The vampire romance craze is alive and well in books and on TV.

Vampire love got a huge boost with the hit TV series True Blood, based on the Charlaine Harris’ Sookie Stackhouse series of vampire romance books.

Then of course there were the runaway hits of the Twilight movies based on Stephanie Meyer’s young adult vampire romance books followed by the fan-favorite TV show, The Vampire Diaries.

For me, my love of vampire romance started with Buffy the Vampire Slayer and now fans can enjoy another new, young adult vampire romance TV series with Netflix’s latest.

But if you’re looking to sink your teeth into the best vampire romance books worth reading, then I have the list of books for you.

Popular Vampire Romance Books

While Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight series definitely kicked off a new breed of vampire romance book lovers, her books weren’t the first vampire romance novels on the scene.

This book list starts out with the popular vampire romance books that started it all.

These books that helped launch this category of novels pack a good bite with some definitely a bit darker than the genre’s current titles.

Latest Vampire Romance Novels

More recent vampire romance books, on the other hand, may still be a bit dark, but there are also a few tending toward the lighter vampire romance as well.

Whether you like a dark and gruesome paranormal romance, or vampire romance books that are less so, you’ll have your pick below.

This book list starts where it all began with popular vampire romance novels that kicked off the craze, but then it transitions to the newer wave of vampire romance books.

What are your favorite vampire romance novels? Share in the comments below.

Racked by a restlessness in her body that wasn’t there before, Beth Randall is helpless against the dangerously hot man who comes to her at night with shadows in his eyes.

His tales of the Brotherhood and blood frighten her. Yet his touch ignites a dawning new hunger—one that threatens to consume them both.

If you’re going to go down the road of vampire romance books, why not start with the popular Black Dagger Brotherhood series that has dazzled fans for years?

With twenty books and counting, plus a spin-off series, Ward’s are some of the best vampire romance novels that pack a real bite!

In exchange for finding her father, Cat agrees to train with the night stalker until her battle reflexes are as sharp as his fangs.

Now Cat will have to choose a side, and Bones is turning out to be as tempting as any man with a heartbeat.

This is book one in the Night Huntress series which fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer will devour.

It’s got heat and seductive banter and will just take you along for the ride. If you’re looking for some good ‘ole fashion vampire slaying, this is one of the vampire romance books for you.

Night Pleasures by Sherrilyn Kenyon is one of the best vampire romance books worth reading. Check out the entire book list of vampire romance novels worth reading from She Reads Romance Books.

Night Pleasures
by Sherrilyn Kenyon

He is darkness. He is the ruler of the night. Yet Kyrian of Thrace has just woken up handcuffed to his worst nightmare: An accountant.

Worse, she’s being hunted by one of the most lethal vampires out there. And if Amanda Devereaux goes down, then he does too.

But it’s not just their lives that are hanging in the balance. Kyrian and Amanda are all that stands between humanity and oblivion. Let’s hope they win.

I love books that have a bit of Greek mythology to them and this vampire romance book and the Dark Hunter series has just that.

There’s also something about stories with a character who is initially unaware of the powers within them. See how Amanda reacts to hers and her attraction to Kyrian in this one.

A Quick Bite by Lynsay Sands is one of the best vampire romance books worth reading. Check out the entire book list of vampire romance novels worth reading from She Reads Romance Books.

A Quick Bite
by Lynsey Sands

Lissianna has been spending her centuries pining for Mr. Right, not just a quick snack, and this hot guy she finds in her bed looks like he might be a candidate.

But there’s another, more pressing issue: her tendency to faint at the sight of blood, an especially annoying quirk for a vampire.

Dr. Gregory Hewitt recovers from the shock of waking up in a stranger’s bedroom pretty quickly—once he sees a gorgeous woman about to treat him to a wild night of passion.

But is it possible for the good doctor to find true love with a vampire vixen, or will he be just a good meal?

That’s a question Dr. Greg might be willing to sink his teeth into, if he can just get Lissianna to bite.

What is it with vampire romance books with characters tied to beds? I’m not questioning it but am all for it. 😊

I like how this book has the female as the vampire and the male as the human which is a bit of a flip for most vampire romance novels.

Plus, the fact that Lissianna has hemaphobia is quite hysterical in my opinion.

Guilty Pleasures by Laurell Hamilton is one of the best vampire romance books worth reading. Check out the entire book list of vampire romance novels worth reading from She Reads Romance Books.

Guilty Pleasures
by Laurell K. Hamilton

Anita Blake is small, dark, and dangerous. Her turf is the city of St. Louis.

Her job: re-animating the lost and destroying vampires who take things too far.

But when the city’s most powerful vampire asks her to solve a series of vicious slayings, Anita must confront her greatest fear—her undeniable attraction to master vampire Jean-Claude, one of the creatures she is sworn to destroy.

If you love vampire romance books that are a bit more urban fantasy, then check out Hamilton’s first in the Anita Blake Vampire Hunter series.

I like how this series is built on a world where vampires are just a part of society and Anita is actually looking into why someone or something is taking out Vampire Masters.

Twilight is one of the best vampire romance books worth reading. Check out the entire book list of vampire romance novels worth reading from She Reads Romance Books.

Twilight
by Stephanie Meyer

Isabella Swan’s move to Forks, Washington, could have been the most boring move she ever made.

But once she meets the mysterious and alluring Edward Cullen, Isabella’s life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn.

Up until now, Edward has managed to keep his vampire identity a secret in the small community he lives in, but now nobody is safe, especially Isabella, the person Edward holds most dear.

Dive into this young adult vampire romance book and decide for yourself whether you are Team Edward or Team Jacob.

While Bella can be a bit much at times, I love the small community feel and the vampire versus werewolf camps.

The Vampire Diaries by L.J. Smith is one of the best vampire romance books worth reading. Check out the entire book list of vampire romance novels worth reading from She Reads Romance Books.

The Vampire Diaries

Elena Gilbert is a high school golden girl, used to getting what she wants. And who she wants.

What’s more, Stefan’s dark, dangerous vampire brother Damon has just arrived in town. And wherever Damon goes, trouble always follows.

This is another young adult vampire romance book that became even more popular with its TV series.

If you enjoy a good love triangle, then check out the Vampire Diaries series!

Vampire Academy is one of the best vampire romance books worth reading. Check out the entire book list of vampire romance novels worth reading from She Reads Romance Books.

Vampire Academy
by Richelle Mead

St. Vladimir’s Academy isn’t just any boarding school—it’s a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them.

Vampire Academy is another hugely popular vampire romance book series.

It was made into a movie in 2014, so if you like to see your books come to life on the big screen, read it first and then check out the movie.

Morrigan's Cross by Nora Roberts is one of the best vampire romance books worth reading. Check out the entire book list of vampire romance novels worth reading from She Reads Romance Books.

From Blood and Ash
by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Poppy’s life has never been her own. As the Maiden, the future of the kingdom rests on her shoulders, and she is to remain untouched, in solitary, until the day of her Ascension.

But when Hawke takes up the post as her Royal Guard, she begins to question her duty and her desire that he has awoken.

As tensions among the Desenters rise and attacks on the kingdom increase, Poppy is at risk of failing the gods, denying her destiny and possibly losing her life or her heart.

This is a fantastic book but just book one of what is one of the best fantasy/paranormal romance series worth reading.

While the vampire paranormal aspects become more pronounced as the series goes on, you NEED to read this book for Poppy and Hawke. They are one of my favorite romance couples! My Review.

Nightfall is one of the best vampire romance books worth reading. Check out the entire book list of vampire romance novels worth reading from She Reads Romance Books.

Nightfall
L.H. Cosway

When Teagan is rescued from a robbery attempt at work, she didn’t expect it to launch her into a world inhabited by vampires, slayers, dhampirs, witches and warlocks.

All of these players however recognize that Teagan is not just a lowly convenience store worker but someone quite unique and perhaps even more useful.

Now she’s launched into a battle between species and an attraction with a vampire who’s after her heart.

When reading vampire romance books in a series, sometimes the first book can feel incomplete, but for book one in Cosway’s Blood Magic series, I felt like I got a full, complete book.

Great world-building, a good story, intrigue, romance, and just enough of a hook to want to see what happens next – you can’t go wrong with this one! My Review.

Blood Type is one of the best vampire romance books worth reading. Check out the entire book list of vampire romance novels worth reading from She Reads Romance Books.

Blood Type
by K.A. Linde

For Reyna Carpenter, giving up her body isn’t a choice. It’s survival.

In a civilization laid to waste by poverty and desperation, Reyna accepts a high-paying position with the wealthy and hungry vampire elite.

Her new job is as the live-in blood escort for the intimidating, demanding, and devilishly handsome Beckham Anderson.

He’s everything she expected from a vampire, except for one thing – he won’t feed off her.

Reyna soon discovers that behind Beckham’s brooding, wicked façade lies a unique and complex man. And that in a dark and divided world, she is more valuable than she ever would have believed.

For with each passing night, Reyna can’t shake the sensation that it’s Beckham who’s afraid of her.

Looking for new type of vampire romance book set in a dystopian world? You’ll want to check out Blood Type in which vampire rule and humans live in poverty.

I’m so fascinated by Reyna who becomes a blood escort. If you are too and want to delve into a paranormal romantic suspense novel, check this one out.

Reborn Yesterday by Tessa Bailey is one of the best vampire romance books worth reading. Check out the entire book list of vampire romance novels worth reading from She Reads Romance Books.

Reborn Yesterday
by Tessa Bailey

It was a night like any other for funeral home director Ginny Lynn, until the exceptionally handsome, and unfortunately deceased, young man on her embalming table sat up, opened his emerald eyes and changed the course of her life forever

Humans aren’t supposed to know Jonas Cantrell, or any vampire, exists. It’s kind of a major rule.

Despite his instantaneous bond with perfectly peculiar Ginny, he has no choice but to erase her memories of their one and only meeting.

That was the plan. Before a reluctant Jonas can wipe Ginny’s mind clean, she reveals a secret that brings their worlds crashing together.

And while their love is strictly forbidden, it might be the only thing that can save them.

Tessa Bailey wows me with the range of romance books she writes. If she wants to dive into paranormal romance and write a vampire romance book, I’m in!

This is a slow burn romance between a vampire and a quirky human that Bailey writes best.

When Life Gives You Vampires is one of the best vampire romance books worth reading. Check out the entire book list of vampire romance novels worth reading from She Reads Romance Books.

When Life Gives You Vampires
by Gloria Duke

Twenty-five year old Lily Baines is used to waking up hungover, overweight, and underemployed. Waking up with fangs? Not so much.

Tristan hadn’t meant to turn Lily—it’s against vampire law—but now that she’s here, they need to team up to save both their hides.

They strike an uneasy truce, fending off other vampires, Lily’s work-rival-turned-slayer, and her mother’s fitness advice all while Lily faces down her insecurities about the fact that she lives in a diet-obsessed world with a body that will never age and never change.

She’s falling for her gorgeous sire, and trying to survive an ancient vampire Master, but can Lily ever truly learn to love the woman she’ll be forever more?

I love how this vampire romance book is all about body positivity.

It seems to fit a more quirky, contemporary romance feel versus a dark and brooding paranormal romance with vampires.

I’m game to see where Duke takes this one!

My Big Fat Bloodsucker Wedding is one of the best vampire romance books worth reading. Check out the entire book list of vampire romance novels worth reading from She Reads Romance Books.

My Big Fat Bloodsucker Wedding
by Bella Jacobs

My sister, Annie, won’t admit it, but she doesn’t love Colin, her fiance.

She’s sacrificing herself so we can stay in Nightfall, New Hampshire, and renew the magical shield keeping the paranormal creatures here, including witches like us, safe from human discovery.

I have ten days to find another way, aside from a bloodsucker wedding, to secure our legacy. So, imagine my surprise when the wretched, though admittedly smoking hot, Darcy Blackmore comes to the rescue.

He proposes we pretend to be hot for each other, trick Annie and Colin into confessing they don’t really want to tie the knot, and sort out how to save the town once the wedding bells are silenced.

If only Darcy wasn’t every bit as delicious as he is obnoxious. If only I could keep faking it with the world’s hottest vampire without losing at love.

I love how these two supposed opposites are willing to come together in a fake relationship to keep their siblings from saying I do.

It’s a perfect Pride and Prejudice retelling with vampires!

Hot Vampire Next Door is one of the best vampire romance books worth reading. Check out the entire book list of vampire romance novels worth reading from She Reads Romance Books.

Hot Vampire Next Door
by Nikki St. Crowe

It’s near impossible to ignore my vampire neighbor, Bran Duval, when he has a habit of shucking off his clothes while the blinds are up.

He’s playing games with me, but I don’t mind a challenge.

Only problem is, I’m supposed to pledge myself to a rival vampire family and now all I can think about is Bran Duval, black sheep of the Duval vampire family, and the wicked things he’s promising to do to me in the dark.

Hot Vampire Next Door is a new type of vampire romance book as it started as a Kindle Vella serial.

You can check it out in it’s current version but is considered an ongoing serial about a vampire who realizes he might be a little more protective than he first realized.

Never Trust a Guy With Fangs is one of the best vampire romance books worth reading. Check out the entire book list of vampire romance novels worth reading from She Reads Romance Books.

Never Trust a Guy with Fangs
by Mia Monroe

The first rule of being a witch: don’t trust the vampires.

We tenuously coexist in the New England city of Eaton Falls, where the locals think we’re merely the stuff of fairy tales and horror movies.

Everything is fine until the day I wake up inside notorious Eaton Manor, in the bed of none other than the hot and terrifying head vampire, Augustus Rainier, with no memory of how I got there.

I know the inherent danger of associating with violent, often unpredictable vampires, but he makes my skin tingle.

When danger shows up at Eaton Manor, it becomes clear it’s not only the witches in trouble.

Both covens need to decide: do we fight separate battles against the same enemy or break every rule in our history and join forces to defeat a common foe?

This made my list because it’s a MM vampire romance book and I haven’t found too many of these!

It is book one in the Covens of Eaton Falls series and is not considered a standalone, so check out all of the vampire romance books in it.

Tall, Dark and Lonely is one of the best vampire romance books worth reading. Check out the entire book list of vampire romance novels worth reading from She Reads Romance Books.

Tall, Dark & Lonely
by R.L. Mathewson

Detective Ephraim Williams learned long ago not to show any emotion or allow himself to get attached to humans.

When his new neighbors move in, he didn’t expect to have to fight bloodlust every time he so much as caught the scent of his delectable neighbor’s blood or her bombarding him with questions every time she cornered him.

If that’s not bad enough, a Master from his past has found him once again and is demanding his blood and is willing to do anything to get it, even using the beautiful, irritating, neighbor that makes him feel more than pain for the first time in centuries to get it.

Mathewson always writes some crazy characters and there definitely are some in this vampire romance book that kicks off her Pyte/Sentinel series.

I loved Ephraim who tries his best to be standoffish but just can’t resist Madison. He’s definitely a vampire you won’t have any trouble falling for.

Dark Prince is one of the best vampire romance books worth reading. Check out the entire book list of vampire romance novels worth reading from She Reads Romance Books.

Dark Prince
by Michelle Hercules

There are only two ways a human can cross the gates of Bloodstone Institute: as a familiar to one of the Blueblood vampires who attend the elite school or as a snack.

I’m neither, but I have to get in at all costs.

My brother made a big mistake, and now I have to fix it by stealing from the most powerful and cruel vampire to ever come to Bloodstone, Lucca Della Morte.

Plus, I have to do it before the spell concealing my human nature wears off.

But I forget that I’m only pretending to be a vampire, and I’m falling for the dark prince.

Take a spin with this vampire romance book with the added twist of royalty that is set within modern day Salem, Massachusetts.

I love stories with curses and deceptions that only add to the heat and smoldering chemistry between the main characters.

King of Battle and Blood is one of the best vampire romance books worth reading. Check out the entire book list of vampire romance novels worth reading from She Reads Romance Books.

King of Battle and Blood
by Scarlett St. Clair

Isolde de Lara considers her wedding day to be the day her life ends.

To end a years-long battle, she is to marry vampire king Adrian Aleksandr Vasiliev, and destroy him.

But her attempt is thwarted, and Adrian threatens that if Isolde tries to end him again, he will raise her as a vampire.

Faced with the possibility of becoming the thing she hates most, Isolde seeks other ways to defy him and survive the brutal vampire court.

Except it isn’t the court she fears most—it’s Adrian. Despite their undeniable chemistry, she wonders why the king—fierce, savage, merciless—chose her as consort.

Enemies to lovers and marriage of convenience are two of my most favorite romance book tropes so I couldn’t help but add this vampire romance book to the list since it has BOTH tropes!

Plus, it’s full of steamy, steamy moments so that’s always a plus in my book too 😊.

Don't Hex and Drive is one of the best vampire romance books worth reading. Check out the entire book list of vampire romance novels worth reading from She Reads Romance Books.

Don’t Hex and Drive

Notoriously bad at peopling, Isadora Savoie is content to remain in the background of the Savoie sister shenanigans.

But when neighborhood girls go missing, she’s reluctantly partnered with a flashy, flirty vampire to find them before it’s too late.

And after just one taste, he’s playing for keeps.

If you haven’t yet dived into Cross’ Stay a Spell series, this may be the one to do it if you love a swoony, Bollywood star vampire!

This vampire romance book is a terrific, opposites attract love story between an introverted witch and a pining vampire.

A Hunger Like No Other is one of the best vampire romance books worth reading. Check out the entire book list of vampire romance novels worth reading from She Reads Romance Books.

A Hunger Like No Other
by Kresley Cole

After enduring years of torture from the vampire horde, Lachlain MacRieve, leader of the Lykae Clan, is enraged to find the predestined mate he’s waited millennia for is a vampire. Or partly one.

Sheltered Emmaline finally sets out to uncover the truth about her deceased parents—until a powerful Lykae claims her as his mate and forces her back to his ancestral Scottish castle.

There, her fear of the Lykae—and their notorious dark desires—ebbs as he begins a slow, wicked seduction to sate her own dark cravings.

Cole’s romance is definitely one of the most popular vampire romance books.  You’ll get a mix of vampire and werewolf in this paranormal romance. Swoon!

Plus, any romance book with a hot Scotsman has to be worth a read! If you love fated mates, you’ll want to add this vampire romance novel on your TBR list.

My Midnight Moonlight Valentine is one of the best vampire romance books worth reading. Check out the entire book list of vampire romance novels worth reading from She Reads Romance Books.

My Midnight Moonlight Valentine
by J.J. McAvoy

Druella Monroe is a vampire, but she hasn’t been one for long.

Ever since her rebirth a year ago, she’s done her best to live a quiet, peaceful life as an art conservator and restorationist at The National Gallery of Art.

All she wants is to blend in with the humans.

But everything changes one night while hunting in Great Falls Park, where Druella comes across a naked vampire with no memory of how he got there, or the last century for that matter.

All he seems to be sure of is that she is his soulmate, and he won’t leave without her.

I love that J.J. McAvoy always writes strong female characters and Druella is no different.

If you like vampire romance books with a lot of suspense, this should be on your TBR list.

Sacrifice is one of the best vampire romance books worth reading. Check out the entire book list of vampire romance novels worth reading from She Reads Romance Books.

Sacrifice
by Katee Robert

All my life, I’ve wanted nothing more than to escape my father’s compound.

Half human, half vampire, I have none of the perks and all of the weaknesses.

Now I’m being sent to Malachi Zion, the last vampire in his family. My role is to play resident blood bank and, should Malachi knock me up, my father gets access to a whole new bloodline to control.

But the longer I spend with Malachi, the more I realize that he’s not the monster I first thought, which makes it harder to resist the heat that flares between us.

And then his two friends show up and complicate things exponentially.

There’s nothing holding these vampires to me, but in gaining the one thing I want more than anything—my freedom—I might just lose everything.

I’m not ashamed to say that I read Katee Robert’s books when I’m in the mood for something truly hot and irresistible!

While this is a shorter read, about novella size, it’s definitely one of the steamier vampire romance books that is also reverse harem!

Soul to Keep is one of the best vampire romance books worth reading. Check out the entire book list of vampire romance novels worth reading from She Reads Romance Books.

Soul to Keep
by Rebekah Weatherspoon

College junior Jill Babineux knows where her priorities lie.

Between a full course load, her blood pledge to feed a certain vampire, and all the community service hours she’s got to log with her sisters in Alpha Beta Omega Sorority, the last thing on her mind is finding love, especially with an immortal.

Which works out just fine for Miyoko “Tokyo” Hayashi who’s been so busy enjoying her wild days and even kinkier nights, she’s never had a reason to speak to the tiny know-it-all.

But after a random run-in and a few carefully plotted encounters, Miyoko learns that there’s more to the sorority’s least favorite member.

Miyoko never thought she’d actually start to like the girl, let alone love her, but when true evil comes for Jill, Miyoko finds herself willing to do anything to protect her.

I’m all about the diversity in this new adult, vampire romance book. We’ve got lesbian and bi vampires in a sorority who get down and dirty.

If you like things a bit spicy and kinky, give this vampire romance novel a try.

Secret Life of a Vampire
by Kerrelyn Sparks

A typical bachelor party is all about beers and beautiful women. A vampire bachelor party is no different — except the men are drinking Blissky (whiskey-flavored synthetic blood).

And no one can throw a party quite like Jack, the illegitimate son of the legendary Casanova.

But when the party gets out of hand and the cops show up, Jack has some explaining to do if only he wasn’t struck speechless by the beauty of Officer Lara Boucher.

Lara is sure there’s something more than a bachelor party going on.

Her investigation uncovers more than she wants to know, especially about this modern-day Casanova.

But if she’s ever to make detective, she’ll need to expose all his secrets if only her heart wasn’t on the line.

This vampire romance book sounds like so much fun. I’m all for one rowdy and raucous bachelor party.

Plus, any romance that touts a modern-day Casanova has to be pretty hot!

Insatiable is one of the best vampire romance books worth reading. Check out the entire book list of vampire romance novels worth reading from She Reads Romance Books.

Insatiable
by Meg Cabot

Meena Harper doesn’t believe in vampires but her bosses are making her write about them anyway.

But then she makes the mistake of falling in love with Lucien Antonescu, a modern-day prince with a bit of a dark side.

It’s a dark side a lot of people, like an ancient society of vampire-hunters, would prefer no longer existed.

The problem is, Meena’s always been able to see everyone else’s future with her precognition abilities, but she’s never been able look into her own.

And while Lucien seems like everything Meena has ever dreamed of in a boyfriend, he might turn out to be more like a nightmare.

I had to include this one on the list because I love how Cabot uses this vampire romance book to kind of make fun of the vampire craze that this book is now also a part of!

If you want a lighter, fun vampire romance novel check this one out.

Blue Bloods
by Melissa De La Cruz

When the Mayflower set sail in 1620, not all of the Pilgrims were pure of heart or escaping religious persecution. Indeed, they were not even human. They were vampires.

The vampires assimilated quickly into the New World. Rising to levels of enormous power, wealth, and influence, they were the celebrated blue bloods of American society.

The Blue Bloods vowed that their immortal status would remain a closely guarded secret. But now, in New York City, the secret is seeping out.

Schuyler Van Alen is a loner and sophomore at a prestigious private school.

Suddenly, when she turns fifteen, there is a visible mosaic of blue veins on her arm. She starts to crave raw food and she is having flashbacks to ancient times.

Schuyler doesn’t know what to think, but she wants to find out the secrets the Blue Bloods are keeping. But is she herself in danger?

This young adult vampire romance book weaves a bit of historical narrative into its storyline and mystery.

I love the backstory for the Blue Blood society and can’t wait to hear how it operates in the modern world.

Absolon “Solon” Stavig is a centuries-old vampire who’s caught between wanting to destroy Lenore and wanting to save her.

You see Lenore, too, is a vampire. She just doesn’t know it yet.

Once she turns twenty-one, she’ll fully turn into a vampire, and Solon hopes he’ll be there to guide her.

But this turning can’t be kept a secret. Soon both slayers and vampires are hunting Lenore, with only Solon and his unpredictable motley crew of vampires to save her.

I’m a sucker for vampire romance books that have a more contemporary feel and that’s what Halle gives in this dark paranormal romance.

I have a feeling Solon is ready to guide Lenore in more areas than one and not just about being a vampire.
