Honeymoon Phase Summary:
When Addison โRoeโ Monroe tells me sheโs going on a husband hunt at the local lumberjack competition so she can inherit her fatherโs lumberyard, desperate times call for desperate measures.
Sheโs sworn off romance. Says sheโs been through enough tragedy. So I offer myself as an alternative, ’cause thatโs what best friends are for. But my stubborn friend, who would rather drive a forklift than get her nails done, refuses to accept my help, and now I find myself training to become a lumberjack.
I refuse to let Roe hitch her wagon to some hulking ax wielder who might be a crazy person. She means too much to me. And I swear there are moments where she looks at me like I mean something more to her, too.
On the surface, Iโm offering a marriage of convenience to protect her. But the truth isโฆIโm hopelessly in love with my best friend.
So if I have to marry her and move her up to Fletcher Mountain just to see if she could love me back, so be it. Because my only regret would be losing her forever, and thatโs a fact.
Honeymoon Phase: My Review
Amy Daws continues to blow me away with her Mountain Men Matchmaker series. Honeymoon Phase is one of my most anticipated November 2025 new romance book releases and it did not disappoint.
If only there were more brothers so this series didnโt end (we need seven brothers like the movie Seven Brothers for Seven Brides!) but thank god we still have Everlyโs story to look forward to next.
If you love friends to lovers romance then this is the book for you. Luke and Roe have been friends for years despite Luke loving her in secret. When she announces that sheโs going to marry a lumberjack so that she can inherit her familyโs lumberyard Luke puts his name in the mix โ or I should say enters into the local lumberjack competition so that Roe realizes just how serious he is about being the guy she calls husband.
I thought the lumberjack competition was a great addition to the story that didnโt overtake it since the rest of the story is about Luke trying to make Roe fall in love with him after they say โI do.โ
What ensues is a heartfelt romance that includes:
- Everlyโs scheming ways,
- Hilarious references to Lukeโs cock (aka his rooster pet)
- Emotional moments about Luke and Roeโs respective grief
- A found family that easily enfolds Roe, and so much more.
This book brings together Amyโs amazing writing, her signature banter and an emotional romance that I thoroughly enjoyed. The scene where Luke puts his heart on the line had me bawling my eyes out yโall!
And can we give a shoutout to the cover designer for this series? Each one is AMAZING.
While you could probably read this as a standalone, it would be a richer experience if you read the previous two books in the series, Nine Month Contract and Seven Year Itch which are just as phenomenal. And now Iโm anxiously awaiting Bad Boy Era, which is one of my most anticipated new romance books of 2026!
*I received an advanced reader copy. All opinions are my own.
