My Review of Falling Into You
Falling Into You was easily my most anticipated book in the Colburn Brothers series because Jill Shalvis had already built so much chemistry between Tucker and Hazel in the previous books. Every interaction left me wanting their story, and thankfully it delivered.
If childhood friends to lovers romances are your weakness, I’d absolutely recommend picking this one up. While it can be read as a standalone, I do think reading the first two books adds more depth to some of the family storylines, particularly those involving Tucker’s father and the small suspense element surrounding the construction project.
I loved the way Jill Shalvis reunited Tucker and Hazel. A life-threatening wasp sting is both hilarious and terrifying in the moment, but it’s the perfect catalyst to force these two to finally stop avoiding each other. It immediately highlights everything that makes them such compelling characters. Hazel is fiercely independent, almost to a fault, because she’s convinced she can’t rely on anyone else. Tucker, meanwhile, still loves her just as deeply as he always has, but after everything he’s endured, he struggles to believe that the good things in his life ever last.
My heart genuinely ached for both of them throughout the story. Watching them circle each other, give in to their feelings, then retreat again was frustrating at times, but it also felt incredibly believable given everything they’d experienced. Their emotional tension isn’t driven by a lack of love. It’s driven by years of hurt, guilt, and fear, making the journey back to each other feel incredibly rewarding.
That’s ultimately what I loved most about this romance. It’s the story of two soulmates who never stopped loving each other but had to heal enough to finally trust that love again. Seeing them communicate honestly, let go of the past, and realize they’d always been each other’s safe place made for a deeply satisfying emotional payoff.
The found family element continues to be one of my favorite parts of this series. The entire Colburn family rallies behind Tucker and Hazel, gently nudging them toward the future everyone else can already see. I especially loved every scene with Kiera, whose own small romantic storyline brought an unexpected smile to my face.
My only real criticism is that the relationship occasionally lingered in the push-and-pull phase a little longer than necessary. Combined with a third act conflict that felt somewhat unnecessary, the pacing slowed in the final stretch. Still, once Tucker and Hazel finally chose each other completely, their happily ever after felt incredibly well earned.

Final Thoughts
Falling Into You was everything I hoped Tucker and Hazel’s story would be. Their chemistry, emotional history, and unwavering love for one another made this one of my favorite books in the Colburn Brothers series, even if the final act stretched the conflict a bit longer than I would have liked.
If you love second chance romances, childhood friends who never truly got over each other, and emotionally satisfying happily ever afters, this is definitely one to add to your TBR. It also serves as a wonderful conclusion to this small town romance series.
