Still Into You Summary:
Sloane Donavan dreamed of being a rock journalist ever since she posted her first MySpace blog. Now, one journalism degree, a failed internship, and dozens of backstage passes later, sheโs struggling to land a full-time staff position. So when punk rockโs most notorious and elusive frontman offers her his first interview in eight years, Sloane should be jumping at the opportunityโbut taking it would mean reconnecting with the only guy sheโs ever loved (and lost), Dax Nakamura.
Unable to pass up a shot at making her nameโand helping Dax clear the reputation thatโs plagued hisโSloane agrees. Itโs only a conflict of interest if anyone finds out. But the article Dax wants and the salacious tell-all Sloaneโs editor is expecting are two completely different stories. And as old feelings resurface, Sloaneโs journalistic integrity hangs in the balance. This is the career-making piece sheโs been waiting for, but it comes with a price: the chance to rewrite the ending with her first and only love.
Still Into You: My Review
Erin Connor made me remember what it feels like to fall hard for a rock star romance. I wanted to dive right into the pages and be front row at these metalcore concerts and just become one with the music to soak it all in.
Iโve found a new romance author to love and itโs Erin Connor because I devoured this entire second chance romance between a metalcore rock star and a freelance, rock star journalist. There is just something refreshing and unique about Erinโs storytelling that made me read this in one sitting. Rock star romances can all sound the same after awhile but I felt like Erin gives a unique storyline to this one (similar vibes to Drive by Kate Stewart but without the love triangle). I love her writing style, her voice and the pacing of this book made it all come together.
Metalcore rock is definitely not my jam, and yet I wanted to stand in front of the sound booth/tent at every concert and venue alongside Sloane in this romance to soak up Daxโs and Final Revelationsโ sound. Thank god I found Erinโs playlists on Spotify because I was dying to hear the vibe of Daxโs music while reading this.
This book is definitely for those who love a great second chance romance or glamorize what itโd be like falling for a rock star. Itโs been three years since Dax and Sloane said goodbye after their one month together because Sloane had promised herself (and her brothers) that she would never put a partner above her career and lose that side of herself like her mother. But her career has not taken off as she has hoped and she is now presented with an opportunity that could put her on the map (and have her pick of job offers). The catch โ she has to interview her ex and his band.
The tension and chemistry between Sloane and Dax was palpable so this will be catnip for anyone who loves two soulmates who finally find themselves back together. There is a lot for both Sloane and Dax to work through for them to finally accept their fate but Erin weaves in their backstories with the push-pull of the present in such a perfect way that captivates you throughout the entire story.
Plus, the representation in this story is also A+ and the cover is perfection. I highly recommend it!
