The Best Romance Audiobooks That Are Worth a Listen
People We Meet on Vacation
by Emily Henry
Narrator Julia Whelan
Poppy and Alex. Alex and Poppy. They have nothing in common. Sheโs a wild child; he wears khakis. She has insatiable wanderlust; he prefers to stay home with a book. And somehow, ever since a fateful car share home from college many years ago, they are the very best of friends.
For most of the year they live far apartโsheโs in New York City, and heโs in their small hometownโbut every summer, for a decade, they have taken one glorious week of vacation together.
ย
Until two years ago, when they ruined everything. They haven’t spoken since.
ย
Poppy has everything she should want, but sheโs stuck in a rut. When someone asks when she was last truly happy, she knows, without a doubt, it was on that ill-fated, final trip with Alex. And so, she decides to convince her best friend to take one more vacation togetherโlay everything on the table, make it all right. Miraculously, he agrees.
ย
Now she has a week to fix everything. If only she can get around the one big truth that has always stood quietly in the middle of their seemingly perfect relationship. What could possibly go wrong?
Julia Whelan is a force in audiobooks and she nailed the narration for both Poppy and Alex in People We Meet on Vacation. Emily Henry penned the best banter between these two opposites and Whelanโs delivery of it is what makes this an incredible audiobook to listen to.
This book is one of my all-time favorite romance books but a โrereadโ with the audiobook made me fall even more in love with this friends to lovers romance and these adorable characters.

How to Tame a Wild Rogue
by Julie Anne Long
Narrator Justine Eyre
He clawed his way up from the gutters of St. Giles to the top of a shadowy empire. Feared and fearsome, battered and brilliant, nothing shocks Lorcan St. Legerโnot even the discovery of an aristocratic woman escaping out a window near the London docks on the eve of the storm of the decade.
They find shelter at a boarding house called the Grand Palace on the Thamesโonly to find greater dangers await inside.
Desperate, destitute, and jilted, Lady Daphne Worth knows the clock is ticking on her last chance to save herself and her family: an offer of a loveless marriage. But while the storm rages and roads flood, she and the rogue who rescued her must pose as husband and wife in order to share the only available suite.
Crackling enmity gives way to incendiary desireโand certain heartbreak: Lorcan is everything she never dreamed sheโd wanted, but he can never be what she needs.
But risk is childโs play to St. Leger. And if the stakes are a lifetime of loving and being loved by Daphne,ย heโll move any mountain, confront any old nemesis, to turn โneverโย into forever.
Julie Anne Long is an amazing historical romance author whose writing is exquisite. Thereโs no other way to describe it. Every sentence is like a masterpiece and her descriptions just beautiful so to hear her words delivered by audiobook is a treasure.
Justine Eyreโs voices and delivery in this romance audiobook is nothing short of extraordinary. Iโm not typically a fan of audiobooks but this book made me a believer of how amazing they can be.
I loved all the nuances of each characterโs voice which made them all distinct but it is her delivery of Daphne and Lorcan that made their chemistry feel so palpable. Itโs one not to miss!

The Kiss Quotient
by Hellen Hoang
Narrator Carly Robins
Stella Lane thinks math is the only thing that unites the universe. She comes up with algorithms to predict customer purchasesโa job that has given her more money than she knows what to do with, and way less experience in the dating department than the average thirty-year-old.
It doesn’t help that Stella has Asperger’s and French kissing reminds her of a shark getting its teeth cleaned by pilot fish. Her conclusion: she needs lots of practiceโwith a professional. Which is why she hires escort Michael Phan.
The Vietnamese and Swedish stunner can’t afford to turn down Stella’s offer, and agrees to help her check off all the boxes on her lesson planโfrom foreplay to more-than-missionary position…
Before long, Stella not only learns to appreciate his kisses, but crave all of the other things he’s making her feel. Their no-nonsense partnership starts making a strange kind of sense. And the pattern that emerges will convince Stella that love is the best kind of logic.
The Kiss Quotient may be the first romance audiobook to hook me on audio. I was blown away how Carly Robinsโs narration of Stellaโs dialogue really made me โseeโ her as a character.
I can only assume that Carly did her research into how to accurately portray a neurodivergent woman such as Stella because her delivery really made me fully understand and fall for this character.
This audiobook really showed me how much listening to a book can truly bring characters to life in such a unique way other than just in my head while reading.

Lovelight Farms
by B.K. Borison
Narrator Pippa Jayne
A pasture of failing trees. A hostile takeover of the Santa barn by a family of raccoons. And shipments that have mysteriously gone missing. Lovelight Farms is not the magical winter wonderland of Stella Bloomโs dreams.
In an effort to save the Christmas tree farm sheโs loved since she was a kid, Stella enters a contest with Instagram-famous influencer Evelyn St. James. With the added publicity and the $100,000 cash prize, Stella might just be able to save the farm from its financial woes.
Thereโs just one problem. To make the farm seem like a romantic destination for the holidays, she lied on her application and said she owns Lovelight Farms with her boyfriend. Onlyโฆthere is no boyfriend.
Enter best friend Luka Peters. He just stopped by for some hot chocolate and somehow got a farm and a serious girlfriend in the process. But fake dating his best friend might be the best Christmas present heโs ever received.
This is a romance audiobook that I could listen to over and over again any time of year. Though this is only told from Stellaโs point of view, I swooned every time I heard Lukaโs character call her Lala. It was just too sweet for words and completely sucked me into this friends to lovers romance.
Pippaโs narration drew me into this story from the very beginning and had me enjoying their fake relationship along the way when you knew their feelings were so much more.

Summer Romance
by Annabel Monaghan
Narrator Kristen DiMercurio
Ali Morris is a professional organizer whose own life is a mess. Her mom passed away two years ago, then her husband left, and she hasnโt worn pants with a zipper in longer than she cares to remember.
No one is more surprised than Ali when the first time she takes off her wedding ring and puts on pants with hardwareโoveralls count, right?โshe meets someone. Or rather, her dog claims a man for her…by peeing on him.
Ethan smiles at Ali like her pants are just rightโlike he likes what he sees. He looks at her like sheโs a younger, braver version of herself. The last thing newly single mom Ali needs is to make her life messier, but thereโs no harm in a little summer romance. Is there?
Sometimes I get so nervous listening to a new book that I have high expectations for in fear that I wonโt like the narration but Kristen DiMercurio totally rocked this hotly anticipated summer romance.
She made me feel for Ali and her predicaments and fall so hard for Ethan. I only wish that I was listening to it while walking along the beach to make it the perfect listening experience.

Outlander
by Diana Gabaldon
Narrator Davina Porter
Scottish Highlands, 1945. Claire Randall, a former British combat nurse, is just back from the war and reunited with her husband on a second honeymoon when she walks through a standing stone in one of the ancient circles that dot the British Isles.
Suddenly she is a Sassenachโan โoutlanderโโin a Scotland torn by war and raiding clans in the year of Our Lord . . . 1743.
Claire is catapulted into the intrigues of a world that threatens her life, and may shatter her heart. Marooned amid danger, passion, and violence, Claire learns her only chance of safety lies in Jamie Fraser, a gallant young Scots warrior.
What begins in compulsion becomes urgent need, and Claire finds herself torn between two very different men, in two irreconcilable lives.
Trust me when I say you are going to just sink into the entire Outlander series once you start listening to Davina Porter. Her voice is almost hypnotic with the best accent to imagine yourself in the Scottish Highlands with and English Sassenach.
Itโs a good thing too that her voice is perfect for this series because if you thought the books were long, just imagine thirty-two or even forty-five hours of listening pleasure for these audiobooks. You will be immersed in Claire and Jamieโs world for days and that is a wonderful thing!

Always Only You
by Chloe Liese
Narrator Nelson Hobbs & CJ Bloom
Ren has known Frankie Zeferino was a woman worth waiting for since the moment they met. Sheโs a master of deadpan delivery, has a secret heart of gold, and a rare one-dimpled smile that makes his knees go weak. But as long as Frankieโs the teamโs social media manager, sheโs off limits.
Frankie is a self-admittedly blunt, grumbly grump, but even she isnโt immune to sunshiney Ren Bergman. Who could be, when heโs a six-foot-three hunk of happy with a hockey playerโs physique?
Maybe in the past, Frankie would have gone for a guy like him, but since being burned too many times by people who learn about her diagnoses and see a problem, not a person, sheโs wised up.
After waiting years for the right time to make his move, Ren learns Frankie plans to leave the team to pursue a new career. But what he didnโt anticipate is how hard heโll have to work to convince her to let him have his shot at winning her heart.
Sometimes dual narration just hits the spot and Nelson Hobbs and CJ Bloom are wonderful in bringing Ren and Frankie to life. Ren is such a sweet cinnamon roll of a hero that Nelson captures perfecting and CJ brings the snark for Frankie.
Itโs a great mix for this office romance where the hockey player and social media manager finally admit their feelings for one another.

The Long Game
by Rachel Reid
Narrator Cooper North
Ten years. Thatโs how long Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov have been seeing each other. How long theyโve been keeping their relationship a secret. From friends, from familyโฆfrom the league.
If Shane wants to stay at the top of his game, what he and Ilya shareย hasย to remain secret. He loves Ilya, but what if going public ruins everything?
Ilya is sick of secrets. Shane has gotten so good at hiding his feelings, sometimes Ilya questions if they even exist. The closeness, the intimacy, even the risk that would come with being open about their relationshipโฆIlya wants it all.
Itโs time for them to decide whatโs most importantโhockey or love. Itโs time to make a call.
I absolutely loved Heated Rivalry, the MM enemies to lovers romance where Ilya and Shane first fall in love, but it was magic to hear their story continue in this audiobook. Cooper North excels had the different voices for Shane, Ilya and their teammates but itโs his accent for Ilya that I loved.
Plus, I felt like listening to the audiobook really helped me to understand Ilyaโs struggle with depression and his growing feelings of frustration for having to keep their relationship secret all these years.
I didnโt think I could love that man any more than I did but this audiobook made it possible.

A Thousand Boy Kisses
by Tillie Cole
Narrators P.J. Ochlan & Katie Schorr
One kiss lasts a moment. But a thousand kisses can last a lifetime.
One boy. One girl. A bond that is forged in an instant and cherished for a decade. A bond that neither time nor distance can break. A bond that will last forever. Or so they believe.
When seventeen-year-old Rune Kristiansen returns from his native Norway to the sleepy town of Blossom Grove, Georgia, where he befriended Poppy Litchfield as a child, he has just one thing on his mind.
Why did the girl who was one half of his soul, who promised to wait faithfully for his return, cut him off without a word of explanation?
Runeโs heart was broken two years ago when Poppy fell silent. When he discovers the truth, he finds that the greatest heartache is yet to come.
I loved the dual narration of A Thousand Boy Kisses. P.J. is known for his mastery of accents so I liked how he voiced Rune who came from Norway.
Plus, thereโs just something about how narrators can convey such deep emotion through their delivery of the words that makes a book hit home even harder. This book made me full on ugly cry and the narration only made me feel both characterโs heartache more.
