Dangelico is hands down one of those rare authors that I automatically read no matter what.
She has a way with words to create such unforgettable characters and moments that just make your heart want to burst. You Can Have Manhattan just ticks all the right boxes for me and is another one of Dangelicoโs gems that you donโt want to miss.
Slow Burn Romance at Itโs Finest
What is it about slow burn romances that just hit me right in the ticker?
I canโt imagine that this type of romance novel is easy to write AT ALL because you have to craft the angst and the yearning and the desire JUST RIGHT and Dangelico seems to do it every time in her books.
Iโm serious. EVERY SINGLE TIME.
Now if you craft a slow burn romance and add in a fake relationship into the mixโฆthat just creates an all the feels heaven for me.
This book made me FEEL and it made me LAUGH and it made me CRY because you just get caught up into who these characters are, what they are feeling, what they are fighting and ultimately what they are craving beyond a shadow of a doubt.
Scott Blackstone and Sydney Evans are not strangers to one another and yet they havenโt seen each other for 8 years after one hot and heavy kiss. Now they are thrown into a fake marriage thanks to Scottโs father that neither one wants but are forced to agree to for their own reasons.
What I love about Dangelicoโs characters are that they seem real. I was going to say slightly flawed but thatโs not really it because they are just human โ they are real in their feelings and actions.
Sometimes itโs hard to relate to characters who are above and beyond perfect but even though Scott and Sydney are amazing in their own rights (and have a lot going for them) they have vulnerabilities.
I mean Scott made me cry which I rarely do while reading a book but I could understand his motivations and actions so clearly.
Sydney is the epitome of a thriver as she describes herself. I was so in awe of her control, her emotional intelligence and her ability to be vulnerable despite that being a very difficult place to allow herself to go given her past.
If you love slow burn romances, fake relationships, characters that you never want to leave, then I highly recommend reading You Can Have Manhattan. Now on to waiting for Dangelicoโs next book to be releasedโฆ.
