I was looking for a Christmas romance book that was heavy on the steaminess and boy did this one deliver.
Declan is a workaholic lawyer who’s dreading going home for the Christmas holiday and spending New Years at a family wedding. To help him get through the week he proposes a deal to his executive assistant.
She can have Christmas day off to spend with her family if she poses as his fake girlfriend and spends Christmas Eve with his family and attends the wedding.
The only problem is that his assistant claims to hate him and he’s secretly been in love with her since the moment he met her.
Oh the chemistry in this book!
It was totally fueled by this hate to love angst where both could give as good as they got.
Maddie supposedly hated Declan and Declan loved to raze his assistant but underneath the animosity and assholery, was this attraction they both felt. I LOVED IT!
Even the negotiation of their fake relationship was hot, with the back and forth having the funniest and wittiest banter.
Loring must have had so much fun writing these characters and their dialogue. It was this constant simmer and burn between the two of them.
This was seriously one great office romance with a fake relationship that gave them the go ahead to act on their feelings.
Maddie was a spitfire and her niece offered some great comedic relief on the side. Declan however claims a spot on my best book boyfriend list!
He is this hot, arrogant alpha and yet a man with a tender, thoughtful inside that makes him the perfect man for Maddie and for us romance book lovers!
The holiday aspect to the story makes this a must read every Christmas season (and it made my best Christmas romance books list!) but it’s so good that I’d pick it up any time of year.
