie is his soulmate, and nothing would keep her from him. Not anymore.
Forced to work side by side to fight for the werewolf cause, they campaign together at covens from New Orleans to London. The reignited spark burns hotter than ever before. But when a power-hungry vampire sets his predatory sights on Jules, will their love be strong enough against black magic? Or will he lose her again? And this time, maybe…for good.
If you haven’t yet dived into Cross’ Stay a Spell series, this may be the one to do it if you love second chance romance along with vampire romance and witches!
Jules is such a strong heroine, the matriarch witch of the family so-to-speak and the chemistry she has with the vampire overlord is off the charts. Finally, you get their story of where it all begin and if they can find their way back to one another.

Halfway to the Grave
by Jeaniene Frost
Half-vampire Catherine Crawfield is going after vampires with a vengeance, hoping that one of the deadbeats is her father—the one responsible for ruining her mother’s life.
Then she’s captured by Bones, a vampire bounty hunter, and is forced into an unholy partnership.

Pretty soon Bones will have her convinced that being half-vampire doesn’t have to be all bad. But before she can enjoy her newfound status as demon hunter, Cat and Bones are pursued by a group out to get them.
Now Cat will have to choose a side, and Bones is turning out to be as tempting as any man with a heartbeat.
This is book one in the Night Huntress series which fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer will devour.
It’s got heat, seductive banter and will just take you along for the ride. If you’re looking for some good ‘ole fashion vampire slaying, this is one of the vampire romance books for you.
Twilight
by Stephanie Meyer
Isabella Swan’s move to Forks, Washington, could have been the most boring move she ever made. But once she meets the mysterious and alluring Edward Cullen, Isabella’s life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn.
Up until now, Edward has managed to keep his vampire identity a secret in the small community he lives in, but now nobody is safe, especially Isabella, the person Edward holds most dear.
Dive into this young adult vampire romance book and decide for yourself whether you are Team Edward or Team Jacob.
While Bella can be a bit much at times, I love the small community feel and the vampire versus werewolf camps.
A Hunger Like No Other
by Kresley Cole
After enduring years of torture from the vampire horde, Lachlain MacRieve, leader of the Lykae Clan, is enraged to find the predestined mate he’s waited millennia for is a vampire. Or partly one.

There, her fear of the Lykae—and their notorious dark desires—ebbs as he begins a slow, wicked seduction to sate her own dark cravings.
Cole’s romance is definitely one of the most popular vampire romance books. You’ll get a mix of vampire and werewolf in this paranormal romance. Swoon!
Plus, any romance book with a hot Scotsman has to be worth a read! If you love fated mates, you’ll want to add this vampire romance novel on your TBR list.
