What This Book Is About
Beau Black is the eldest son in the Black family and already has a lot on his shoulders. His father’s health is declining due to dementia, leaving Beau responsible for much of the day-to-day running of the family ranch while also raising his twin daughters as a single dad.
Then he meets Hallie.
One night of talking and drinking ends in one delicious kiss, only for Beau to discover that the woman he can’t stop thinking about is the half-sister of the mother of his children, who died five years ago on the night she was leaving him.
Talk about a complicated start to a romance.
When Hallie ends up moving into Beau’s house to nanny his daughters for the summer, while also giving her a safe place away from an ex-boyfriend who has come to town, staying away from each other becomes a whole lot harder.
My Review of Wanted
Paisley Hope is launching a new cowboy romance series and I’m here for it!
The chemistry and yearning between Beau and Hallie were what really kept me glued to the pages. After that first night together, neither one can stop thinking about the other, but once they realize who the other person is, their attraction suddenly feels very off-limits.
The taboo nature of the relationship mostly stays in their own heads, which worked for me. It gives them a reason to fight what they’re feeling without creating a ton of outside drama around their relationship. And once Hallie moves into Beau’s house for the summer? It really becomes a matter of when, not if, all that attraction is finally going to boil over.
And that’s when I fell a bit harder for Beau because hello, dirty-talking cowboy. 😊
But what I really loved about Beau was seeing all the different sides of him. He’s surprisingly a little morally grey and doesn’t hesitate to get his hands dirty when it comes to doing what he thinks needs to be done for his family’s ranch. He’s also protective of Hallie when she needs it.
Then you see him with his girls.
His devotion to being a father to his daughters was probably my favorite thing about him. This is a man who can handle the ranch and fill out a pair of Wranglers, but he’ll also jump right into role-playing with his girls and run through a sprinkler with them. Those moments really brought out his softer side and made him so much more than just another hot cowboy hero.
I also appreciated how the third-act conflict was handled. It didn’t drag on forever simply to keep Beau and Hallie apart. Instead, it led to an adult conversation that I really appreciated, especially after watching these two spend so much of the book wrestling with whether they should even want each other.
For me, that’s ultimately why the romance worked. The attraction is there immediately, but the emotional tension comes from Beau and Hallie believing this is a line they shouldn’t cross. Forced proximity makes it increasingly impossible to ignore what they’re feeling, while Hallie’s relationship with Beau’s daughters gives their connection more depth than just physical attraction.
There’s also a lot happening around the romance. Beau’s father’s declining health is a significant part of the story, and we meet Beau’s two brothers, who I’m assuming we’ll be seeing a lot more of as the Grosvenor Ranch series continues.
Readers of Paisley Hope’s Silver Pines Ranch series will also recognize some familiar faces during the ranch’s branding event. You don’t need to read that series first, but if Wanted introduces you to Paisley’s cowboys, I have a feeling you may be circling back for more.
Paisley Hope has definitely found her lane with ranchers, cowboys, family dynamics, and small-town romance, and Wanted is a strong start to this new series.

Beau was the highlight for me. I loved seeing the contrast between the man willing to get his hands dirty for the ranch, the father who would do anything for his girls, and the man who very much knows what he wants once he finally lets himself have Hallie.
The romance worked because I believed their attraction from that first meeting and understood why they tried so hard to fight it. Add in the family dynamics, Beau’s father’s storyline, and two more Black brothers waiting in the wings, and I’m definitely interested in seeing where Paisley Hope takes the Grosvenor Ranch series next.
