Every year I scour the internet to determine which romance books to movies are coming to the big and small screen. This list includes the romance books being adapted for movies or TV series in 2024 with a release date as well as those I anticipate releasing, plus it includes those that are in the works and coming soon.
Things are always changing in Hollywood so I will continually update this list throughout the year as more book-to-movie adaptations are announced and dates solidify. This year it remains to be seen how many romance book adaptations will debut since the writers’ strike put a lot of films and series on hold, but here’s what we have to look forward to so far!

Romance Books to Movies Coming in 2024
Release Date: June 21, 2024 in Theaters
Summary: Lily, who after growing up in Maine, going to college and starting her own business, finds herself thinking that her life is too good to be true. Now living in Boston, Lily meets gorgeous neurosurgeon, Ryle Kincaid. Ryle develops a soft spot for Lily but has a complete aversion to relationships.
But while Lily’s relationship with Ryle unfolds, she can’t stop thinking about Atlas Corrigan, her first love. Atlas was her kindred spirit, her protector, and when he suddenly reappears in her life, everything Lily has built with Ryle is questioned.
Justin Baldoni, actor and filmmaker, is leading this romance book to movie adaptation and starring as Ryle in the film alongside Blake Lively as Lily and Brandon Sklenar as Atlas. This is probably the most anticipated romance book to movie of 2024, especially for all the Colleen Hoover fans!

Release Date: January 24 & 25, 2024 in Theaters
Summary: This novel and movie follows Abby and Travis, who after a crazy night in Las Vegas, discover they are married. They head to Mexico for a honeymoon with friends and family.
This movie sequel follows the movie Beautiful Disaster which released in 2023. That movie was rated R so it’s safe to assume this sequel will have the same rating.
Release Date: May 2, 2024 on Amazon Prime Video
Summary: Solène Marchand, the thirty-nine-year-old owner of an art gallery in Los Angeles, is reluctant to take her daughter, Isabelle, to meet her favorite boy band. But since her divorce, she’s more eager than ever to be close to Isabelle.
The last thing Solène expects is to make a connection with one of the members of the world-famous boy band August Moon. But Hayes Campbell is clever, winning, confident, and posh, and the attraction is immediate. That he is all of twenty years old further complicates things.
When Solène and Hayes’ romance becomes a viral sensation, and both she and her daughter become the target of rabid fans and an insatiable media, Solène must face how her romantic life has impacted the lives of those she cares about most.
Cast for this book to movie includes Anne Hathaway as Sophie, Nickolas Galitzine as Hayes, and Reid Scott as Dan. Robinne Lee is one of the writers of the film and Michael Showalter is directing.

This movie is part three in a franchise which began with Through My Window which released in 2022, followed by Through My Window: Across the Sea in 2023. These movies are in Spanish but available with subtitles.

Get your tissue boxes ready for this romance book to movie adaptation to hit theaters in 2024. Starring Sarah Fisher, Lynn Collins and Jake Allyn. The screenplay is written by the author Karen Kingsbury with Tyler Russell who directs the film.

Summary: Caroline Reynolds has a fantastic new apartment in San Francisco, a flourishing design career, an office overlooking the bay, a fantastic zucchini bread recipe, and no O.
She has Clive (the best cat ever), great friends, a great rack, and no O. Adding insult to O-less, she also has a neighbor with the loudest late-night wallbanging she’s ever heard. Every moan, spank, and—was that a meow?—punctuates the fact that not only is she losing sleep, she still has—yep, you guessed it—no O.
Enter Simon Parker. When the wallbanging threatens to literally bounce her out of bed, Caroline, confronts her heard-but-never-seen neighbor. Passionflix is still very much in the romance book-to-movie adaptation business and is continuing with Wallbanger for 2024. Casting has already begun with filming set to start in November 2023.

Summary: For Lila Reyes, a summer in England was never part of the plan. The plan was 1) take over her abuela’s role as head baker at their panadería, 2) move in with her best friend after graduation, and 3) live happily ever after with her boyfriend. But then the Trifecta happened, and everything—including Lila herself—fell apart.
Worried about Lila’s mental health, her parents make a new plan for her: spend three months with family friends in Winchester, England, to relax and reset. But what would be a dream trip for some feels more like a nightmare to Lila until she meets Orion Maxwell.
A teashop clerk with troubles of his own, Orion is determined to help Lila out of her funk, and appoints himself as her personal tour guide. Soon a new future is beginning to form in Lila’s mind—one that would mean leaving everything she ever planned behind.
Production on this romance book to movie began in 2022 in Yorkshire, England so hopefully we will see this film in 2024. Cast includes Kit Connor (of Heartstopper, the romance graphic novel to TV series) as Orion Maxwell and Maia Reficco (of Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin fame) as Lila Reyes.
Romance Books to TV Series in 2024
Release Date: Part 1 Releasing May 16, 2024; Part 2 Releasing June 13, 2024 on Netflix

Fans of the Bridgerton series have been waiting a LONG time for season 3’s debut which will now release in two parts beginning in May 2024 and concluding in June 2024. This season skips a book in the Bridgerton series moving onto book four, Romancing Mr. Bridgerton. Bridgerton has already been renewed for season 4, so stay tuned for news on its production!

Release Date: Anticipated 2024 on Starz

Season 7 of Outlander was extended for a total of sixteen episodes after season 6 was shortened. The first eight episodes of Outlander season 7 released in the summer of 2023 so you can watch them now while you wait for season 7 part two to premiere this year.
Caitriona Balfe (Claire Randall Fraser), Sam Heughan (Jamie Fraser), Sophie Skelton (Brianna Randall), and Richard Rankin (Roger Wakefield) are all set to reprise their roles.
Joining them are Izzy Meikle-Small (Snow White and the Huntsman) and Joey Phillips (Billy Elliot) as Rachel Hunter and Dr. Denzell Hunter.

Production on season 3 has begun so we can hopefully anticipate the release sometime in 2024. Author, Alice Oseman, said the actual cliffhanger at the end of season 2 is not something that is in the comics,” so we will see what happens with the start of season 3!
The LGBTQ+ positive TV show was renewed by Netflix for two more seasons in May 2022, so anticipate a season 4 coming as well.

The popular Virgin River TV series released season 5 in September 2023 but it was already announced in May 2023 that Virgin River was renewed for season 6. Writers were back to work in the writer’s room as of October 2023 so fingers crossed we will see season 6 in 2024!

This new family Western series features Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly and is planned for 10 episodes for its first season that is set to follow the first book in the series. Fans of Virgin River and Yellowstone will want to check this one out!

Season 1 of Sullivan’s Crossing, which is the adaptation of the Sullivan’s Crossing series by Robyn Carr, debuted on CTV in 2023 and started its weekly airing in the United States on October 4, 2023 on the CW. The series has been renewed for season 2 on CTV Canada but a filming start date is yet to come.
Cast for this romance book series to TV series includes Morgan Kohan as Maggie, Chad Michael Murray as Cal, and Scott Patterson as Sully.

Season 4 of Sweet Magnolias was renewed in late 2023 so get ready for it to hopefully drop in late 2024. Executive producer Sheryl J. Anderson returns as showrunner, with EP Dan Paulson and co-EPs Norman Buckley and Matt Drake also back for the new season.
