The 2023 Romance Book Reading Challenge
Read 12 Books in One Year!
The goal with this reading challenge is to read ONE romance book each month, for a total of 12 romance books for the year.
I always keep things simple with this challenge, but this year I’m keeping it super simple with this year’s reading challenge theme.
We are going to stick with the main categories of the romance genre (with some fun categories too!).
This will let you take each month’s theme in whatever direction you choose and with whatever romance trope you choose.
The goal is always to encourage readers to explore the wide variety within the romance book genre.
But, as always, if you find you don’t care for a particular month’s theme, no problem. Just change it up!

Local Library
As far as getting your selection, I’m all about reserving books at my local library to save some cash so my first suggestion is to check your library first and even reserve some titles for the upcoming months ahead of time!
Kindle Unlimited and/or Audible
Another great option is to grab a subscription to Kindle Unlimited or Audible if you’re an audiobook fan.
Kindle Unlimited is FULL of great romance book titles and you can’t beat the price for a monthly membership though I’m always snagging multi-month deals!
Black Friday is a great time to look out for membership deals to either Kindle Unlimited or Audible so you’re set and ready for the challenge in the new year.
Romance Book Subscriptions!
Another option for finding great romance books that I LOVE is a romance book subscription box.
There are so many options depending on your favorite category of romance and budget.
