Madden-Mills sures knows how to write college romances that sock you right in the heart.
I loved this take on an enemies to lovers love story where the hero is โthe enemyโ because heโs trying so hard to deny and ignore his feelings. Oh, but it gave me all the feelings!
The Revenge Pact is the first book in a three-part series, Kings of Football, written by three amazing authors.
If this book has any say on how the rest of the series will go, itโs going to be a good one!
This book series follows three football players coming off a craptastic football season. So they arenโt in the thick of playing football in season. But I guess this gives them more time to figure out their love lives!
I love when a romance book makes me think and contemplate what I would do in a given situation.
River Tate has been a master of deflection the last year, every since he met Anastasia. Heโs consumed by her beauty AND her inner essence but he canโt touch, and wonโt even let himself look because sheโs dating his fraternity brother.
I could feel his constant struggle, knowing that he loved her, knowing that her boyfriend wasnโt the man for her, and knowing that he couldnโt betray his friendship.
Lesser men would and have put their own desires and needs first before others, but not River.
โIโm always waiting.โ
Of course, when Anastasiaโs life implodes and decides to make a revenge pact, he still wants to be the better man!
I really liked where Madden-Mills took this character, showcasing his own struggles with ADHD and other learning differences as well as his need to be an upstanding friend.
The little nuances that she threw in where like little gems to enjoy throughout the book โ his positive outlook on finding three things good to focus on is something EVERYONE should do! Plus his dreamโฆit gave me chills.
Anastasia was a great character in her own right. I loved how she realizes that itโs not only how a person acts but how a person truly sees you that is important.
And never has a meet cute ever devastated me as much as the one in this book!
Iโm a big Madden-Mills fan without a doubt, but itโs because her books are so deserving of the praise.
I highly recommend this new adult romance.
