I’m not sure that I have looked forward to a Neighbors From Hell book more than Irresistible because I had fallen for Aiden in Fire and Brimstone (book 8). It was 4 YEARS since Fire and Brimstone was published so to be honest, I had a hard time remembering who Aiden was.
That said, Mathewson did a good job catching me up on the story however I don’t think this can ideally be read as a standalone.
You really need to have an idea of who this Bradford family is and what’s so crazy about them to get some of the nuances of the story (like why is Melanie eating SO MUCH food?!).
There are also A LOT of past Bradford characters introduced which would seem out of left field if you haven’t read the other books.
The time span of this story is actually quite short so not a lot actually happens in this book. What you get however is two people dancing around each other, trying to make lemonade out of quite the predicament.
I loved how they started their sharing time, given little nuggets about each other that no one else knew. They were random, crazy experiences they shared but it finally got them both to open up to one another and stoked the spark between them.
Overall it was a good addition to this series but only one that I think series devotees would enjoy without getting a bit lost.
Recommended for Neighbors From Hell lovers and surprise pregnancy romance book fans.
