I probably say this about every Cosway book, but she writes some amazing characters and it bears repeating every time I read one! Usually they have some unique talent, back story or career, and yet what I loved about the characters in Something in the Air is how simple, sweet and genuine they are.
Michaela is a 22-year-old PA for the parkour runners in the reality TV show, Running on Air, who has been harboring a secret crush on James who happens to not only be 9 years older, but also her boss and also ENGAGED to someone else.
But this is not some conniving young woman who’s out to steal herself a man. Michaela’s unlike so many other 20 somethings that I seem to read about in romance books of late.
She’s not sassy, or wild or clueless or laugh out loud hilarious but Michaela is sweet, and very unassuming. She’s more comfortable in the shadows than in the spotlight and yet really comes to life when she’s around her best friends and James.
James was a unique hero for me in that he was equally as sweet and endearing. I ached for him given the type of relationship he was in and yet how he was too blind to see it. Cosway used him as a vehicle to bring to light a not uncommon relationship problem but one that’s not often talked about let alone written about in many romance books I’ve read.
This was a story that proves that a bit of kindness, forced proximity and time can really change things for someone.
There really isn’t any parkour in this story given the series, but features these lovely two characters finally finding happiness with their soulmate. I also loved that there wasn’t any unnecessary drama to this one. I highly recommend you check out this book.
And can I say that I just love the book covers to this series? So beautiful.
Thank you to L.H. Cosway for the advanced reader copy. All opinions are my own.
