October 2020 Romance Book Reading Challenge – Mixing Mystery with Love

You can’t help but associate October with Halloween and all things mysterious so this month’s romance book reading challenge is aligned with the spirit of the season.

You may not think romance can mix with mystery and suspense but you’d be mistaken. Romantic suspense is quite a popular sub genre in the romance book world and we’re reading it this month!

I’m keeping it easy and simple with the challenge goal of reading one romance book each month to give readers a varied look at all that this book genre has to offer.

Whether you’re new to romance or a romance book junkie like me, you’ll love all the themes we explore in this Challenge.

Romantic Suspense – October’s Reading Challenge Theme

To participate in the October 2020 Romance Book Reading Challenge, all you have to do is pick one romantic suspense book to read and mission completed!

There can be a lot of variety in romantic suspense novels ranging from dark romance to romantic fantasy or any contemporary or historical romance book can just have a mystery component to it.

The choice is yours where you want to take this month’s reading challenge.

For the October 2020 reading challenge, I’ve given you four categories for selecting additional romantic suspense books to read.

This was a fantastic enemies to lovers-esq romance wrapped up in a homicide case they’re both dedicated to solve. A great read by James and a perfect pick for this challenge.

This book delivered so much: a sexy, friends to lovers story, a bit of hockey action, a bit of corporate espionage and suspense, and a bit of fake relationship angst – all with a hot hockey player who’s hard to resist.

The chemistry between Emily and Royce was palpable from their very first encounter, so you can’t help but root for them. Plus, if you love rock star romance books, this is the perfect pick.

Just be aware that there should be a trigger warning for this novel with one topic that his addressed.

I love Penny Reid’s books and Cletus Winston is a hoot so I’m curious about her new series where she dives into the romantic suspense genre. It’s pretty hard to pass up a book with Cletus and Jen whom I fell in love with reading the Winston Brothers series.
