Same Time Next Summer

A Summer Romance
Releasing June 6, 2023
Sam’s life is on track. She has the perfect doctor fiancé, Jack (his strict routines are a good thing, really), a great job in Manhattan (unless they fire her), and is about to tour a wedding venue near her family’s Long Island beach house.
Everything should go to plan, yet the minute she arrives, Sam senses something is off. Wyatt is here. Her Wyatt.
But there’s no reason for a thirty-year-old engaged woman to feel panicked around the guy who broke her heart when she was seventeen. Right?
Yet being back at this beach, hearing notes from Wyatt’s guitar float across the night air from next door as if no time has passed—Sam’s memories come flooding back: the feel of Wyatt’s skin on hers, their nights in the treehouse, and the truth behind their split.
Sam remembers who she used to be, and as Wyatt reenters her life their connection is as undeniable as it always was. She will have to make a choice.
The possible love triangle that Sam finds herself in has me wanting to know what happens in this must-read summer romance of 2023!
Neighbors to lovers is such a fun romance book trope and I cannot wait to see what the forced proximity with her past love means for her intended wedding plans.

Mortal Follies
by Alexis Hall
A Fantasy Romance
Releasing June 6, 2023
It is the year 1814, and life for a young lady of good breeding has many difficulties. There are balls to attend, fashions to follow, marriages to consider, and, of course, the tiny complication of existing in a world swarming with fairy spirits, interfering deities, and actual straight-up sorcerers.
Miss Maelys Mitchelmore finds her entry into high society hindered by an irritating curse.
It begins innocuously enough with her dress slowly unmaking itself over the course of an evening at a high-profile ball, a scandal she narrowly manages to escape.
However, as the curse progresses to more fatal proportions, Miss Mitchelmore must seek out aid, even if that means mixing with undesirable company, including Lady Georgianna Landrake—a brooding, alluring young woman sardonically nicknamed “the Duke of Annadale”—who may or may not have ended her own father and brothers to inherit their fortune.
If one is to believe the gossip, she might be some kind of malign enchantress. Then again, a malign enchantress might be exactly what Miss Mitchelmore needs.
With the Duke’s help, Miss Mitchelmore delves into a world of angry gods and vindictive magic, keen to unmask the perpetrator of these otherworldly attacks.
But Miss Mitchelmore’s reputation is not the only thing at risk in spending time with her new ally. For the reputed witch has her own secrets that may prove dangerous to Miss Mitchelmore’s heart—not to mention her life.
Is there any romance trope or subcategory that Alexis Hall isn’t willing to try writing?!
I absolutely love that about his writing. He’s tackled billionaire romance, MM romance, historical romance, and now fantasy and I’m all for it! I’m diving into my advanced copy soon.

We Could Be So Good
by Cat Sebastian
A Gay Romance Novel
Releasing June 6, 2023
Nick Russo has worked his way from a rough Brooklyn neighborhood to a reporting job at one of the city’s biggest newspapers.
But the late 1950s are a hostile time for gay men, and Nick knows that he can’t let anyone into his life. He just never counted on meeting someone as impossible to say no to as Andy.
Andy Fleming’s newspaper-tycoon father wants him to take over the family business. Andy, though, has no intention of running the paper.
He’s barely able to run his life—he’s never paid a bill on time, routinely gets lost on the way to work, and would rather gouge out his own eyes than deal with office politics.
Andy agrees to work for a year in the newsroom, knowing he’ll embarrass himself and hate every second of it.
Except, Nick Russo keeps rescuing Andy: showing him the ropes, tracking down his keys, freeing his tie when it gets stuck in the ancient filing cabinets. Their unlikely friendship soon sharpens into feelings they can’t deny.
But what feels possible in secret—this fragile, tender thing between them—seems doomed in the light of day. Now Nick and Andy have to decide if, for the first time, they’re willing to fight.
I can honestly say I’ve never read a romance novel set in the 1950s and I’m so intrigued, which is why this book made my list of most anticipated gay romance books for 2023!
I like the office romance flare to this one and can’t wait to see what goes on at the paper while they grow close to one another.
Add this to your TBR list this year if you want a different type of historical romance to read this summer.

Corrupting the Innocent
by P. Rayne
A Mafia Romance
Releasing June 8, 2023
For years, Sofia Moretti has harbored a secret love for her best friend’s older brother. Yet, he’s never shown any sign of sharing her feelings.
Her fantasies will remain just that though—fantasies. For two reasons. The first being he’s arranged to marry the cunning and cold-hearted, Aurora Salucci.
The second being that Antonio always does what his duty demands, and if his father wants him married to Aurora, he’ll marry her.
Now, she’s forced to watch her parade him all over the Sicuro Academy, our private college for mafia children, as her feelings of loneliness grow.
Antonio La Rosa’s life has been a series of duties—to the mafia, to his father, but never to himself.
That’s why his father arranged his engagement to Aurora Salucci though she’s nothing he’s ever wanted in a wife with her hard edges and being about as malleable as granite.
He never looked at Sofia Moretti with anything other than sisterly affection, but now she consumes his every thought.
Her innocence beckons him, and he yearns to be the one who taints it. But he has a duty. And that duty means prioritizing his family’s needs above his own.
And right now, the family needs him to uncover the traitor plotting against them. Little does he know, the enemy is closer than he ever imagined.
Piper Rayne is diving into darker romance as P. Rayne and I can’t wait to check out this second book in the new mafia series.
There’s just something about arranged marriages but I like the twist that is thrown Antonio’s way in this new release.

Love, Theoretically
by Ali Hazelwood
An Enemies to Lovers Romance
Releasing June 13, 2023
The many lives of theoretical physicist Elsie Hannaway have finally caught up with her. By day, she’s an adjunct professor, toiling away at grading labs and teaching thermodynamics in the hopes of landing tenure.
By other day, Elsie makes up for her non-existent paycheck by offering her services as a fake girlfriend, tapping into her expertly honed people-pleasing skills to embody whichever version of herself the client needs.
Honestly, it’s a pretty sweet gig—until Jack Smith, the annoyingly attractive and arrogant older brother of her favorite client, turns out to be the cold-hearted experimental physicist who ruined her mentor’s career and undermined the reputation of theorists everywhere.
And he’s the same Jack Smith who rules over the physics department at MIT, standing right between Elsie and her dream job.
Elsie is prepared for an all-out battle of scholarly sabotage but…those long, penetrating looks? Not having to be anything other than her true self when she’s with him?
Will falling into an experimentalist’s orbit finally tempt her to put her most guarded theories on love into practice?
Ali Hazelwood is another go-to author for me because I love her writing, strong female characters and STEM storylines.
If you love enemies to lovers romance then you HAVE to read this novel. I’ve already read it and can’t recommend it enough as it’s already earned its spot on my list of best romance novels of 2023 – it’s that good!
Just order it already and then check out my review of Love, Theoretically.

The Sweetheart List
by Jill Shalvis
A Small Town Romance
Releasing June 13, 2023
When Harper Shaw’s life falls apart, she knows it’s time for a change.
She removes everything that doesn’t spark joy—from her soul-sucking job to eating kale to making lists—and sets off for the last place she was happy, Lake Tahoe (who wouldn’t feel good there, right?) to fulfill her dream of opening her own bakery.
With her Sugar Pine Bakery in between a tavern, owned by hot, grumpy Bodie Campbell, and a bookstore, run by her new BFF, she feels a peace she’s never experienced since…well, forever..
Then she meets Ivy, a teenage runaway, who barrels into her heart. She sees a lot of herself in Ivy and takes her under her wing, but the teenager has secrets…
When those secrets explode, it changes Harper’s new world, and she’ll learn, it’s never too late to start over, it’s never too late to figure out your life, and best of all, it’s never too late to let yourself believe in love.
I’ve been reading a lot of small town romance books as of late so I figured I’d keep the streak going with new release from Shalvis.
There’s just something about her small town romances and the storylines that she carves out that scream classic romance to me and this one looks to be a great grumpy sunshine romance.
Plus, I can’t wait to see the dynamic between Harper and Ivy too.

Perfect Together
by Kristen Ashley
A Second Chance Romance
Releasing June 13, 2023
Wyn and Remy Gastineau were perfect together until, without warning, Remy walks out on their life, their love and their marriage.
Wyn is blindsided and heartbroken. It takes her years to get over the loss of Remy.
Sometime later, their children call a family meeting and Remy is acting strange. Wyn refuses to hope. Remy has moved on. She must do the same.
But she’s wrong.
Remy wants her back and he’s pulling no punches. He’s determined to do the work to piece together the marriage he shattered.
Forced by circumstances to tell Wyn things he never wanted her to know, Remy reveals his tragic secrets.
As the family reels from pain long buried now laid bared, Wyn realizes instead of letting go, she has to hold tight to the man and the family they made that’s perfect together.
I’m a fan of second chance romance books but not since I read Kennedy Ryan’s, Before I Let Go, did I read one about a former married couple rekindling their relationship.
There really aren’t that many romance books about married couples or those whose marriage falls apart so I’m excited to see what Ashley has in store with this one.

Will They or Won’t They
Ava Wilder
A Second Chance Romance
Releasing June 27, 2023
Lilah Hunter and Shane McCarthy are madly in love—at least, their characters are. As the stars of the hit paranormal TV show Intangible, Lilah and Shane spent years pining for each other onscreen until Lilah ditched the show at the end of season five in hopes of becoming a movie star.
With no such luck, she’s back to film the much-hyped ninth and final season, in which Lilah and Shane’s characters will get together at last.
But coming back means facing one of the biggest reasons she left: Shane. Ever since their secret behind-the-scenes fling imploded at the end of season one, the two of them have despised each other.
Now reunited on set for the first time in years—with the world’s eyes on them and their post-show careers on the line—they’ll have to grit their teeth and play nice.
But under pressure to give Intangible’s fans the happy ending they’ve been waiting for Lilah and Shane are forced to get closer than ever.
And if they’re not careful, they might just get blindsided by one final twist: a real-life happy ending of their own.
Wilder wowed me with her debut novel, How to Fake It in Hollywood, but man did she solidify her spot as a must-read author in my book with her sophomore novel.
I absolutely loved this book because of Lilah and Shane. Wilder has this way of writing characters you can’t help but fall for because they are real, flawed, vulnerable and sometimes achingly frustrating.
I highly recommend this book as it too has claimed a spot on my list of best romance books of 2023 so far. Check out my review of Will They or Won’t They.

The First Date Prophecy
by Kate and Danni Tamberelli
A Contemporary Romance
Releasing June 27, 2023
Brooklyn-based aspiring writer Lucy Minninger has no trouble putting the comedy in her rom-coms. It’s the romance part of the equation that’s the problem.
But even as the rejection slips pile up, and her second dates dwindle, Lucy refuses to give up hope—or her HeartThrobs™ dating profile . . .
Former child star Rudy Riziero made his mark on some of the most popular kids shows of the ՚90s. But that early success has pigeonholed him into a stand-up routine riffing on his past work, while the slick single life he envisioned was clearly a fantasy.
He’s actually ready for a relationship, if he could just find someone uninterested in who he used to be . . .
When Lucy and Rudy match online, they’re eager to meet. But after their first date ends in a psychic’s prophecy that is equal parts great fortune and certain doom, their flirty quips end and their search for answers to some of life’s big questions begins: Is there really one person for everyone? Do destinies really intertwine? Where can you find the best tacos in Brooklyn?
And when it matters most, will they throw caution—and fate—to the wind, trust their instincts—and write their own futures?
Not going to lie, I hope this is going to be one hilarious, laugh-out-loud rom-com! Considering these characters are comedians, I’m so excited for their banter 😊.
I also love that this book is high on 90’s nostalgia and is inspired by the love story of the real-life couple who authors this romance!
