I’m always a sucker for a romance movie, but there’s just something special about watching a Christmas romance movie during the holidays that makes me feel all warm and cozy 😊.
But every year starting in November (or maybe even in October!) I drive myself crazy trying to remember which Christmas romance movies I love to watch and end up scrolling forever through Prime Video, Netflix, or the Hallmark channel to refresh my memory.
Well, now I’m saving myself (and you!) the trouble by listing all of the best Christmas romance movies worth watching so that I can refer back to it each and every year.
So grab your popcorn and hot chocolate and get ready to snuggle up with a Christmas romance movie or two or three…

My Favorite Christmas Romance Movies
Love Actually
Love Actually is an iconic Christmas romcom that weaves together the stories of multiple Londoners in the weeks leading up to Christmas. From the Prime Minister falling for a staff member, to Sarah falling for her coworker and Mark silently pining for his best friend’s new wife, this Christmas romance movie explores the joys and complexities of love during the holiday season.
I’m not sure if I love Kiera Knightly’s character’s story best or Hugh Grant’s!
Holidate
Sloane and Jackson hate celebrating the holidays with their families and being judged for their status as singles. When they meet by chance, they decide to be each other’s dates to keep their loved ones off their backs.
Emma Roberts has become such a force when it comes to holiday romcoms and I thought Holidate was super cute and super funny in parts!
The Holiday
Amanda and Iris both just had their heart broken and decide to switch houses this holiday season, as to not mope around by themselves. When the American and the Brit start living in each other’s places, they meet new people and find themselves less than alone after all.
I never tire of watching this classic Christmas romance movie with such star power. Kate Winslet and Jack Black along with Eli Wallach are my favorites!
Single All the Way
To get his family off his back, Peter asks his best friend Nick to come home with him for the holidays and to be his pretend boyfriend.
Fake relationship romances are so much fun and make the best Christmas romance movies. I adored Michael Urie in this film.
The Noel Diary
When an author starts clearing out his parent’s house at Christmas, he meets a woman who is searching for her birth-mother. Will an old diary unlock their pasts — and hearts?
I love when romance books are made into movies, and this sweet Christmas romance movie is based on the book by Richard Paul Evans.
The Family Stone
The outgoing and eccentric Stone family unites in common cause when their favorite son brings home his uptight and reserved girlfriend to meet the family at Christmas.
The entire ensemble cast was phenomenal in this Christmas romance that demonstrates the love and chaos that surrounds so many family gatherings at the holidays.
Last Christmas
Kate tends to make wrong decisions in her life, but then she takes on a job as an Elf for a department store’s Holiday display. There, she meets Tom, who slowly but surely starts changing her life.
Emilia Clarke is adorable, but as an elf even cuter!
Something From Tiffany’s
Life – like love – is full of surprises and unexpected gifts. An engagement ring meant for somebody else, leads Rachel to the person, who is meant for her.
Based on the book by Melissa Hill, this Prime original explores how fate can help find the one you’re meant to be with.
A Princess for Christmas
At the invitation of an estranged relative, a young woman travels with her niece and nephew to a castle in Europe for Christmas, where she unwittingly falls for a dashing Prince.
Long before Outlander, Sam Heugh started stealing hearts with this Christmas romance movie where he plays the dashing prince.
Four Christmases
A couple tries to fit in four Christmas celebrations with their divorced parents into one day. Along the way, they discover things about each other, they didn’t know before.
This Christmas romance is a must for anyone with divorced families. I love the snark and banter between Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon and how their characters are now trapped in visiting all of their family members when their flight to Fiji is canceled.
Tune in for some great laughs and heartfelt moments.
Serendipity
One Christmas while shopping at Bloomingdales in New York City, Jonathan Trager and Sara Thomas have an instant connection and end up spending a few precious hours together, never exchanging names, leaving it up to fate if they are ever to find each other again.
This is one of my favorite romance movies and such a fun one to re-watch over the holidays because I love the sense of fate and little moments that finally bring these two back together.
There’s also just something about a romcom with John Cusack that never disappoints!
The Trouble With Mistletoe
When San Francisco pet shop owner Willa Davis encounters the man who stood her up in high school, she fights both her head and her heart when she starts falling for him all over again ten years later.
If you love romance movies then you need to check out Passionflix which is devoted to adapting popular romance books into movies and TV series.
The Trouble With Mistletoe is one of my favorite Jill Shalvis romance books and a sweet Christmas romance movie where the girl finally gets her crush.
Love Hard
After meeting her perfect match on a dating app, an LA writer learns she’s been catfished when she flies 3,000 miles to surprise him for Christmas.
This Christmas romance movie is super cute and proves that you should always just be yourself.
Falling for Christmas
When champion figure skater Claire becomes injured she is sent to a rehabilitation center in the snowy mountains where she meets and falls for a local ice fisherman who shows her there is more to life than competition.
As a fan of romcom, The Cutting Edge, this is a must-watch Christmas romance movie since it’s giving me similar ice skating and hockey vibes!
The Spirit of Christmas
Twelve days before Christmas, Kate is trying to close the sale of a historic inn, only to find Daniel, the ghost of a man who died a century ago, and he needs her help to unravel the mystery of his annual holiday haunting.
If you want to mix your holiday romance viewing with some paranormal romance then this is the movie for you. But only watch it if you love ghosts!
A Royal Christmas
Prince Leopold of Cordinia, wants to marry the love of his life, who happens to be a seamstress from Philadelphia. His mother, Queen Isadora, has different plans for her son’s future.
Lacey Chabert is becoming the face of many Hallmark romance movies including this Christmas romance. But I loved seeing Jane Seymour as the Queen.
Operation Christmas Drop
Congressional aide Erica forgoes family Christmas to travel at her boss’s behest. At a beachside Air Force base, she clashes with Capt. Andrew Jantz, who knows her assignment is finding reasons to defund the facility.
This Christmas romance movie is an adorable, heartwarming, and diverse romance that pits a grumpy Congressional aide with a fun-loving Captain. You’ll totally fall for Andrew and his big heart in this one, just like Erica!
The Holiday Calendar
A struggling but talented photographer inherits an antique holiday advent calendar, the contents of which seem to predict the future. Will this magical calendar lead her to love this holiday season?
This is another Christmas romance movie on Netflix starring Kat Graham only this time she’s got her hands on a magical advent calendar.
Check it out if you love friends to lovers romance and a bit of holiday magic.
A Christmas Prince
A young reporter pretends to be a tutor, in order to get close to a prince she is supposed to report on. Soon, she finds herself in the middle of the royal family and realizes that the prince’s playboy image is more fiction than fact. Will she be able to keep her cover from being blown?
There’s just something about a Christmas romance movie about royalty as the topic has been done over and over again but this movie has become a favorite as two follow-up movies came after. You can binge-watch this with A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding and A Christmas Prince: The Royal Baby if you love royal romance.
The Princess Switch
At a Christmas competition in Belgravia, a young baker from Chicago meets the prince’s fiancée. Since the two look exactly alike, they decide to switch places for a couple of days.
The Princess Switch is another Netflix royal Christmas romance movie that you can binge watch along with its follow-up movies. Plus, if you love Vanessa Hudgens you can see not one but two of her in this one!
12 Dates of Christmas
A story that follows Kate, a young woman who after a horrible blind date on Christmas Eve, wakes up to find she is re-living that same day and date all over again.
Check out this Christmas romance romcom if you’re in the mood for something funny that reminds you of the movie, Groundhog Day.
Kate is resentful about where she’s ended up in life and hopes to reconnect with a past relationship but maybe she’s meant to be with the sweet widower instead.
Last Holiday
When a timid woman is diagnosed with an incurable illness, she decides to sell all of her possessions and starts living in a high class hotel in Europe.
Queen Latifah shines in this Christmas romance where her character ironically gets a new lease on life after receiving a terminal diagnosis.
I love the characters she meets along the way and her secret love for her co-worker.
Ghosts of Girlfriends Past
Connor is a proud womanizer. When he stays at a mansion to be in his brother’s wedding party, he is visited by ghosts of his former girlfriends.
This is such a fun romcom twist on A Christmas Carol with a star-studded cast including Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Garner. It’s a great, friends to lovers romance where it takes a visit from a few ghosts to see what’s right in front of you.
Bridget Jones’s Diary
Bridget Jones is ready to turn over a new leaf and turn her life around. To help meet her new resolution, she begins keeping a diary to chronicle her attempts to stop smoking, stop drinking, lose weight, and find her Mr. Right.
While this movie doesn’t focus solely on Christmas, it does culminate at the holidays so I couldn’t resist including it on this list.
This movie is such a classic as I love this book to movie adaptation of Helen Fielding’s contemporary reimagining of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. I especially love that Colin Firth plays Mark Darcy in this movie since he also played Darcy in the BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice!
While You Were Sleeping
Nursing a secret and hopeless crush on the handsome commuter who passes her booth every day, the charming loner and Chicago “L” ticket seller, Lucy, is about to have a second chance at love when she is mistaken for the commuter’s fiancé after he falls into a coma after being pushed onto the tracks.
This is another classic romcom that made me a Sandra Bullock fan for life. She is just so adorable in this film as she tries to deny her growing feelings for Jack. I loved how the loner got to spend the Christmas holiday with him and the whole Callaghan family.
