Plus, thereโs no shortage of the best romance series that would make the best romance TV shows.

The Best Romance Series that Would Make the Best Romance TV Shows
The Ravenels Series
by Lisa Kleypas
For Fans of Bridgerton and Historical Romance
The Ravenels series by Lisa Kleypas would make one of the best romance TV shows given the highly successful book to tv adaptation of Quinnโs Bridgerton series.
This series follows another family and set of siblings who all find their happily ever afters in the Regency era.
The time period alone would make this such a fantastic romance tv series to watch, but itโs the uniqueness of the characters, their predicaments and the drama that follows them that would make the Ravenels the perfect romantic tv series.
This is one of the best historical romance series worth reading and I’d love to see it on the small screen.
The Ravenhood
by Kate Stewart
For Fans of Sons of Anarchy and Ozark
Another romance series that would be an instant hit with book fans if made into a romantic TV series is The Ravenhood series by Kate Stewart.
Stewart has caused many a reader to lose sleep and bawl their eyes out while reading this three-book series.
Readers in her Facebook Recovery Room repeatedly share how they are distraught for days and even months (in the absolute best way) obsessing about Sean, Dom and Tobias and their relationship with Cecelia long after finishing this series.
To see her incredible characters and amazing storyline come to life would be nothing less than AMAZING!
Plus, weโd get a hot Frenchman to adore on screen while heโs trying to cut down THE MAN and its hold on society.
The Kingmaker Chronicles
by Amanda Bouchet
For Fans of The Witcher or Game of Thrones who love Fantasy Romance
Fantasy romance book fans would flock to watch the Kingmaker Chronicles TV series which features a fearless heroine fighting off a demented mother with the help of one hot hero and his band of men.
Not only would this be an amazing TV series with a push-pull, slow burn romance, but it could really wow when it comes to cinematography.
The setting alone would be awe-inspiring as would the creatures, battles and Greek gods featured in these stories.
We seriously need more female heroines on TV who can wield a sword and who are a general bada$$!
The Royals
by Erin Watt
For Fans of One Tree Hill, Cruel Intentions and Young Adult Romance
I think The Royals series would make one of the best romance TV shows given the popularity of so many TV series featuring young adults in high school such as Pretty Little Liars, Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill and Ravenswood.
With an enemies to lovers romance to kick things off, this series has it all including prep school angst, high school bullying, family drama, lies and deception.
Paper Princess is one of my most favorite romance books featuring teens but the entire The Royals series is worth reading and I hope watching one day. Check out my complete guide to The Royals series.
Winston Brothers
by Penny Reid
For Fans of Sons of Anarchy and Small Town Romance
I would absolutely love to see a Green Valley TV series featuring the intriguing, amusing, endearing and hot Winston brothers.
Not only would Reidโs Winston Brothers books make one of the best romance TV shows but elements and characters from various Smartypants Romance books could also make an appearance.
These books not only have the romance appeal but also have a fascinating look at a motorcycle club in a small town.
The Iron Wraiths would make for some interesting if not shady TV characters, giving an enticing suspense and action angle to this potential romance TV series.
This is one of my most favorite romance book series to binge read so I can only imagine I’d binge watch the TV show as well.
*Exciting news! Tomorrow Studios purchased this series in a multi-book deal in July 2022!
The Simple Wild
by K.A. Tucker
For Fans of Northern Exposure and Virgin River
Fans of Virgin River would go ga-ga over a romance tv show based on The Simple Wild series by K.A. Tucker.
The majestic landscape of Alaska alone, where these novels are based, would make this an epic TV series. Add in some family drama and an opposites attract love story between bush pilot and city girl and you have a recipe for one must watch romantic TV series.
To me, itโs often the side characters that tip a good TV series into a great one.
Tuckerโs books have some of the best side characters that would translate into TV characters Iโd love to see such as the grumpy, reclusive neighbor, the townโs mother hen, the veterinarian best friend and professional dog musher.
Jameson Force Security
by Sawyer Bennett
For Fans of Alias and NCIS
Who says you canโt mix action and suspense with romance? Bennettโs Jameson Force Security series provides the best of all three which is why this series of 10 books and counting would make one of the best romance TV shows.
With an elite team of alpha spies, each with their own fascinating stories, adventures and love interests, the skyโs the limit when it comes to bringing this series to TV.
I for one would love to see Pittsburgh on screen as the backdrop to this series since itโs my hometown.
I wouldnโt be opposed if the Jameson TV series also pulled in some of the adult-rated pass times of team members who visit the Wicked Horse Las Vegas (another HOT romance series by Bennett) to really draw in readers.
Running on Air
by L.H. Cosway
For Fans of Unreal and Reality TV
Coswayโs Running on Air series would make a unique and fresh, romantic TV series because it follows parkour athletes who are making a reality TV series.
Iโd be fascinated to see parkour athletes performing their stunts and epic adventures in every episode.
Producers of this show could really have fun with the locations of the books including South Africa and other international hot spots.
Of course, each member of the team has their drama that would make for great TV, especially the two teammates with relationship history.
Wild Wicked Highlanders
by Suzanne Enoch
For Fans of Outlander and Scottish Heroes
Watching the Outlander TV show is what first drew me to the book series for which I will be entirely grateful.
What could be better than getting another historical drama featuring hot Scotsmen? Not much in my opinion, but maybe three reluctant Scotsman who are forced to find brides in London or risk losing their family land?
The historical piece alone would make this book series a romantic TV series worth watching, but the mystery and suspense surrounding the ladsโ ladies of interest would make a compelling drama!
True North
by Sarina Bowen
For Fans of Virgin River and Yellowstone and Small Town Romance
Thereโs no shortage of TV series that follow a family dynasty which is why I think Bowenโs True North series could launch one of the best romance TV shows.
Iโd love to watch the drama of the Shipley family unfold in the beautiful setting of Vermont. Following this family through the ups and downs while running an apple orchard would make for good drama.
Plus, the show could really dive into compelling real-world issues pertaining to small family farming, organic farming practices and cattle ranching.
If you drew in aspects of Bowenโs True North World, the storylines could be endless. I for one would love to see one or more of the True North LGBTQ storylines weaved into this series as well!
Central Park Pact
by Lauren Layne
For Fans of Sex and the City
Anyone else missing Carrie, Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte even with the latest reboot?
I think we are past due for a Sex in the City look-a-like show and Layneโs Central Park Pact is just the romance book series to make that a reality.
Thereโs nothing like a woman scorned, but how about three women scorned by the same man? I can already envision the pilot episode where these leading ladies meet in Central Park having skipped out on the funeral of a man they were all sleeping with.
Iโd love to follow their lives onscreen to see their friendship blossom while they try and set each other up with the perfect mate. Plus, I think the wardrobe would be fantastic!
VIP
by Kristen Callihan
For Fans of Nashville and Empire and Rock Star Romance
Iโm already loving the music soundtrack that could accompany this romance TV series based on Callihanโs beloved series.
These rock star romance books bring the romance and the drama that isnโt too far from fame and fortune and rock stars in the spotlight.
With several members in this band, the amount of material for TV episodes can be endless. From band break-ups to friends mixing business with pleasure and the struggles with depression, this rock star romance book series would make a must-watch romance TV series.
Riggs Brothers
by Julie Kriss
For Fans of Sons of Anarchy and Small Town Romance
Thereโs no shortage of inspiration for a romantic TV series based on a bunch of hot brothers and I for one see a fascinating series based on Krissโ books.
Take a mechanic, former cop, ex-con and minor league baseball player/ single dad with a crooked father and you wonโt be begging for viewers if this TV series was made.
Not only do you have great male characters to lead this show but the leading ladies are just as captivating as characters.
A little more rugged, a little more dirty and a lot hot โ these books would make one of the best romance TV shows.
American Queen
by Sierra Simone
For Fans of Scandal and Political Romance
I would be so excited to see which actors and actresses would be cast in the leading roles for this trilogy if it became a romance TV series.
Simoneโs writing is amazing and her stories so unique, but I loved this series based on the idea of Camelot with King Arthur, Lancelot and Guinevere.
This romance TV series would weave in political maneuvering, polyamory, suspense, drama and of course love at its finest.
Iโm missing the TV shows of the past with good political intrigue and thought and would welcome this TV development in a heartbeat!
Heartbreaker Bay
by Jill Shalvis
For Fans of Melrose Place
This pick totally ages me as Shalvisโ book series is reminiscent of TV series of the 1990s like Melrose Place with a great ensemble of characters with no shortage of drama and love between them.
With an apartment building and adjacent bar as the focal point to these characters and friends, the Heartbreaker Bay series of books would make a fantastic romance TV series that could go the distance.
The Trouble With Mistletoe has already been made into a romance movie on Passionflix, but I want to see the entire series of books with an epic San Francisco location made into a romance TV series.
The Legal Briefs
by Emma Chase
For Fans of Aly McBeal
I will forever be an Aly McBeal fan but I would totally tune into a TV romance series based on Chaseโs lawyer team.
While Jake and Chelsea will forever be my favorites, Stanton, Sofia and Brent are equally charming with stories to explore. As top defense attorneys, you could also take this TV series in a number of directions with their work cases.
Girls Trip
by Tracey Livesay
For Fans of Girlfriends and Sex and the City
You can never have too many TV shows about strong women and the girl tribe that supports them in my opinion!
I adored Livesayโs series of girl friends who are extremely strong women with powerhouse careers. I also loved their love stories and the men who fall hard for these lovely ladies.
Iโd love for Shonda Rhimes to put her spin on these romantic TV series next!
HOOPS
by Kennedy Ryan
For Fans of Survivorโs Remorse and Sports Romance
Where are all the sports romance TV series at? You wonโt have to twist my arm to watch a TV series about some professional basketball players and Ryanโs HOOOPS boys are just the men to fill this need.
From storylines about professional sports, domestic abuse, second chance love and more, this romantic TV series could have it all.
Real
by Katy Evans
For Fans Rocky Movies and of Sports Romance
Mental health is such an important topic that too often gets shoved under the rug but it needs to be discussed and explored.
Evansโ Real series would be the perfect conduit as it follows a boxer living with bipolar disorder and is one of my most favorite romance books that explores mental health.
Iโd love to see this book series be made into a romantic TV series because the boxing matches would be thrilling, but it would be the human side of Remington and his love Brooke that would be equally appealing.
Romance Novels that Would Make the Best Romantic TV Series
While romance book series would definitely make the best romantic TV series, these standalone romance novels are equally deserving of becoming one of the best romance TV shows.
Red White & Royal Blue
by Casey McQuiston
For Fans of The West Wing and The Crown
While this popular romance novel has already been optioned for a movie, I honestly think Red, White & Royal Blue would make a great romantic TV series. Two hours is just not enough time to portray this epic love story and I want to see it ALL play out on screen.
Americans especially can never get enough of the British monarchy but throw in a secret romance between royal prince and First Son, OMG this TV series would be EPIC!
I honestly want to see all of the characters in this book come to life including Alexโs sister and friends, his mentor and of course his mother, the President of the United States.
Upsy Daisy
by Chelsea Edwards
For Fans of Grown-ish and Felicity and Fans of the 1970s!
I for one would just bask in awe at the clothes that could accompany this romantic TV series.
Upsy Daisy would bring the โ70s to the small screen with a cast of characters I couldnโt get enough of.
One of the best college romance books, Iโd love to see this romance TV series play out with characters all dealing with their own personal struggles during this time of life.
Itโd make a great new adult romance TV series that would appeal to a wide audience and one I would surely watch!

Why no cowboy romance series to give Yellowstone a run for its money? Check out Seven Brides for Seven Brothers in the old West, by USA Today bestseller, Kathleen Lawless
Absolutely! I was actually going to add a suggestion for 1863 but held off. I’ll check out the book you mentioned as I haven’t read many cowboy romances. Thanks for the suggestion.
Hoytโs Maden Lane series should be interesting to watch on a tv screen.
