Bright Light Dark Thunder Summary:

Bright Light Dark Thunder: My Review

Bright Light Dark Thunder made my list of most anticipated new romance books for February 2026 because I was so excited to see what Connor Crais could bring to the romance genre and it didn’t disappoint. I’ve loved listening to his MANY audiobook narrations and I’ve read a few books he’s written with Kayley Loring so it was a treat to dive into this new release!

For a romantic suspense novel, this book completely draws you in from the very first chapter and moves at a fast clip from that point, so don’t be surprised if you read this in one sitting like me!

I was immediately intrigued by Walker – a man who is living off the grid in the woods of Montana but whom you learn pretty quickly has some very particular skills he’s hiding. His “run-in” with Naomi in the woods when she’s wearing a prison uniform definitely shifted things into high gear and has you wondering what her story is and how he’s going to play it.

From there, Connor definitely crafted an intriguing story that blends government corruption, deceit and a type of super soldier program.

When it comes to romantic suspense, I want a story that moves at a good clip, doesn’t get bogged down into too many details but has you wondering what’s going to happen next and that’s definitely how this story plays out.

Sure, Walker and Naomi fall in love in a matter of days but maybe the kind of life and death situation they found themselves in creates that kind of scenario.

If you’re looking for a great story that weaves in suspense and steam then Bright Light Dark Thunder is for you. I read the book but I’d highly recommend listening to the audiobook since Connor himself narrates it – he’s the best!
