Rating: ★★★★½
I first fell for Helena Hunting’s books when I discovered the Pucked series, so I was thrilled she was writing another hockey series! OMG YES, thank you! And from this read – this series is looking just as good.
A Favor for a Favor was an excellent read that I couldn’t put down. If I could have skipped work I would have to finish this in one sitting.
This book is the second in the All In series but can be completely read as a standalone (I have yet to read book one but it is now on my want to read list!).
A Book That Has the Perfect Package
This book had so many things going for it but it’s always a good sign when you are hooked right from the very beginning – from the plot, the quality of writing and the amazing characters.
To say that Stevie is having a bad day when we first meet her is an understatement.
To top off her bad day, she gets some major attitude from Bishop, a barely clothed, HOT hockey player who’s a complete jerk at their first meeting and who also happens to be her new neighbor.
What ensues is a case of mistaken identities and wrong assumptions leading to a really sweet and funny enemies to lovers story.
The frustration and tension between Stevie and Bishop in their initial antagonism is spot on.
Once the favors start trading however, I love how they both were completely upfront and direct in admitting their attraction. I mean when you’re helping someone rehab a groin injury, it’s going to get interesting!
Even though Bishop was a complete dick to her when they first met, he’s actually quite a sweetheart – or at least he shows that side of himself to Stevie.
I loved how this guy was really aware of Stevie’s apprehensions and moved at a pace that took into account where she was in her own head space (not just what his dick wanted).
Stevie was no pushover when it came to dealing with Bishop’s orneriness.
She could dish it right back and could hold her own which made them perfect for one another. But I adored how they really grew to become friends and confide in one another.
“What in the actual fuck? How the hell do you manage to attract women with your horrible personality? I really don’t get it. Unless they’re all brain-dead idiots and they duct-tape your mouth shut while they’re riding you.”
She tilts her head, as if considering that, and nods once. “That has to be it. I can see how that might be doable.” “What the hell are you talking about?” And did she just fantasize about riding me with my mouth duct-taped shut? Why is that hot?
In A Favor for a Favor you get so much – an enemies to lovers story with a bit of mistaken identity craziness, a tantalizing office romance and overall sweet, slow burn story of two people falling in love because they just fit.
Plus, you get a bit of hockey which is always awesome.
This is such a fantastic book- a big score for Hunting and I highly recommend it.
Thank you to Helena Hunting for the advanced reader copy. All opinions are my own.

I like finding authors that have more than one book to read even if they aren’t a series. – Margy
