There are some exciting new romantasy books coming in 2027, including the conclusions to several series I cannot wait to finish!
While I’m definitely a romance-first reader, I love getting lost in a fantasy world with unforgettable characters, a swoon-worthy love story, and a little magic thrown in. And this year’s upcoming releases include a few books I’ve been waiting rather impatiently for!
Here are the new romantasy books of 2027 I’m most excited to read, starting with my three biggest anticipated releases.

My Top 3 Most Anticipated Romantasy Books of 2027

Fae & Alchemy Series Book 3
by Callie Hart
Releasing September 7, 2027
I don’t even need a title yet to have this as my most anticipated romantasy pick for 2027! I’m obsessed with Kingfisher and Saeris and am desperate for this series finale that will hopefully give us an epic conclusion to the stories of all the characters I’ve fallen for.

Throne of Frost and Flame
by J.R. Ward
Releasing April 6, 2027
This is the second book in the Kingdoms of the Compass series, and I NEED it after that cliffhanger in Crown of War and Shadow! What will become of Sorrel, and will the Dark King stay trapped in the Fulcrum? I have so many questions and am anxiously awaiting answers in this next installment!

Seven and the Swift
by Devney Perry
Releasing March 9, 2027
Rites of the Starling definitely took this series in a different direction than I was anticipating, but now I’m even more curious to see how Devney will wrap everything up. I’m especially anxious to see how Odessa’s love story unfolds and what becomes of the Crux!

More Anticipated Romantasy Books Releasing in 2027

A Court of Forgotten Melody: The Valkyrie Cycle, Movements II & III
by Sarah J. Maas
Releasing January 12, 2027
I have some catching up to do in the A Court of Thorns and Roses series before I can dive into this seventh book, but I know this is one of the biggest releases romantasy readers are counting down the days for! With Prythian facing more threats, shifting alliances, and the looming danger of Koschei, it sounds like there’s plenty in store for ACOTAR fans.

Joyfully Ever After
by Sara Raasch
Releasing March 2, 2027
I’ve loved Sara’s entire Royals and Romance series and the fun spin she’s put on holidays in a fantastical world. This time we’re getting three short stories that reunite us with the princes of Christmas, St. Patrick’s Day, and Halloween, PLUS we finally get Iris’s story! I’m more than ready for another visit with these characters.

Elodie and the Dark Lord
by Ashley Poston
Releasing March 16, 2027
I already know Ashley can write the heck out of contemporary romance with a hint of magic, but I’ve yet to read her fantasy books. I love that this one kicks off a duology rather than a huge series to commit to! And give me an unsuspecting heroine coming to the rescue any day, especially a magicless librarian who must infiltrate a magical academy to save her brother.

A Bittersweet Spell
by Rebecca Ross
Releasing April 6, 2027
There’s honestly just something unique about Rebecca’s romantasy books that makes me feel so warm and cozy getting lost in the worlds and characters she creates, so anything she writes will land on my TBR. And a second chance romance involving two former lovers, a cursed manuscript, and a betrayal from the past? I already know I’m going to get completely swept up in this one.

Queen of Lies
by Sariah Wilson
Releasing April 13, 2027
I’m ready to see how Sariah wraps up her Heart of the Goddess duology! There’s something especially satisfying about returning to a fantasy world knowing you’re finally going to get answers to all those lingering questions, and I’m hoping for an ending that makes the entire journey worthwhile.

Deathrider
by Juliette Cross
Releasing April 27, 2027
This is the conclusion to The Fire That Binds trilogy, which brings together darker themes and dragon shifters, so how could I resist? I’m ready for the next sister’s story and another chance to get lost in the Roman Empire-inspired world Juliette has created!

How Rage Burns
by Tricia Levenseller
Releasing June 1, 2027
I’m really anxious for Ydra’s story after meeting her in What Fury Brings, the first book in the Wrath and Fury series. I’m expecting another empowering heroine and a storyline that continues to turn the patriarchy on its head!

Sun and Scythe
by Sara Raasch
Releasing July 13, 2027
This is the second book in Sara’s Heroes and Romance series, where the Reaper’s daughter and a descendant of Ra find themselves in a sunshine-meets-the-personification-of-death romance. I’m hoping this is going to be the perfect sapphic romance to get lost in this summer!

Diamond of the Rebellion
by Naina Kumar
Releasing July 13, 2027
I’m intrigued to see Naina venture into historical fantasy with a story that blends romance, magic, and India’s fight for independence. A deposed princess joining a rebellion to steal back a powerful jewel, with a mysterious rebel guard potentially stealing her heart along the way? This sounds like such a unique story, and I’m anxious to see how it all unfolds!

The Dark Descent
by Kristen Ciccarelli
Releasing August 3, 2027
This is the third book in Ciccarelli’s Crimson Moth series, which means we get more Rune Winters and Gideon while trying to figure out why witches are still vanishing. It’s been a hot minute since we’ve visited this world, so I’m excited that we’re finally getting more in 2027!
The Last Thorn
by Talia Hibbert
Expected August 2027
I’ve loved Talia’s contemporary romances, so I’m beyond curious to see what she does with her fantasy romance debut! She’s already proven she can write characters with incredible chemistry, and I’m hoping she brings that same magic to a whole new world. I don’t even need the full synopsis yet to know this one belongs on my TBR!
