Fan Service Summary:
The only place small-town outcast Alex Lawson fits in is the online fan forum she built forย Theย Arcane Files, a long-running werewolf detective show. Her dedication to archiving fictional supernatural lore made her Internet-famous, even if she harbors a secret disdain for the showโs star, Devin Ashwood. (Never meet your heroesโsometimes they turn out to be The Worst.)
Ever since his show went off the air, Devin and his career have spiraled, but waking up naked in the woods outside his LA home with no memory of the night before is a new low. It must have been a coincidence that the once-in-a-century Wolf Blood Moon crested last night.
The claws, fangs, and howling are a little more difficult to explain away. Desperate for answers, Devin finds Alexโthe closest thing to an expert that exists. If only he could convince her to stop hating his guts long enough to help….
Once he makes her an offer she canโt refuse, these reluctant allies lower their guards trying to wrangle his inner beast. Unfortunately, getting up close and personal quickly comes back to bite them.
Fan Service: My Review
Such a cute romance book storyline to meet my werewolf fix!
I was so excited to jump into this fun romcom because who am I to turn down a werewolf romance with a twist? Move over dragons, Iโm in my werewolf era!
Right from the start I was engaged with the plotline. Hollywood has-been actor who played a werewolf on TV actually turns into a werewolf? Love it. Plus, he needs the help of the woman who ran his showโs fandom web site? Love it even more.
This book started with a great hook when Devin and Alex first meet. My heart broke for her but it gave a good backstory to why she holds herself back from people and the relationships in her life and how that would impact her reunion with Devin.
Devin on the other hand was this 42 year old manchild who never really seemed to grow up. My heart broke for him as well given how he was raised by his parents and was always looking to be loved and accepted. I wish his story arc had a bit more redemption but he kept fumbling over his interactions with Alex and would say the stupidest, hurtful things in his naivite that it was hard to really fall for the guy.
The whole, he turned into a werewolf now whatโs he to do storyline was fun including how Rosie weaved in aspects from his show to help him learn to rein in his inner wolf. Anyone obsessed with a show fandom will enjoy that aspect.
If the paranormal aspect to the book is holding you back, donโt sweat it. I felt like the book read more like a contemporary romcom than anything.
Overall, I really liked Alex, tolerated Devin and thought it was a fun read but found the ending a bit disappointing. But the cover- STUNNING! The artist knocked it out of the park for this one. I LOVE IT!
