December 2020 Romance Book Reading Challenge – Time to Get in the Holiday Spirit!

Can you believe that we are about to head into the LAST month of the Romance Book Reading Challenge for 2020? I honestly can’t believe it.

It’s been such a fun year of reading romance and I hope you’ve discovered a love for the genre with some great books and new authors to explore.

Even though we will be patting ourselves on the back for completing this year’s challenge soon, fear not because the 2021 Romance Book Reading Challenge is just around the corner.

After picking out your December challenge book, be sure to check out the 2021 Romance Book Reading Challenge to learn more about what’s in store and to sign up to grab your free printable to track your book selections.

I can’t wait to get started!

This month, to put a wrap on the 2020 reading challenge, we are taking on a very timely romance book sub-genre – holiday romance.

It’s definitely already beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and this year we could all use some extra holiday cheer, making this a perfect end to our challenge.

Holiday Romance – December’s Reading Challenge Theme

To participate in the December 2020 Romance Book Reading Challenge, all you have to do is pick one holiday romance book to read and you’ve done it!

There honestly is no shortage of holiday romance books to get you into the spirit of the season.

Many focus on the holiday Christmas, but if you don’t celebrate that holiday or wish to read a non specific holiday romance, a romance book set in winter would be a great choice too.

Want to Increase the Challenge?

If you’d like to take the Romance Book Reading Challenge up a notch this month or you really love this month’s theme, then you can tackle the December monthly romance book reading challenge.

For the December 2020 reading challenge, I’ve given you four categories for selecting additional holiday romance books to read.

December 2020 Romance Book Reading Challenge

If you’re up to reading more than one romance book this month, choose one book from each of these sub-categories of holiday romance:

  • Holiday Novella
  • Historical Holiday Romance
  • Contemporary Holiday Romance
  • Holiday Romance from a Favorite Author

Want Me to Pick a Holiday Romance Book for You?

To help you with your book selection for this month’s challenge, definitely check out my book list of Christmas Romance Books.

In it you’ll find my favorite Christmas romance books, 2020’s Christmas romance book releases, more holiday selections, Christmas novellas and anthologies!

If you’d like a holiday romance book recommendation, pick one of my favorites below.

My Favorite Holiday Romance Books:

The Boss Who Stole Christmas book cover

The Boss Who Stole Christmas
by Jana Aston

Holly Winter’s boss, Nick Saint-Croix, is a Scrooge. Too bad he doesn’t look like one too because then it would be easier to hate him. Even if he is hot, all Holly’s asking for this Christmas is a new boss.

I loved all of Jana Aston’s books in the Reindeer Falls series and this is the first.

It’s a short, quick read but still so satisfying with the perfect chemistry between Holly and Nick in an apparent, enemies to lovers romance.

The names are also just too perfect in this series! This is a must read Christmas romance book (and series!).

If you’re looking for something quick to read for this challenge, this should be your pick but fair warning that you’re going to want to read the next two books in the series.

Charming Co-Worker , is the latest contemporary romance book by author duo Jeannine Colette and Lauren Runow.

Charming Co-Worker
by Jeannine Colette and Lauren Runow

Katie’s wanted her boss for so long and this Christmas she’s going to get her man. She just needs a bit of help becoming a vixen this holiday to score her man’s attention.

Her co-worker, Hunter is more than willing to help her and proposes a fake relationship to make her boss jealous. But the more time she spends with Hunter, the more she realizes her boss may not be the man she wants after all.

I loved everything about this Christmas romance book. I especially loved the chemistry between Katie and Hunter which only grew stronger during their “fake” relationship.

Hunter is the perfect book boyfriend who truly notices the girl. All the little ways that he “got” Katie just made him stand out as the better man.

This book had it all – an exciting office romance, a sweet, fake relationship, and a wonderful storyline with many hilarious pun jokes! A must read for the holidays and perfect choice for this challenge.

Chasing Christmas Eve book cover

Chasing Christmas Eve
by Jill Shalvis

Colbie needs an escape. It’s time she flees her crazy family in New York and take time for herself -even if it’s only two weeks.

She didn’t plan on landing herself in a water fountain on her first day in San Francisco. But luckily Spencer is there to fish her out. She came for an escape, but she may just find love as well.

Colbie and Spencer are two characters you can’t help but instantly fall in love with. They are two introverts who care so deeply for others but you want them to finally find their own happiness.

I loved their backstories and connection making this a truly wonderful Christmas romance book worth reading.

Any of Jill Shalvis’ holiday romance books would be great picks for the challenge, but this one is one of my favorites!

What’s My December 2020 Romance Book Challenge Selection?

Holiday With You is one of 2020’s Christmas romance books this season. This is a contemporary romance worth reading if you love small town romance books. Check out the book review from romance book blogger, She Reads Romance Books.

Holiday With You
by Claudia Burgoa and Grahame Claire

Audrey’s headed to the small town of Winter Valley with the sole purpose of acquiring a bed and breakfast for her company. On her way to what could be the greatest deal of her career, she crashes into the truck of sexy, single dad Colin Bradford.

Stuck in town until Christmas Eve, Audrey can’t help but start to fall for the magical, small town…and for Colin.

My book selection for this month’s challenge is a book from an author duo new to me that releases December 4.

There’s something about small town romance that just adds to the feels in a holiday romance so I’m looking forward to snuggling up with this book selection!
