Change of Hart Summary:
Wells Canyon is the last place Blair Hart wants to be. Yet when her mother falls ill, she has no choice except to return to the hometown sheโs avoided for over a decade. In a town this small, she knows thereโs no way she can avoid the cowboy who tore her life to pieces all those years ago, but that doesnโt mean sheโs prepared for the way Denver Wells can turn back time with a single smile.
Since Denverโs world came crashing down thirteen years ago, heโs somehow managed to keep his demons at bay . . . that is, until Blair Hartโs return knocks him from his saddle. But if he wants her back, heโll have to prove he can be the man she needsโthe same one she used to love.
Throwing herself into the role of caregiver, Blair doesnโt have the time to sift through their messy history even if she wanted to. And Denverโs going to need a lot more than his usual cowboy charm to convince Blair heโs worth a change of heart.
Change of Hart: My Review
If you are in your cowboy romance era then you MUST meet the cowboys of Wells Ranch, and Denver might be my favorite!
Change of Hart is book three in Hannahโs Wells Ranch series but can easily be read as a standalone if you want to dive right in to Denver and Blairโs story. While Iโve read the first two books and enjoyed them, Denver has taken top prize as my favorite cowboy of the series so far.
This book will be catnip for readers who love childhood friends to lovers. Denver and Blair basically find their soulmates at the age of twelve and while it broke my heart that they spent so many years a part, Iโm so glad that they were able to find their way back to one another without a lot of drama.
Honestly, all it took was Blair to move back to her hometown fourteen years after leaving it for them to finally right their wrongs and get back together. It was really refreshing for their not to be much drama impacting their reunion or decision to get back together considering the reason that broke them in the first place.
Because it was a simple reunion while Blair had to work through her trust issues, I really enjoyed the chapters that shared how their friendship and then love developed over time in the past. By the time you get to the past time period where they were eighteen and falling apart, it was gut-wrenching given what was happening at that time in both of their lives as you knew they were soulmates destined to be together.
I loved that Blair voiced her sadness and hurt that Denny had become such a playboy and that they had their 5 minutes of honesty that gave each the place to share their feelings.
This year seems to be the year of romance books that have dementia has a side theme and this book is one of them. It didnโt overwhelm their love story, but was the impetus to her moving home and was a good side story to show how Denny was really trying to show that he could be there for her.
And if you love steamy romance books, Hannah does not hold back in her books. These two get it on in quite a few scenes which were H-O-T hot!
What I loved most is how Denny could be a man who owns his past, can apologize and will do anything for his woman. I also love how Blair didnโt lose sight of her own goals and dreams as a young teen and despite being alone in her decisions, stuck to them.
Can we also give a shout out to the cover designer for this series! Whoever it is has knocked it out of the park with every one. Perfection for these cowboy romances ๐.
