If you’re ready to get reading in 2021 then I’m here to help with the 2021 Romance Book Reading Challenge.
Last year was the first year I ran a reading challenge and it was a blast!
Prior to that I had only participated in the Goodreads reading challenge where I set my own goal for how many books I wanted to read during the year.
But rather than just set a goal for the number of books to read, I wanted to change things up a bit and create a reading challenge dedicated to romance books.
So, if you are a die-hard romance book reader or maybe someone who’d like to check out this popular genre, then you’re in the right place.
What’s This Year’s Reading Challenge?
Are you ready to read some romance books this year?
I’m all about keeping things simple, easy and fun and that’s the driving force behind this year’s reading challenge.
Over the course of the year, we will be reading ONE romance book each month, for a total of 12 romance books for the year.
Each month the theme of the reading challenge will focus on a different romance book sub-genre or trope so that we will read a wide variety in the genre throughout the year.
And if you aren’t a fan of a month’s theme, then switch it up! Definitely feel free to make this your own.
It is my goal to help readers dive deep into this genre and explore all that it has to offer, while even discovering new authors they may not have read before.
2021 Romance Book Reading Challenge Themes
This year’s themes are also different from 2020’s romance book reading challenge themes with a few exceptions.
Of course, I had to keep erotic romance for February and holiday romance for December.
Plus I’m a huge fan of sports romance so those three topics will continue in this year’s challenge, but they are the only repeats from last year’s romance book reading challenge.
This Year’s Romance Book Reading Challenge Themes:
January – Best of 2020 Romance Book
February – Erotic Romance
March – Fantasy Romance
April – Billionaire Romance
May – Sports Romance
June – Gay Romance
July – Summer Romance
August – Friends to Lovers Romance
September – Teacher Student Romance
October – Paranormal Romance
November – Goodreads Awards Nominee/Winner
December – Holiday Romance
Sound like fun? Who’s with me? Let’s rock this reading challenge!
Monthly Reading Challenges
I’ve definitely seen reading challenges that kick things up a notch by reading one book each week, but I don’t want readers intimidated right out of the gate.
While I probably read at least 2 or more books a week, not everyone can or wants to read that often and I want every reader to feel like they can participate and find success in my romance book reading challenge.
However, if you are a romance book junkie like me and definitely want to turn up the challenge, then the monthly reading challenges will be for you.
I recognize that some months you may have more time for reading or perhaps that month’s theme is a romance book trope you absolutely love so reading one book just won’t be enough.
The monthly reading challenges give you more options to step up your reading challenge with additional book selection topics to further explore the sub-genre or trope.
Check out the monthly challenge options below to see what is in store.
Why a Reading Challenge?
If the recent year has taught me anything, it’s that I love escaping into a romance book when life gets to be a bit too much.
For me, life really is better with a love story and if I can help one more person find joy and happiness while reading a romance book this year then my year will be complete.
My goals for this year’s reading challenge are for it to be a lot of fun and to help readers discover great romance books worth reading.
