YES! Dean’s story is finally here and let me tell you it didn’t disappoint.
If you’ve read any of Daws’ other books in the Wait with Me series you’ve already met Dean and probably fell for him as I did.
If you’re new to this series, not to fear, as this book can easily be read as a standalone and you’ll fall Dean just as hard.
Norah is this rock star baker who is the queen of croinuts. And let me just warn you right now, you are going to be craving donuts while reading this entire book.
I seriously wanted to go out and find a donut shop as awesome as hers to taste anything resembling the morsels she was creating.
So you’ve been warned- have a pastry at the ready when reading this book.
But back to Norah…she’s an awesome baker who’s super focused on her career and taking the baking world by storm.
What she’s NOT focused on in the slightest is her love life, much to her mother’s disappointment.
I’m sure many women can commiserate with Norah who has to deal with constant comments from her mom, a feeling of lack of support and understanding from her and the pushy set ups to meet “the appropriate” partner.
When pushed too far she propositions Dean, the silent investor in her new bakery and weekly croinut customer, to be her fake date to her parent’s anniversary party.
He accepts because he too needs a fake partner to get his girl friends off his back.
And yet leading up to their bargain, Daws’ gives us the best flirting as foreplay between these two. I’m seriously a sucker for awesome flirting and witty banter and these two had that in spades.
I have to say Norah is a woman after my own heart with her to do lists and pro/con charts.
The best part of this story was seeing Norah and Dean letting themselves see what they’ve been missing. With Norah – it was living a life of all work and no play.
With Dean – it was settling for fluff hookups and steering clear of relationships.
Of course as with all fake relationship stories in romance, the best part is watching the couple fall for each other when they think they’re keeping their feelings in check.
Characters from the other books in the series all make an appearance – so you’ll get Kate and her no filter mouth and sweet Lynsey trying to help Dean’s love life. But again, this can easily be read as a standalone.
If anything, I see a book for Max in the future!
I swear I could read an Amy Daws novel every single week if only she published that fast.
I find her work to be not only well written and hilarious but also full of great story lines and characters I’d honestly like to meet in person.
I highly recommend reading this book and if you haven’t already, follow it up with the rest of the Wait for Me series.
*Thank you Amy Daws for the advanced reader copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
