My Most Anticipated New Romance Book Releases for August 2022
Husband Material
by Alexis Hall
A MM Romance
Releasing August 2
Luc and Oliver met, pretended to fall in love, fell in love for real, dealt with heartbreak and disappointment and family and friendsโฆand somehow figured out a way to make it work.
Now it seems like everyone around them is getting married, and Lucโs feeling the social pressure to propose.
But itโll take more than four weddings, a funeral, and a bowl full of special curry to get these two from I donโt know what Iโm doing to I do.
I adore authors who give us more of our favorite couples to see what happens after the initial falling in love stage.
Iโm anxious to see what happens to these two opposites when the pressure of marriage is put on them.
I kind of consider this a must-read for anyone who read Boyfriend Material and liked it. My Review.
The Hookup Plan
by Farrah Rochon
An Enemies to Lovers Romance
Releasing August 2
Successful pediatric surgeon London Kelley just needs to find some balance and de-stress.
According to her friends, what London really needs is a casual hookup. A night of fun with no strings.
But no oneโleast of all Londonโexpected it to go down at her high school reunion with Drew Sullivan, millionaire, owner of delicious abs, and oh yes, her archnemesis.
But now London has found out the real reason Drewโs back in Austin: to decide whether her beloved hospital remains open.
Worse, Drew is doing everything he can to show her that heโs a decent guy who actually cares.
But Londonโs not falling for it. Because while sleeping with the enemy is one thing, falling for him is definitely not part of the plan.
Sign me up for a new enemies to lovers romance! Though this one seems more like a frenemies to lovers given the two reconnect at their high school reunion.
I love it when apparent casual hook-ups turn into more which appears to be the case in this new release!
Luck and Last Resorts
by Sarah Grunder Ruiz
A Second Chance Romance
Releasing August 9
Ten years after fleeing home, Nina is the chief stewardess on the super yacht Serendipity, single by choice, and perfectly content with how life has turned out.
But Ninaโs ex-coworker and old flame, Irish chef Ollie Dunne, isnโt so happy with the status quo.
One year after leaving yachting, he’s returned as the Serendipityโs chef with an ultimatum: if Nina continues to deny she’s in love with him by the end of this charter season, he’ll go back to Ireland for good.
Nina and Ollie’s shared secret from their past threatens to shipwreck not only their relationship, but the entire boat.
But as their connection grows amidst chaotic guests and crew drama, could there be smooth sailing in their future?
Whoโs ready to set sail on a yacht this summer with this second chance romance?
If Ollie canโt sneak his way back into Ninaโs heart with his cooking, then I hope the forced proximity can seal the deal.
My husband loves to watch the TV show, Below Deck, and Iโm definitely getting that kind of vibe with this book which will be my first by this author.
One Night with the Duke
by Jodi Ellen Malpas
A Regency Romance
Releasing August 16
It’s 1814 and nineteenโyearโold Eliza Melrose is about to be launched into London’s high societyโmuch to her dismay.
The last thing she wants is a husband.
Eliza’s “misplaced” thirst for adventure, knowledge and the creative word is a bone of contention for her father, who battles endlessly to keep her curiosity and ambitions in check, for women are not meant to ask questions or give opinions in matters of business.
But then she meets the youngest son of the late Duke of Chester, a disgraced nobleman who is shrouded in mystery and proving quite impossible to resist.
If I know one thing, Malpas knows how to bring the steam in her romance books so Iโm excited to see how that plays out in a Regency romance.
Iโm due for a great historical romance so Iโm hoping this seals the deal.
Pen Pal
by J.T. Geissinger
A Dark Romance
Releasing August 16
The first letter arrived the day my husband was buried. It was postmarked from the state penitentiary, and contained a single sentence: Iโll wait forever if I have to.
It was signed by Dante, a man I didnโt know. Out of simple curiosity, I wrote back to ask him what exactly he was waiting for. His reply? You.
I told the mystery man he had the wrong girl. He said he didnโt. I said weโd never met, but he said I was wrong.
We went back and forth for a year, exchanging letters every week that grew increasingly more intimate.
Then one day, the letters stopped. When I found out why, it was already too late. Dante was at my doorstep.
And nothing on earth could have prepared me for what happened next.
Nothing can keep me from reading Geissingerโs latest!
Sheโs already forewarned her readers that this is dark and definitely full of twists so Iโm excited, a bit nervous and so ready.
Iโm wondering if Iโll be throwing my iPad at the wall at one point like I wanted to while reading Perfect Strangers. ๐ My Review.

Love on the Brain
by Ali Hazelwood
An Enemies to Lovers Romance
Releasing August 23
Bee Kรถnigswasser lives by a simple code: What would Marie Curie do?
If NASA offered her the lead on a neuroengineering project, Marie would accept without hesitation.
But the mother of modern physics never had to co-lead with Levi Ward.
Sure, Levi is attractive in a tall, dark, and piercing-eyes kind of way.
But Levi made his feelings toward Bee very clear in grad schoolโarchenemies work best employed in their own galaxies far, far away.
Now, her equipment is missing, the staff is ignoring her, and Bee finds her floundering career in somewhat of a pickle.
But now she seems to see Levi softening into an ally, backing her plays, seconding her ideasโฆdevouring her with those eyes.
But when it comes time to actually make a move and put her heart on the line, thereโs only one question that matters: What will Bee Kรถnigswasser do?
After falling completely in love with Hazelwoodโs debut novel last year, The Love Hypothesis, there was no doubt that Iโd be reading her second novel.
If you have a hankering for STEM-focused romance books and smart, witty heroines, then this is a must-read this month.
Heartbreaker
by Sarah MacLean
A Historical Romance
Releasing August 23
Raised among Londonโs most notorious thugs, a twist of fate landed Adelaide Frampton in the ballrooms of Mayfair, where she masquerades as a quiet wallflower without anyone recognizing that sheโs the Matchbreaker- using her superior skills as a thief to help brides avoid the altar.
Henry, Duke of Clayborn, has spent a lifetime living in perfection. He has no time for the salacious gossip that arises every time the Matchbreaker ends another groom.
His own reputation is impeccableโand the last thing he needs is a frustrating, fascinating woman discovering the truth of his past, or the secrets he holds close.
When the two find themselves on a journey across Britain to stop a wedding, itโs impossible for Clayborn to resist this woman who both frustrates and fascinates him.
But late-night carriage rides make for delicious danger, and soon Adelaide is uncovering Claybornโs truths, throwing his well-laid plans into chaos, and threatening to steal his heavily guarded heart.
Will this finally be the first of MacLeanโs books for me to read?
There really is no excuse as to why I havenโt yet checked out her work and this one sounds so compelling.
I love historical romance novels, but adore those with strong heroines and I have no doubt that Adelaide is going to be a great one!
Kit McBride Gets a Wife
by Amy Barry
A Cowboy, Marriage of Convenience Romance
Releasing August 23
Kit McBride knows that Buck’s Creek, Montana, is no place to find a wife.
Between him and his three brothers, they manage all right on their own.
But unbeknownst to Kit, his sister is tired of cleaning, cooking, and mending for her big brothers, so she places an ad in The Matrimonial News to get them hitched.
After Maddy Mooney emigrated from Ireland, she found employment with an eccentric but poor widow.
When her mistress decides to answer an ad for a mail-order bride, Maddโy is dragged along for the ride to Montana.
But en route to the West, Maddy is suddenly abandoned and left to assume the widow’s name, position, and matrimonial prospects.
With no other recourse in the wilderness, Maddy must convince Kit sheโs the wife he never knew he needed.
Iโm totally down to see what becomes of this mail-order-bride situation!
I havenโt delved into that many Western romance books so this one looks to be a good one to start with.
You & I Rewritten
by Chip Pons
A MM Romance
Releasing August 23
After accepting a dream promotion at one of New York Cityโs most renowned publishing houses and moving in with his oldest friend, Will Cowen is ready to dive headfirst into this new chapter and take the literary world by storm โ that is, until he crosses paths with Graham Austin.
No matter how hard he tries, he canโt help but put the wrong foot forward in front of the all-business and inconveniently gorgeous heir to the publishing empire.
So, when a heartbreakingly beautiful manuscript lands on his desk, Will seizes the opportunity for a win.
Could this prized new author be his big break or his downfall?
At the moment Willโs confidence and hope for his professional future is obliterated, the normally cold and distant Graham steps in.
This small glimpse behind Grahamโs icy exterior is the spark that sweeps these two up in an epic and unforeseen romance.
It doesnโt take much for me to sweep up a romance book that has to do with an author or the publishing world. I love it when authors write about their own craft!
This will be my first book by Pons and Iโm so game.
Darn Knit All
by Evie Mitchell
A Contemporary Romance
Releasing August 25
Looks like this new release will be Maeโs story but the full blurb is to come.
Mitchell totally hooked me onto her All Access series that features heroines with various health conditions that they donโt let define their lives or personalities.
You wonโt be disappointed in checking out this one and Maeโs friendsโ books in the previous two in the series.
