Madden Donahue, the newest catcher for the Yankees, has been in love with Eve Mitchell since high school, but for some mysterious reason, the burlesque club owner always turns him down. That never stopped him from being her self-appointed protector. Case in point, now that Eve’s sister has left Eve with her two children indefinitely, Madden steps in with a proposition—marry him for the much needed health benefits.

Eve has secretly harbored feelings for Madden all along, but there’s one problem—her best friend Skylar called dibs on him when they were fourteen. Eve has always put their friendship above all else, and she’s not willing to risk losing Skylar over a man. Raised by the local strip club owner, Eve is woefully short on friends and treasures the ones she has. But with Skylar happily paired off, Eve finds herself accepting Madden’s proposal—on the condition that their marriage remains strictly private. She’s not about to let her unique profession and maligned reputation destroy Madden’s shiny new career.

Madden won’t let Eve get away that easily, though. What starts as a marriage of convenience soon ignites into something much hotter, and now it’s up to Madden to convince Eve that their connection is far more than a business arrangement. As the passion builds, can their fake marriage become the real deal?

Catch Her If You Can: My Review

Tessa Bailey has over 60 books published and she is STILL knocking it out of the park each and every time with something new, fresh and delightfully steamy!

I’ve been devouring her Big Shots series with each book just as good as the previous in the series and Catch Her If You Can is just as fabulous.

I was already desperate for Catch Her If You Can after reading Pitcher Perfect. And while I do think this can be read as a standalone, the tension between Madden and Eve was already stoked pretty high for me before diving into this one having read Pitcher Perfect, so I recommend reading Pitcher Perfect first for the best experience (plus it’s one of my favorites of 2025 so why wouldn’t you?!).

While the Big Shots books have been incredible romcoms so far, Catch Her If You Can really grabbed onto my heart, making it a more emotional read for me. This book totally hinged on the tension and chemistry between Madden and Eve who have loved each other from afar for SO long and they are finally getting their chance to be together. And boy was the tension palpable!

But this tension wasn’t just intense chemistry where I was waiting for the steam to erupt. This tension had so much more emotion and depth and yearning to it that I was eating up in every chapter.

Tessa did such an amazing job in really showing the connection between Madden and Eve without having to tell us and that right there is what makes her an author a cut above the rest. I knew that these two were soulmates just from the prologue for goodness sakes and the difficulties that they each had to face until they could finally give in to what their hearts always wanted was just everything.

This could have been a straightforward marriage of convenience story, but Tessa weaved in some unique backstories for both of these characters and side stories that made this a fresh and full love story.

I loved the burlesque venue and Full Bush Rhonda (where can I see someone like her perform? 😊). I LOVED Elton and Veda’s budding romance. Eve’s niece and nephews were adorable, and I could not get enough of how much Madden showed up for Eve and would not let her get away.

My heart is so full after reading this. I highly recommend and love Tessa for writing it! I never want this series to end.

(My only gripe is that Eve’s doctor gives her antibiotics for the kids’ flu?! No! You don’t take antibiotics for a virus…but I’ll let it slide since its fiction).
