The first letter arrived the day my husband was buried. It was postmarked from the state penitentiary, and contained a single sentence: I’ll wait forever if I have to.
It was signed by Dante, a man I didn’t know. Out of simple curiosity, I wrote back to ask him what exactly he was waiting for. His reply? You.
I told the mystery man he had the wrong girl. He said he didn’t. I said we’d never met, but he said I was wrong.
We went back and forth for a year, exchanging letters every week that grew increasingly more intimate.
Then one day, the letters stopped. When I found out why, it was already too late. Dante was at my doorstep.
And nothing on earth could have prepared me for what happened next.
OMG, how does JT come up with her ideas?! (Well, she will tell you in the acknowledgments for this one but wow!).
She’s such a fantastic writer which is why I’ll read anything she writes…even when it comes with a long disclaimer and warning.
While I appreciated the disclaimer, I didn’t feel it was necessary. I was ready for something very dark and disturbing but it wasn’t, so don’t let that deter you from reading this!
But… I will agree with her description that it’s a non-traditional romance so be forewarned there.
If you read Midnight Valentine and/or Perfect Strangers then you’ll love this as it totally has similar vibes to both.
I personally recommend it for Aidan alone…he rivals Spider, Killian and Declan (for similar Dom/sub action) as my favorite alphas from her books. I seriously loved everything about this guy and his time with Kayla.
He was hot as all get out but also had this beautiful heart. I loved every side of him and only wish we got more of him.
I don’t want to say more for fear of spoilers but I will say I’m proud that I caught one hint that was dropped along the way. 🙂
And of course, there’s the book cover which is freakin HOT!
*I received an advanced reader copy. All opinions are my own.
