Heartless Hunter

A Witch Who Falls for a Witch Hunter

On the night Rune’s life changed forever, blood ran in the streets. Now, in the aftermath of a devastating revolution, witches have been diminished from powerful rulers to outcasts ruthlessly hunted due to their waning magic, and Rune must hide what she is.

Spending her days pretending to be nothing more than a vapid young socialite, Rune spends her nights as the Crimson Moth, a witch vigilante who rescues her kind from being purged. When a rescue goes wrong, she decides to throw the witch hunters off her scent and gain the intel she desperately needs by courting the handsome Gideon Sharpe – a notorious and unforgiving witch hunter loyal to the revolution – who she can’t help but find herself falling for.

Gideon loathes the decadence and superficiality Rune represents, but when he learns the Crimson Moth has been using Rune’s merchant ships to smuggle renegade witches out of the republic, he inserts himself into her social circles by pretending to court her right back.

He soon realizes that beneath her beauty and shallow façade, is someone fiercely intelligent and tender who feels like his perfect match. Except, what if she’s the very villain he’s been hunting?

This witch romance book is the perfect combination of enemies to lovers, love triangle, and romantic suspense all wrapped up into an amazing package that I couldn’t put down.

I loved Rune for her strength and her dedication to her purpose in protecting her fellow witches, all in the name of love for the grandmother that she lost. The developing story about Gideon‘s past, the witches downfall, and the current regime problems were all so captivating and had you wondering if these two could actually make things work? Or who would hurt who and how?

The Ex Hex
by Erin Sterling

Second Chance Witch Romance Book

Nine years ago, Vivienne Jones nursed her broken heart like any young witch would: using her magic to place a curse on the horrible boyfriend.

The curse was harmless or so she thought until Rhys Penhallow returns to Graves Glen, Georgia and things turn disastrously wrong. With one calamity after another striking Rhys, Vivi realizes her silly little Ex Hex may not have been so harmless after all.

Now Vivi and Rhys have to ignore their off-the-charts chemistry to work together to save the town and find a way to break the break-up curse before it’s too late.

This was a finalist for the 2021 Goodreads Choice Awards for Best Romance and sounds so adorably fun! I can’t think of a more fun idea for a witch romance than one where a hex goes WAY wrong but can bring two people back together.

I’m actually most curious to find out the reason for their breakup that set this whole thing in motion!

Definitely, one of the best witch romance books to check out if you’re into contemporary romance.

Fake Relationship Witch Romance Book

Magic-less witch Violet Maxwell wants nothing to do with alpha wolf shifter Lincoln Thorne—the man who broke her fragile, teenage heart.

But when the two of them are forced by arcane Supernatural Laws to find mates, Violet and Lincoln agree to fake-date their way to a fake-mating in order to conjure themselves some time.

The joke’s on them. When old feelings make a reappearance—along with Violet’s magic—they both realize there’s nothing fake about their feelings.

But there are old secrets and looming threats that could snatch away their happily ever after, again. One thing’s for sure: magic doesn’t make dating and love any easier.

I love this take on witch romance where the witch is a supernatural living in New York City. Throw in a hot wolf-shifter AND a fake relationship and consider me spellbound with this witch romance already!

If you’re looking for a fun, rom-com that kicks off a paranormal series, check this one out!

The League of Gentlewomen Witches is a March 2022 romance book release.

The League of Gentlewomen Witches
by India Hoton

Historical Witch Romance Book

Miss Charlotte Pettifer belongs to a secret league of women skilled in the subtle arts. That is to say—although it must never be said—witchcraft.

The League of Gentlewomen Witches strives to improve the world in small ways. Using magic, they tidy, correct, and manipulate according to their notions of what is proper, entirely unlike those reprobates in the Wisteria Society.

When the long-lost amulet of Black Beryl is discovered, it is up to Charlotte, as the future leader of the League, to make sure the powerful talisman does not fall into the wrong hands.

Therefore, it is most unfortunate when she crosses paths with Alex O’Riley, a pirate who is no Mr. Darcy.

With all the world scrambling after the amulet, Alex and Charlotte join forces to steal it together. If only they could keep their pickpocketing hands to themselves! If Alex’s not careful, he might just steal something else—such as Charlotte’s heart.

I’m all about Charlotte and her witchy ways in this witch romance but I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I was equally excited to check out Alex who’s a PIRATE!

With witches, pickpockets, pirates and a historical flare to this witch romance book, I’m all about it.

This is actually the second book in the Dangerous Damsels series but it can be read as a standalone read.

Enemies to Lovers Witch Romance Book

When Reggie Johnson answers a job ad in the paper, she’s astonished to find that she’s not applying to work at her favorite card game, Spellcraft: The Magicking. Instead, she’s applying to be an actual familiar for an actual witch. As in, real magic.

For this new job, she’s apprenticing to a powerful, yet a bit eccentric witch. The biggest problem, however, is warlock Ben Magnus, her employer’s nephew and the most arrogant, insufferable, maddening man to ever cast a spell.

He may be handsome but Reggie absolutely hates him. But when someone with a vendetta targets the household, she finds herself working with Ben to break a dangerous curse. Apparently, when they’re not fighting like cats and dogs, things get downright…bewitching.

I do love a great, enemies to lovers story. Throw in a witch and a warlock and I have a feeling this is going to be one fun read!

I love how Reggie is just an apprentice at witchcraft so I assume (and hope!) that there may be some learning goofs that add to the laughs as well as the steam in this witch romance.

Witch Romance Book with a Werewolf

Unable to shift for three months, Mateo Cruz has had his wolf in his head, taunting him night and day with vividly dangerous and carnal thoughts. Convinced he’s cursed, he needs the help of a powerful witch before he literally goes insane.

Evie Savoie has always obeyed the house rules of her coven–no werewolves. They’re known for being moody and volatile.

So, when a distempered, dangerous werewolf strolls in the bar and almost strangles one of her late-night customers, she’s ready to bounce him through the door. But the desperation in his eyes when he begs her to help him softens her heart and convinces her to bend the rules.

What Evie doesn’t know is that Mateo’s wolf has a mind of his own. And now that she’s in his sights, he wants only one thing. Her.

When I found my love of fantasy romance it also included a thing for werewolf romance books so this witch romance definitely caught my eye!

I kind of love how Mateo is at the mercy of Evie’s help but his wolf has other plans. I cannot wait to see what they are and how this witch reacts!

by Lana Harper

Sapphic Witch Romance Book

Emmy Harlow is a witch but not a very powerful one—in part because she hasn’t been home to the magical town of Thistle Grove in years.

Her self-imposed exile has a lot to do with a complicated family history, and only the very tiniest bit to do with Gareth Blackmoore, heir to the most powerful magical family in town and casual breaker of hearts and destroyer of dreams.

But when a spellcasting tournament that her family serves as arbiters for approaches, it turns out the pull of tradition is strong enough to bring Emmy back. She’s determined to do her familial duty and spend some quality time with her best friend, Linden Thorn.

On her first night home, Emmy runs into Talia Avramov who is adept in the darker magical arts and fresh off a bad breakup with Gareth Blackmoore.

Talia had let herself be charmed, only to discover that Gareth was also seeing Linden—unbeknownst to either of them. And now she and Linden want revenge. Only one question stands: Is Emmy in?

But most concerning of all: Why can’t she stop thinking about the terrifyingly competent, devastatingly gorgeous, wickedly charming Talia Avramov?

Yes! Bring on the diversity with this witch romance book. I love how Harper gives us a sapphic, FF love story while enacting revenge on a former lover.

While I’m excited about the revenge aspect that must involve some supernatural goodness, I’m curious how this relationship is going to evolve. Count me in with this witch romance!

Hallow’s End
by Kristen Proby

Paranormal Witch Romance Book

Returning to her beloved home of Salem after a trip away, Lucy Finch can’t shake the feeling of anxiety that suddenly plagues her. Nor can she shrug off her third eye’s urging that she has a mission she must undertake—a secret she must uncover.

As a green witch, Lucy has always felt strongest and the most at home in the forest, surrounded by nature. But when a disturbing dream wakes her and sends her fleeing into the woods, she isn’t prepared for what she finds.

She expected her element. Perhaps a message from spirit. She didn’t expect to cross paths with a hot-as-sin man, straight out of a movie scene.

Jonas Morley isn’t like the other residents of Hallows End. He knows the town’s secrets, as well as Salem’s, and it has been his honor and duty to protect them for as long as he can remember.

But the gorgeous witch who graces the town’s hidden border shakes him and makes him second-guess his directive. But can he save his home and those under his care and still make her his? Or will their union mean danger and destruction for not only them but also those who live within the town’s borders?

I am so in for this new paranormal series (The Curse of the Blood Moon) from Proby which kicks off with this witch romance.

I’m hoping this witch romance has a bit of suspense along with a growing tension between Lucy and Jonas that will burn up the pages. And of course what better setting for a witch romance than Salem?

Romantic Comedy Witch Romance

Nearly a century ago, Gwen Engel’s great-great-grandfather cast a spell with catastrophic side effects.

As a result, the Grand Council of Witches forbade his descendants from practicing witchcraft. The Council even planted anonymous snitches called Watchers in the community to report any errant spellcasting.

Yet magic may still be alive and not so well in Zenobia. Gwen and her cousins, Trudy and Milo, receive a letter from Gwen’s adopted sister, Tannith, informing them that she’s bewitched one of their partners and will run away with him at the end of the week.

While Gwen frets about whether to trust her scientist boyfriend, she’s worried that local grad student Jeremy is secretly a Watcher doing his own research.

Cousin Trudy is so stressed that she accidentally enchants her cupcakes, creating havoc among her bakery customers—and in her marriage.

Perhaps it’s time the family took back control and figured out how to harness their powers. How else can Gwen decide whether her growing feelings for Jeremy are real—or the result of too many of Trudy’s cupcakes?

This witch romance sounds like it is a romantic comedy at its finest. But really, it probably had me at enchanted cupcakes!

Perhaps we have an interesting love triangle brewing as well in this witch romance. I can’t wait to check it out.

Contemporary Witch Romance

Danica Waterhouse is a fully modern witch and co-owner of the Fix-It Witches, a magical tech repair shop. After a messy breakup that included way too much family “feedback,” Danica made a pact with her cousin: they’ll keep their hearts protected and have fun, without involving any of the overly opinionated Waterhouse matriarchs.

Three blocks down from the Fix-It Witches, Titus Winnaker, owner of Sugar Daddy’s bakery, has family trouble of his own. After a tragic loss, all he’s got left is his sister, the bakery, and a lifetime of terrible luck in love. He can’t seem to shake the romantic curse that’s left him past thirty and still a virgin.

When he meets Danica Waterhouse, the sparks are instant, their attraction irresistible. For him, she’s the one. To her, he’s thrown in the middle of a family scuffle. Can a modern witch find love with an old-fashioned mundane who refuses to settle for anything less than forever?

This witch romance has me intrigued by the main characters – a bisexual virgin baker with a curse and a witch reluctant to love.

I love that it’s another modern, contemporary witch romance that seems less fantastical in a sense but maybe still high on magic. I’m anxious to find out and continue with the entire Fix-It Witches series.

Enemies to Lovers, Fantasy, Witch Romance Book

Every year, each village is required to send a young woman to the Empire’s capital–her fate to be burned alive for the entertainment of the masses.

For the last five years, one small village’s tithe has been the same woman. Gilene’s sacrifice protects all the other young women of her village, and her secret to staying alive lies with the magic only she possesses. But this year is different.

Azarion, the Empire’s most famous gladiator, has somehow seen through her illusion–and is set on blackmailing Gilene into using her abilities to help him escape his life of slavery. Unknown to Gilene, he also wants to reclaim the birthright of his clan.

To protect her family and village, she will abandon everything to return to the Empire–and burn once more.

OMG, I fell in love with Grace Draven’s writing with Radiance so of course, I’m going to snatch up this witch romance.

I love that it’s a bit of an enemies to lovers story given the blackmail. Draven creates such spellbinding romance books and the most intriguing characters and I have no doubt that she does so in this witch romance.

Forbidden Witch Romance

Willa Farrington’s magic is broken. Shunned by her coven for failing to pass the Summer Solstice Rite, Willa escapes to the one place no witch belongs – Charleston, a city that belongs to vampires. Determined to embrace her new life, Willa opens Cauldron Boil Books, and unexpectedly finds some friends among the vampires.

Until one terrible night Willa ends up on the wrong side of a pair of fangs. Thankfully, her captor’s plan is ruined when Killian Constantine, the drop-dead gorgeous Warden of Charleston, shows up to save her.

But just when Willa thinks she’s safe, Killian, rumored to be the most feared vampire in the city, furiously demands to know why she – a witch – telepathically called him for help.

Intent on finding answers, the two embark on a journey to unravel the mystery behind Willa’s attack and their unusual connection. As they get closer to the truth, the fiery passion between them ignites.

But their forbidden romance isn’t making them many friends, and just as Willa starts to think that her entire existence is a lie, she will need to believe in her malfunctioning magic and cross her fingers that she and Killian make it out together.

There is so much going for this witch romance! I mean you get a brooding vampire for one, a down on her luck witch and a mystery that needs unraveling.

I’m always up for a fun and forbidden romance and this may just be the perfect blend.

Contemporary Witch Romance

As one of the few witches in Britain, Mika Moon knows she has to hide her magic, keep her head down, and stay away from other witches so their powers don’t mingle and draw attention.

And as an orphan who was raised by strangers, she’s used to being alone and she follows the rules with one exception: an online account, where she posts videos “pretending” to be a witch.

She thinks no one will take it seriously. But an unexpected message arrives, begging her to travel to the remote and mysterious Nowhere House to teach three young witches how to control their magic.

Once there Mika is immediately tangled up in the lives and secrets of not only her three charges, but also with Jamie. He’s the handsome and prickly librarian of Nowhere House would do anything to protect the children, and as far as he’s concerned, a stranger like Mika is a threat.

As Mika begins to find her place at Nowhere House, a threat comes knocking at their door. Mika will need to decide whether to risk everything to protect a found family she didn’t know she was looking for.

I’m already rooting for Mike to find her happily-ever-after with this witch romance book! I’ll be rooting for the orphaned witch the entire time she spares with Jamie.

by Nora Roberts

Contemporary Witch Romance

When Iona Sheehan arrives in County Mayo in Ireland, she has nothing but her Nan’s directions, an unfailingly optimistic attitude, and an innate talent with horses. But she soon she finds her cousins, Branna and Connor O’Dwyer who welcome her into their home and their lives.

When Iona lands a job at the local stables, she meets the owner, Boyle McGrath. Cowboy, pirate, wild tribal horsemen, he’s three of her biggest fantasy weaknesses all in one big, bold package.

Iona realizes that here she can make a home for herself but nothing is as it seems. An ancient evil has wound its way around Iona’s family tree and must be defeated. Family and friends will fight with each other and for each other to keep the promise of hope—and love—alive.

I feel like I have read all of Nora Roberts’ catalog of books EXCEPT her witch romance book series. Well, that will be corrected right now!

I’m always a sucker for romance books set in Ireland so it’s no hardship to start with this first witch romance in The Cousins O’Dwyer Trilogy.

Paranormal Witch Romance Book

At Oxford’s Bodleian Library, young scholar Diana Bishop unwittingly calls up a bewitched alchemical manuscript in the course of her research. She’s a descendent of an old and distinguished line of witches, yet Diana wants nothing to do with sorcery.

Her discovery, however, sets a fantastical underworld stirring, and a horde of daemons, witches, and vampires soon descends upon the library, including vampire geneticist Matthew Clairmont, looking to Diana as the only creature who can break a spell.

I LOVE when romance books are made into TV shows because not only do I get to see my favorite characters come to life on the small screen, but a TV series gives ample room for the story to be told and unfold.

I’ve yet to watch this TV series so I’m thinking I’m going to read the witch romance books first and then dive right in!

A Fantasy, Witch Romance Book

For months Molly Sullivan endures the inexplicable: electrical surges, car breakdowns, visions. She even wonders if she might be the cause and wonders if she might be crazy.

Then she discovers her husband has cheated on her. Again. Now Molly realizes she is a newly awakening witch and a woman pushed over the edge.

Josiah Mason is a Powerful witch and the leader of a secret coven with a shared goal: to destroy an ancient enemy who has ruined many lives. Josiah lost years to this man, and his sole focus is revenge. He’s prepared for every contingency—except encountering a beautiful new witch who understands nothing of the immense Power building within her or the attraction she wields over him.

When divorcing her husband, Molly uncovers a dangerous secret he’s willing to do anything to protect. She turns to Josiah for help, and they discover a connection between Molly’s husband and Josiah’s enemy.

As they work together, a spark ignites between them that threatens to become an inferno. But Molly is done compromising herself for any man, and Josiah’s mission is his top priority. And the enemy is cunning, cruel, and drawing ever closer.

Thea Harrison is another fantasy romance book writer that I adore so of course her witch romance book had to make the list!

I like that the heroine in this romance is an awakening witch and how she’s pulled into a web of deception that is both dangerous to her life and her heart.

Mythology Retelling Witch Romance Book

Angrboda’s story begins where most witches’ tales end: with a burning. A punishment from Odin for refusing to provide him with knowledge of the future, the fire leaves Angrboda injured and powerless, and she flees into the farthest reaches of a remote forest.

There she is found by a man who reveals himself to be Loki, and her initial distrust of him transforms into a deep and abiding love.

Their union produces three unusual children, each with a secret destiny, who Angrboda is keen to raise at the edge of the world, safely hidden from Odin’s all-seeing eye. But as Angrboda slowly recovers her prophetic powers, she learns that her blissful life—and possibly all of existence—is in danger.

With help from the fierce huntress Skadi, with whom she shares a growing bond, Angrboda must choose whether she’ll accept the fate that she’s foreseen for her beloved family…or rise to remake their future.

So, I love mythology. And I love, love, love mythology retellings in romance novels. Throw in a love story with Loki and I am all over this.

While I think it will be a captivating witch romance, I know it will be so much more. If you love Norse mythology and witch romance, then this is the book for you.

If they defeat the evil that surrounds them, can Mari deny Bowen when he demands her body and soul—or will she risk everything for her fierce protector?

Anastasia Donovan has a special gift of healing, just like her cousins, though she keeps it hidden, especially from her new neighbor, Boone Sawyer.

Boone may be a single dad but that doesn’t keep him from looking at his new neighbor who looks like the fairy princesses he writes about.

But when an accident puts a life at stake, Anastasia must use her powers even though it could cost her Boone’s growing love, or even her life.

This is one of Roberts’ earlier contemporary witch romance books that focuses on a family of cousins who are witches.

I loved both of these characters. Boone is a terrific single dad and writer and Anastasia just has the biggest heart though she fears her powers will keep someone like Boone from ever believing her or loving her.
