Secrets and Lies… Iโve lived the entirety of my life wrapped up in subterfuge for one purposeโrevenge.
Through the years, I lived more as an enigma than a man. For so long, I denied I had a beating heart of my own.
Until her.
Until she unearthed the starving vessel inside, forced me to acknowledge it, forced me to understand that Iโm capable of bleeding the same as any other.
For that, we paid. We’re still paying.
Yet, she demands it still, the useless heart of the ruthless thief and shameless villain she fell for. My fear is, Iโm no longer that man.
With the lies Iโve told, the life Iโve led, my mistakes are beginning to catch up with me, day by day, one by one.
This is my last chance, and I have no intention of losing her again, but as the deception of my past starts to unravel and close in, shedding my humanity may be the only thing that can save us both.
Maybe itโs already too late.
THIS BOOK. Hands down one of Stewartโs best and now one of my all-time favorite romance books!
I sometimes dread this moment after finishing a book that has consumed my heart and my mind and Iโm not quite sure how I can adequately put all of my feelings into words.
Iโll just start by saying that Kate Stewart is unlike any other. She has given me such a gift with this story and with this entire series.
I devoured Flock and Exodus and became totally wrapped up in the world she created and with the characters who became so real to me.
It was the most amazing duet to read.
But oh, I am so grateful that Stewart decided that the extended epilogue she had planned after Exodus was not going to be enough.
The Finish Line became its own book, the finale, that gives more and more and more to this amazing story.
I can say that itโs the most amazing second chance romance where the struggle to trust and love again is so real, honest and heartbreaking to see unfold but so completely worth it.
โNothing has, or could ever, compare to what she stirs inside of me.โ
Getting a different POV and the back story and history to the man I consider now to be one of my most favorite romance book boyfriends was everything I didnโt know that I was missing and that I didnโt know I was needing.
This book made me love this man, truly and completely, when I couldnโt initially because I had loved another first.
This is a story about the evolution of a modern-day king. A man who sacrificed and suffered only to finally realize he wasnโt living because he wasnโt whole without his queen by his side. And boy did his queen shine in this one.
This book gripped my heart and did not let go until the very last word was read.
After three books, Iโm still not sure that Iโm ready to leave these characters and this worldview but I am so incredibly grateful to have taken this epic journey with Stewart.
A Second Gift
I read romance books because I love how they make me feel โ love, heartache, devotion, devastation, the list goes on and on.
Itโs gifted authors like Stewart who make characters just jump off the page and make me feel right along with them.
But music also has this ability to evoke strong emotions and make me feel the words.
Kate Stewart gave me a second gift with her playlist for this novel. It is absolutely INCREDIBLE.
The songs fit the emotions of this story so perfectly and I cannot stop listening to it.
Do yourself a favor and listen to it. Itโs amazing.
You honestly have to go into this series a bit blind to enjoy it but trust me when I say itโs worth it.
I canโt recommend this book, this series and this playlist enough.
