My Most Anticipated New Romance Book Releases for June 2022
Loving at 40
by L.B. Dunbar
A Single Parent Romance
Releasing June 2
Archer McCaryn has been a mystery to his family. At forty-five, he isn’t certain himself who he is anymore.
When he returns to the family’s lakeside cottage, he finds there is someone in his garage apartment. In fact, she’s in his bed, and he doesn’t have a problem with the beautiful, single mother staying there as long as she doesn’t want into his heart.
Jenna Davis is self-aware – she’s a teacher, a mother, and a widow. Now in her early forties, this once free-spirited woman considers herself a responsible adult and works hard to keep life all together.
So when a college friend invites her and her two little girls to come for a visit, she’s ecstatic about a vacation. Only she’s placed in the garage apartment of her best friend’s older brother.
Being attracted to him hadn’t been on her itinerary, but there’s no going back when hearts become reckless.
I love how Dunbar’s Lakeside Cottage series looks at characters finding love after 40.
There just aren’t enough romance books with “older” heroes and heroines and I love how this series is changing that.
I cannot wait to see the spark between Archer and Jenna – two people who won’t even see it coming!
Always Practice Safe Hex
by Juliette Cross
An Enemies to Lovers, Witch Romance
Releasing June 6
Livvy Savoie is a people person. Not only does she have the magical gift of persuasion, but her natural charisma charms everyone she meets.
She hasn’t met a person she didn’t like. Until her annoyingly brilliant competitor walks through the door. No matter how hard she denies it, loathing isn’t the only emotion she feels for him.
Grim reaper Gareth Blackwater is rarely, if ever, moved beyond his broody, stoic state. But the witch he’s partnered with in the public relations contest is destroying his peace of mind.
He’s convinced that the flesh-melting attraction he feels for her is merely her witchy magic at work.
But forced proximity proves there is more than magic sparking between them. Livvy learns this enigmatic grim’s abilities are beyond any supernatural she has ever known.
And when Livvy becomes the obsessive target of a dangerous wizard, Gareth proves just how powerful he truly is. Because no one is going to hurt his Lavinia.
It’s never a hardship to pick up a new, enemies to lovers book, and the fact that this one includes a bit of forced promixity has me super excited.
Plus, I’m definitely jumping on the bandwagon of devouring witch romance books so this one is a must-read on my list this June.
Wicked Beauty
by Katee Robert
A Polyamorous, Modern Retelling Romance
Releasing June 7
Achilles Kallis may have been born with nothing, but as a child he vowed he would claw his way into Olympus’ inner circle. Now that a coveted role has opened to anyone with the strength to claim it, he and his partner, Patroclus Fotos, plan to compete and double their odds of winning.
Neither expect infamous beauty Helen Kasios to be part of the prize, or for the complicated fire that burns the moment she looks their way.
Zeus may have decided Helen is his to give to away, but she has her own plans. She enters into the competition effectively vying for her own hand in marriage.
Unfortunately, there are those who would rather see her disposed of than lead the city. The only people she can trust are the ones she can’t keep her hands off—Achilles and Patroclus.
But can she really believe they have her best interests at heart when every stolen kiss is a battlefield?
Robert blew me away with the first two novels in the Neon Gods series and after reading a teaser for this one, I’m all in!
I love her modern retellings of Greek mythology characters and cannot wait to see how Helen of Troy, Achilles, and Patroclus get hot and heavy this summer. My Review.
How to Fake it in Hollywood
by Ava Wilder
A Fake Relationship, Hollywood Romance
Releasing June 14
Grey Brooks is on a mission to keep her career afloat now that the end of her long-running teen TV show has her (unsuccessfully) pounding the pavement again.
With a life-changing role on the line, she’s finally desperate enough to agree to her publicist’s scheme: fake a love affair with a disgraced Hollywood heartthrob who needs the publicity.
Ethan Atkins just wants to be left alone. Between his high-profile divorce, struggles with drinking, and grief over the loss of his longtime creative partner and best friend, Ethan has slowly let himself fade into the background.
But to produce the last movie he and his partner wrote together, Ethan agrees to a gossip-inducing affair with a gorgeous actress, even if it’s the last thing he wants to do.
Though their juicy public relationship is less than perfect behind the scenes, it doesn’t take long before Grey and Ethan’s sizzling chemistry starts to feel like more than just an act.
Each month I love to check out a new romance author to me and this month it looks like Wilder’s debut novel will be it.
I’m a sucker for fake relationship romances as well as grumpy heroes, so I’m excited to see how Ethan and Grey manage the Hollywood gossip in this one. My Review.
Last on the List
by Amy Daws
A Single Dad, Nanny Romance
Releasing June 16
CEO millionaire, Max Fletcher is a single dad in desperate need of a nanny.
Cozy Barlow is in the middle of her self-appointed “gap year” and doing everything she can to detach from her past.
But when her sister begs her to interview for the nanny position of a high maintenance client, she doesn’t have a good enough reason to say no.
While Max is prepared to give the twenty-something the boot, his little girl thinks this plus-sized in body and spirit nanny might be her new bestie, so she hires her on the spot.
Now Max is stuck with this bizarre woman who hates everything he represents—corporate greed, money, status, power.
But one stormy night when the power goes out, he discovers Cozy doesn’t hate him. In fact, he’s the leading role in her fantasies.
I’m SO excited for this single dad romance!
Not just because Amy Daws is writing it (though I will read anything she writes) but because I already love these characters.
I also have a feeling Max’s little girl is going to be a hoot as well. We’ve seen glimpses of Max in other books so I’m super psyched to finally get his story!

Fake It Till You Bake It
by Jamie Wesley
A Delicious, Fake Relationship Romance
Releasing June 21
Jada Townsend-Matthews is the most reviled woman in America after turning down a proposal on a reality dating show.
When she comes home to lick her wounds, Jada finds herself working at San Diego’s newest cupcake bakery, Sugar Blitz, alongside the uptight owner and professional football player Donovan Dell.
When a reporter mistakenly believes Jada and Donovan are an item, they realize they can use the misunderstanding to their advantage to help the struggling bakery and rehabilitate Jada’s image.
Faking a relationship should be simple, but sometimes love is the most unexpected ingredient.
People’s fascination with reality TV is hilarious to me, but I’m all for it when it’s a plotline for a romance book!
I’m excited to see how Jada recovers from her dating show experience and how she plans to ignore her feelings for Donovan once they start fake dating!
This is another book that made my best summer reads for 2022 and I cannot wait!
A Thousand Miles
by Bridget Morrissey
A Second Chance Romance
Releasing June 21
Dee Matthews is the cohost of the smash-hit podcast Did I Forget To Tell You?, where she interviews family, friends, and past lovers.
Nothing is off limits, except for one man (known on the show only as Name Redacted) who happens to be her high school best friend Ben.
During their senior year spring break, Dee and Ben took a road trip to visit Ben’s grandma. They buried a time capsule in her backyard, pledging to return in ten years to open it.
Then their friendship fell apart in spectacular fashion. They haven’t spoken to each other since.
When Ben’s grandma proclaims her dying wish- for him to stop doing what is safest and go after what he really wants, he starts by showing up on Dee’s doorstep with every intention of fulfilling their long-ago promise.
Despite her reservations, Dee can’t say no. This trip could be her chance to give her listeners the Name Redacted interview they’ve been begging for—and finally put her unresolved feelings for Ben to rest.
As the miles fly by, Dee and Ben’s friendship reignites. But the closer they get to reaching their destination, the more apparent it becomes that their attraction to each other cannot be ignored.
Their last adventure ended in disaster, and they’re about to find out if any hope of a future together is in the rearview mirror.
This looks to be a great friends to lovers, second chance love story that is perfect to kick off summer.
I’m eager to go on this road trip with Dee and Ben and see where it takes them in life and love.
American Royalty
by Tracey Livesay
A Royal Romance
Releasing June 28
Rapper Danielle “Duchess” Nelson is on the verge of signing a deal that’ll make her one of the richest women in hip hop. But an incident with a rising pop star has gone viral, unfairly putting her deal in jeopardy.
A brilliant professor and reclusive royal, Prince Jameson prefers life out of the spotlight. But with the Queen’s children involved in one scandal after another, she puts Jameson in charge of a tribute concert in her late husband’s honor.
Out of his depth, he takes the advice of a student and signs “Duchess” for the gig who’s anxious for the good publicity.
Too late, Jameson discovers the American rapper is popular, raunchy and not what the Queen wanted, although he’s having an entirely different reaction. Thrown together, they give in to the explosive attraction flaring between them.
But as the glare of the limelight intensifies and outside forces try to interfere, will the Prince and Duchess be a fairy tale romance for the ages or a disaster of palatial proportions?
This might be my most anticipated romance book of the summer! I fell in love with Livesay’s writing with Like Lovers Do and I cannot wait to read this one.
I love everything about the story set up including the royalty and rapper angles. I cannot wait to read it! My Review.
You Were Made to Be Mine
by Julie Anne Long
A Historical Romance Novel
Releasing June 28
The mission: Find the Earl of Brundage’s runaway fiancée in exchange for a fortune. Child’s play for legendary British former spymaster, Christian Hawkes.
The catch? Hawkes knows in his bones that Brundage is the traitor to England who landed him in a brutal French prison. Hawkes is destitute, the earl is desperate, and a bargain is struck.
Fleeing a savagely shattered dream, the sheltered Lady Aurelie Capet finds refuge in an alias and the warmth and kindness of the Grand Palace on the Thames—until a gorgeous, mysterious disturbance to her peace literally topples through the door.
An unexpected, fierce desire that feels destined, dangerous—and devastatingly sweet—ignites between the sheltered beauty and the jaded spy, and as they slowly unravel each other’s shocking secrets Hawkes closes in on the truth about the earl.
Soon it’s clear they can have no future without vanquishing the past: Hawkes knows that loving her means avenging her. Aurelie knows that loving Hawkes means freeing him to do that, no matter the cost.
I adored a previous book in this series, I’m Only Wicked With You, and am anxious to get back to the Grand Palace on the Thames.
Long’s writing sweeps you right into these stories of unexpected love and mystery and I cannot wait to see what she creates with this one.
This is book five in Long’s The Palace of Rogues series, so after finishing this one, be sure to circle back to check out the rest of the series.
The Romance Recipe
by Ruby Barrett
A Sapphic, FF Romance
Releasing June 28
Amy Chambers will do anything to revive her ailing restaurant, including hiring a former reality-show finalist with good connections and a lot to prove. But her hopes that Sophie Brunet’s skills and celebrity status would bring her restaurant back from the brink of failure are beginning to wane.
Sophie just wants to cook. She doesn’t want to constantly post on social media for her dead-in-the-water reality TV career, and she doesn’t want to think about what her attraction to her boss might mean.
Then, an opportunity: a new foodie TV show might provide the exposure they need. An uneasy truce is fine for starters, but making their dreams come true means making some personal and painful sacrifices and soon, there’s more than just the restaurant at stake.
This is another summer romance with the theme of reality TV but it honestly has me at cooking and office romance.
I adore characters who are grumps and Sophie seems to fit the bill, but I think her desperation to ignore her attraction to her boss is going to make this one a perfect romance book for summer.
Interesting list. The only author I recognized was Julie Ann Long. I’ll have to take a look at the others.
