Onyx Storm Summary:
After nearly eighteen months at Basgiath War College, Violet Sorrengail knows thereโs no more time for lessons. No more time for uncertainty. Because the battle has truly begun, and with enemies closing in from outside their walls and within their ranks, itโs impossible to know who to trust.
Now Violet must journey beyond the failing Aretian wards to seek allies from unfamiliar lands to stand with Navarre. The trip will test every bit of her wit, luck, and strength, but she will do anything to save what she lovesโher dragons, her family, her home, and him.
Even if it means keeping a secret so big, it could destroy everything. They need an army. They need power. They need magic. And they need the one thing only Violet can findโthe truth.
But a storm is coming…and not everyone can survive its wrath.
Onyx Storm My Review:
Yarros dazzles again with Onyx Storm that only has me wanting more!!
In case I didnโt love Xaden enough after reading the first two books in the Empyrean series, thereโs only more to love in Onyx Storm.
Oh, how I love this tortured hero who has even more demons to wrestle with in this book than he has in the previous books of the series. And yet, his devotion to Violet is steadfast and his love knows no bounds. He is TOP book boyfriend material and keeps grabbing more of my heart with each book.
If you think that Rebecca Yarros was just a one hit fantasy wonder, you are sorely mistaken. This woman can WRITE. Well, I always knew that but I am in awe of her fantasy writing skills. She has created such a unique world and setting for this series that keeps getting better and better.
When it comes to the third book in a five-book series, things can drag, but I was instantly hooked and glued to the page throughout this entire book. In fact, I had to read it much more slowly than my usual reading pace just so that I could soak everything in, understand where they were traveling and remember old and new names.
This book absolutely carried this fantasy romance series along with the overarching storyline as well as the love story between Violet and Xaden. I honestly loved it just as much as Fourth Wing and even more than Iron Flame.
I loved how we came to know more about Adarna and her kind, while still seeing her stark as a โteenageโ dragon.
Ridoc became a new favorite of mine as he provided some awesome comedic relief throughout this story.
I love how we continued to see how strong the bond is between Violet and her teammates, as well as her interesting relationships between her brother and sister.
But of course, itโs the relationship between Xaden and Violet that keeps me hooked most to this story. Yes, I want to see them defeat the venin but man are these two couple goals!
While the cliffhanger wasnโt as jaw dropping as in Iron Flame, I cannot wait to see what it leads to in book four.
Thank you Rebecca for such an amazing book. You deserve all the success and accolades!

I am still reading my way through this one. But I love her contemporary romances. She does know how to write a good story.
